- Many Iranians and Russians are currently buying apartments in Northern Cyprus-to avoid sanctions. EU laws only apply in the southern part of the island. Economists suspect that money is also being laundered.

That depends on the scale. London houses were bought by oligarchs, the cost was insane there.
Sone russians who buy or rent now may be spies, but many of them are not, you see many protest of those russians. And obviously, those are not rich people who corrupt the whole London.

These are one of those grey zones around the world where logical arguments don't make any sense. I'm Indian and we've been squabbling over Kashmir with Pakistan for over 75 yrs now.
Turkey is also giving passport for investment . All EU countries are doing it. But they dont steal properties to sell them to foreigners

@@davidaxelos4678 It depends on the country and on the construction company. I have no idea how it works in Northern Cyprus, but in some countries the state guarantees that people will get their money back if the apartment isn't ready in time.

Either all construction companies pay a special tax and if something bad happens people who have lost their investments get their money back from the above mentioned tax. Or all construction companies must keep the investment money, given to them by people, on special protected back accounts and can't have access to them until all the people get their apartments. If a construction company faces problems and the apartments are not ready in time, the bank gives those frozen investments back to people.

The same thing that was going on in Limassol in the south with the help of ex president Anastasiades is now happening in the north. Everything will become unaffordable for the locals for the sake of easy money for the few developers, lawyers and estate agents who deal with the money laundering.

Countries like Turkey despite being in NATO don't see Russia necessarily the way other NATO members do . Russia s' issues are mostly with European and American nations .

The problem is the intervention of the Republic of Turkey on behalf of one part of that population for its own political interest (and to the long-term detriment of the Turkish-speaking Cypriots).

I’d be very careful of buying property in North Cyprus. If anything happens to Türkiye then North will reconcile with the South and a large percentage of land will be returned to the southern owners. Those condos won’t belong to them anymore.
Unlikely- hundreds of thousands moving and settling will not be uprooted. The original owners long dead families will probably be compensated
