  • APC 11x8, Fox long plug, Omega 5%. Well it ran and I'm satisfied with that. I really don't have the time or desire to mess with this more. As you might have seen in the first video it also came with a carb adapter plate. Perhaps down the road I will for a different carb and run this again.

Glad to see and hear that nice old engine running again. Took time and patience and skill to bring it back to life. Congratulations to Dave.

For what it's worth, that old style Fox carburetor BAFFLED plenty of modelers (me included) which is a good reason those engines never found much favor in the broader market. That said, I had good success adjusting that carburetor on this engine's predecessor - the Fox Falcon .60 - ONLY AFTER the engine was fully broken in. Attempting to adjust the low speed mixture when the engine is new and tight, is futile. The engine requires LOTS of rich, wide open throttle heat cycling before it will even come close to holding a steady idle and allow a reliable adjustment. Once that is achieved, the top end will adjust normally and the engine will throttle and idle properly.

Wow! Great to see the variable valve at exhaust port... Never saw nothing like this in a glow engine... Thanks for sharing! And keep up the videos and tuning of this piece of art!

I have several videos of engines with this type of old baffle exhaust. Search my channel for Veco 19, man I cannot remember the others right now. Maybe an older OS. I have several that have a different type of baffle exhaust. An OS 60GP, and Merco 49 as well.

At one time, that was used as the only throttle control. Before mufflers came into general use it was common on R/C engines.

Try an 11x7 propeller if the carburetor service does not help.

I have a Fox 78 with the butterfly carb. Its turning a 12-10 prop. It's got a ton of torque. I never put a tachometer on it so no clue what type of RPM it turns. Mine is on a Sea Dancer sea plane and it pulls it around really well.

Well done, it runs and after sorting some carb adjustment wil work a lot better, maybe the internal fuel galeries of the flapper are partly cloged causing fuel flow issues. You made another functional engine, considered crap for others.

Maybe not a treasure, but you turned one man's POS into an engine that runs decent, great job! How 'bout that throttle set-up,high tech, lol,I liked the other way,it was simple but worked good! Thanks!!

Sir according to me engine is in good condition but air temperature is high i never run any engine weather it is glow or diesel above 25 deg centigrade with muffler but I think ur more experience than me so u better know

All glow engines can operate in high ambient air temperatures. If I used your guidelines I would seldom ever be able to operate glow engines at all. There would be ZERO hobby industry in many areas of the world.

@@dmrcflyr2 He would really hate it down here in SE Texas where it gets over 100 F in the Summer and 80% or better humidity. Been running engines in it for decades with no problems.
