I don't think _anyone_ decides they want to simply listen to Snow Halation and then they fire up to game to do so. I've discovered so much music through osu! that I now listen to all the time. Stuff that would have normally had ZERO chance of being recommended to me. Not by the YT/Spotify algorithm, nor by friends IRL. Think stuff like Igorrr.
This topic really is one of the worst issues that the osu community has had in a while, there's really been a bunch of issues regarding these absolutely controversial decisions and incidents that are really making the community destroy itself slowly, as players are truly forgetting how to respect others and how to handle these situations, and also how to discuss these topics in a healthy manner, as a lot of the community has had a very strong and destructive reaction towards it, which makes the reputation of the osu community die out really fast. It's very sad to see this happening, and I at least hope that these situations can be handled better in the future, as this could mean the end of this game sooner or later in terms of copyright infringements and other things related to it. That's all I got to say, good video as expected from you, Kibitz.
Understandable yet its just an "Over-Reaction" to an "Over-Action" from an artist and the community. I very well understand that some artist doesn't want their songs on a platform uploaded in which someone could make money from it by monetizing the play or whatever, however since the videos main purpose are not uploaded because someone just steals the song and reupload it randomly somewhere to take the money away from the artist which he could make, its more just the gameplay in the video to show that off to the entire community what crazy play or historic play someone did and then without any talks, just striking an entire youtube channel like this, before even asking to remove the certain videos from the artist, demonotize them or whatever solution. I simply cant agree with a_hisa on this one as much I respect the artist and his/her songs and understand to some extent that the community is now frustrated and angered. Sadly some people are crossing lines with their words and making the situation even more worse.... + the Overreaction on some isolated players (like jakads).
Honestly, the osu! community has been growing larger and larger, and more and more younger people have been joining the game. As a game gets more and more popular, there is a higher and higher number of people who just aren’t respectful whatsoever, who are toxic. It’s inevitable with games. Many games’ communities and fandoms (especially ones with a larger younger fanbase and/or weeb community, not naming any because I don’t like to take examples) have made that more and more clear that is the case no matter what. People also don’t have control over what other people post online, so how are we supposed to stop this from happening? (this being everything controversial about the community) I don’t support hateful and toxic communities (obviously), and this has led me to thinking that I should detach from these communities that I used to enjoy. (I definitely am starting to detach myself from a lot of communities right now at this moment just because the communities treat anybody with a different opinion like they set off a nuclear warhead in the middle of Africa) At the end of the day, there is quite literally nothing we can do to stop these people from posting what they want to post and handling it better unless it happens privately. (But in the age of the internet what happens privately anymore? A lot of things, but some things will always leak into the public…)
@@DarkRakus Very understandable, both parties should've really done things differently and stuff would've gone okay, but it ended up happening. It's either time to adapt to the change or time to maybe get off the community as it's becoming an unhealthy mess and it isn't really improving much lately. It's sad how a lot of people are losing their own boundaries and did all of these things. Sadly, a_hisa didn't really discuss it well enough so the massive takedown of a lot of songs, videos and maps was very sudden, and was also a pretty bad overreaction, as well as the death threats and other things that were sent to a_hisa and other artists. So yeah, if not just enjoy this game without really minding about the community, as it can be really unhealthy sometimes. If anything, just stay with the ones who are close to you and your friends, better than staying in a place where everyone is extremely unhealthy with their way of handling things, unless you want to be there, of course. As long as things are still up, there's still going to be issues, so it's your decision to handle them or not. XD Have a good day man, nice opinion. 👍
I feel like people are confusing normal osu players, with osu players on twitter. Twitter is a toxic platform with a lot of toxic people on it but while i have met some toxic people on osu, it is a rare occasion and i have even met some friends ive had for years because of the game. Sadly people judge the posts that toxic people make on twitter rather then the other overwhelming majority of the community that is nice, welcoming, and understanding
we should also remember a lot of artists are signed by record labels which they have to be compliant. some dont even have rights to their own tracks. I really believe a lot of artists dgaf about their songs used in a free games, its only when they get big and popular that all the legal stuff starts to be considered.
I realize something too, after hiatus from 2020, and trying to get back to osumania at late 2023, the playcount on ranked map was decreased so much too 😢
cant lie, a lot of ranked maps since 2020 have just sucked. current mapping meta for all gamemodes is absolutely dogshit and we need a new way for maps to get ranked.
As time goes on we might not see 4k+ games grow as much as 4k has been meta, yes we recently had 12-18k now able to be ranked on osu but still an arcade is not as accesible and everything above 4k is such a hard thing to get just into the very basics and to even take it far. I have kinda strived away from osu since im hard limited in certain stuff and started going offline and only mapping just to avoid caring about rank
Kibitz, I have seen you massively improve in making videos, I've seen some of your livestreams. I must say that you are a great mania player and i wish you the best.
jakads was what motivated me to keep pushing and pushing. his funny and well edited videos will forever be remembered. mania as a whole has lost a part of itself as we bid farewell to this legendary hero. all good things come to an end. but we didnt expect it to end in this way.
Honestly for how little ive been just interacting with the osu community, watching from the sidelines maybe the high skilled players and enjoying the game Seeing how messed up the community truly is reminds me at this point with how the vtubing community space is, people exploding, sending hate raids and else (tbh i feel many communitys are very similar with how they interact on social media/generally online spaces) As much as i really enjoy just playing rhythm games hearing of this just makes me stay away from the general osu community now even more than i was before so generally thank you for having this kind of video existing, explaining and somewhat giving others a view of whats been going on ^^
Completely understand your situation. Playing a game for the game itself and nothing else is respectable. Glad this video was able to give you more insight :)
@@Kibitz Oh yeah i tend to always miss things either way may it be songs taken down, drama or else unless i check youtube now and then and just see it on my homepage that gets me up to speed but it just sucks community after community ruining itself with this kind of idiotic behavior x.x
What I didn't like about the whole a_hisa situation is how he hadaled it... which to say in polite manner... was quite bad I get that he doesn't want his music to be on osu but he could've used the 7 day warning, not to mention cpol's case, which he explained in r/osugame post. Basiclly he got 2 strikes from a_hisa and wanted them to be put down, but a_hisa didn't aggre for whatever reason. Also when cpol asked about a_hisa's other names, a_hisa didn't give him any response. Also from what I've heared, a_hisa put that he doesn't want his songs to be used in osu after he stroke the channels, so the channels had no way of knowing about it. But also osu community screwed up by sending innappropriate messeges to said artist. Thankfully it was resolved, but we got another drama in standard community, heh
tbh I dont think a_hisa doesnt want people to use his song in osu at first. I think he just want people asking permission to do so before mapping it since i have dmed a_hisa via twitter, asking to use his song to map twice. but I guess people just keep mapping his song without asking for permission and to a point where he doesnt want his song to be on osu at all. still the DMCA is not the best way to handle the situation, but I can really understand why.
Glad you made a video on this, gives me some confidence to cover the topic on my own in an upcoming video. On the flip side, the a_hisa situation was a god damn sh*tstorm and it could have been handled better on both sides (a_hisa should have communicated better and the community shouldn't have had such a bombastic reaction and sending death threats to a simple artist)
Honestly I completely understand why this was Jackads last straw and why he was so mad. What the OSU community did to a hisa is horrible and I’d be mad if I saw the community I was a part of do that shit. It’s like watching your favorite content creator actually turn out to be a horrible person, it just leaves a sour taste in your mouth and makes you wish you were never part of their community.
ah, thank you for making a video on this! i was late to learning of this and only found out after jakads removed every single osu video from his channel i miss his azimuth dan video
Tbf, I can understand Jakads' decision on going off like that. I myself cut contacts with one of my friends in the same way in hopes that he wouldn't contact me ever after that. You will never want to interact with something that will hate you or you yourself hate, so why would you want to quit like normal (like, without announcing to the whole community how you are disgusted with them and hate with every fiber of your soul)? I won't be surprised to know that a lot of top-100 players will try to do so after reaching a point where they won't want to interact with the game in any ways possible
i looked up to jakads ever since i first joined osu via robeats in 2017, i'll miss him a lot. and while i don't agree with him removing all existence of his osu history from the internet, i respect his decision and wish him well in the future.
osu wont vanish, thats what featured artist are for, even if, lets say all songs related to non featured artist are deleted or not rankable, you can probably still submit a non featured artist map but not ranked it, but i truly doubt we'll be getting to those point tho, theres thousands and thousands of artist out there, i really doubt all of them share the sentiments as a_hisa (yk straight to copyrighting and stuff), imo a_hisa couldve just asked peppy to removed all maps with his songs and not do all that bs, but hey thats just me.
I may not agree with some of the reasons artists may want to strike (not just copyright claim, I think it's fully reasonable to do so) videos that use their music, but after this situation, I think everyone is overreacting, but especially the ones sending death threats to artists. Decisions of artists not wanting to do anything with the community after this and many more incidents are definitely reasonable. In the end, it's their music. PS Great video!
Im by no means a old player but as someone that started the game in Juli 2021, it seems like with each event and controversy the community loses it sense of respect in some way or another. Of course its not like that its the ENTIRE community that behaves that way but we do agree that unnecessary hurting the game's reputation could have too much of an impact in the (near) future if this continues.
um yes yes, it’s wonderful how "smart" and "fair" it is to insult the ENTIRE GAME and ALL PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY, just because of a small group of indignant people. “This drama really did show alot of Jacads true colors.” We are all people, but we don’t hate the whole world and all people because of maniacs, murderers, etc. exist.
Thanks for enlightening me on this issue, I felt a bit confused when I heard about what Jakads did, so watching this, I have got an answer for what happened. Great video btw!
Great video. Really disappointing about the Jakads situation. Osu players need to understand Artists owe us nothing and should respect their wish's if they don't want a song on osu.
@@alef3356 To be fair, legally speaking they have every right to do so. You might not agree with it, but they are using someones work without permission which is against copyright law. It would be lucky to not get a copyright strike as alot of artists really care about their work. Imagine you baking a cake for 2 months for £1000 and someone just decided to steal that cake and give it to someone else for £500. You wouldn't be happy right? Nobody likes their stuff being stolen and copyright law exists to protect artists. Might not be the best analogy but It gets my point across well enough.
@@AriScarlet while i do partially agree, there isnt really any profit with osu. whenever a map is made and ranked, no one ever profits. its complete volunteer work and the servers hosting the map are paid through osu supporter which are essentially donations.
@@powerplayer75 It doesn't matter if they aren't making any money from osu itself. They are taking someone's work and putting it on osu! without their permission. I will say that osu has introduced me to a lot of artists and made me enjoy music as a whole. It still leaves a bad taste in many artists mouths as people are taking their hard work putting it on osu and they are getting really no benefit from it. The creator might get a little exposure from osu players but some artists might not appreciate that. It is still theft at the end of the day even if you aren't making money. One of the other reasons they might not like it is people are playing the song on osu instead of the original source which could annoy the artists. The main takeaway is, always ask permission and if they say no then respect their wishs. Artists owe you nothing.
Its so sad to see osu!st history go away just because because of a_hisa and to see Jakds to leave along with deleting his account. This is kinda our community's fault nut this is just very very sad.
Really glad to SEE you back on UA-cam, Just started watching your video a few days ago and noticed that you havent been uploading videos in 3 months. And now you're back. Want to see you back in twitch aswell ❤
Making multiple copyright claims (aka channel deletion) is frowned upon on UA-cam community. Why everyone acts that with a_hisa it should be different?
wow, there was something this wild happening under my nose. i was just literally clicking circles without care in the world until YT recommended me osu related videos again. this was very tragic set of events that really encompasses how communication is such a simple but very hard skill to master. not gonna lie, all parties involved have some fault one way or another, a_hisa was quick to decide that one of the historic osu channels must go cause their music is there, that is understandable but... they didn't take into account what would the community would feel for just you know one of the historic osu channel just disappearing in thin air. the community is even worse, i would understand backlash but death threats and stuff? not only is it life-ruining it is illegal. if there is one thing i know for certain in this game is that the members of the community is very very passionate to a fault which is why we are now here and there's also jakads i don't know the guy even with the video explaining it but sudden death had the right idea, they could have literally quit quietly, he wouldn't get any hate send his way and everyone understands it since like the video said he was no longer interested on playing osu but somehow it fans the the flames even harder. we have problems on the mapping community and now we have problems on literally the entire reason rhythm games exist. we are in for rough days, this won't kill this game, but i sure think its gonna be rough for all of us.
mrekk's tweet, specifically "showed the osu community's true colors", sums things up perfectly. This community has always had a bad reputation for being unfriendly, toxic and (moreso from the outside looking in) straight up creepy - it should come as no surprise that this situation was a tipping point for beloved people like Jakads, as well as some artists in general, to want to dissociate from such a scummy community.
Being honest. This is and will always feel like stupid, Copyright on general feels like it at least on UA-cam because Everything would be easier if UA-cam had a way to UA-camrs to say "Hey, this song is from this person so the money generated from this part/percent of the video should go to Him" and I would prefer not to listen someone saying "but how would they make it" UA-cam already have a track of how much people view each part of the video and that's how they make the waves of views on UA-cam videos, and about the Korean I think that Osu community in fact take it really bad, anyone have the choice of playing what they want and not because you dislike a guy leaving a game it means you have a choice of it but the People that used this "controversy" to make some very viewed comments but there was no much need of their "Opinions" and I'm also on the side of SuddenDeath about the Tweat, He had no good enough reason to make a post about his left because its His election to stop playing something. Its like those people that makes public every private stuff whit other UA-camrs just to get a bit viral or a bit of fame. I could maybe continued somehow this comment but I am not a native so I am actually scared of making Orthographic Errors on something as "important" like this and plus I think that My use of Dots is wrong as hell. Pd: I don't have a problem of replying anyone that wants to give an opinion about what I have said and I will happily respond any comment that is made on a constructive way (No hate to anyone else than the maker of Copyright)
It's just twitter doing the standard twitter shit and some people taking it too seriously. People just want to get personally involved in shit drama because they've got nothing better in their lives. At the end of the day osu! distributes the music through beatmaps in a kinda shady way in terms of legality and we all know it. It is the music creator's right to claim their bag through copyright strikes if they want to. And who would've guessed that the amazing world of twitter would start their sadistic, psychopathic mayham over a normal situation like this - just an artist claiming their bag because they can. It's not a problem of "the osu! community" - it's a problem of the overlap between the osu! community and the twitter demons.
Jakads reasoning I think is understandable but also I agree its a bit of an overreaction from the community but it is what it is respect any players that chooses to go out like jakads did and respect the artist and use the featured artist music so we dont get the a_hisa situation again.
Glad it didn't spread further to the outside audience, otherwise it's going to be a clusterfuck of tourist (known as the mainstream news with a poor reputation of the reception as of lately) painting us the community in the negative light instead the positive one with a potentially a risk of a lawsuit against the game along with mass DMCA spree not just the website, but as well as other videos that are been posted.
Sad to see such a influential figure in the community remove what they left behind but he has the right to make that choice. Anyways good video as always kibitz keep grinding
the osu community always had a reputation for being rude and immature, but this just made it even worse.. the "twitter people stupid" stereotype aint even a stereotype anymore, its just true
@@incongruous4 Advertising directly converts into money. It brings attention to your music which leads to fans who are willing to pay for your albums. People finding music on osu only leads to an increase in revenue for artist, taking your music off of it is shooting yourself in the foot.
@@descai10 No, that's not how it works. Artists hate being paid in exposure. Artist rarely if ever get returns from putting out their work for free for the exposure for future returns rather than getting paid directly for releasing/licensing their music. I did, I mentioned that a hisa didn't like having his music used in osu and decided to take immediate matters and issued copyright strikes to the channels resulting in the osu community firing back with hate comments and death threats which led to jakads' distaste and eventual end to the game

Things like this are the reason the majority of the rhythm game community thinks osu is absolute cancer. Genuinely considered one of the worst fanbases around.
Jakads should learn to acknowledge Peppy's efforts in making osu! a better place instead of calling the game 'illegal' and such. It seems as if he thinks that's what the creator intended, which is what I dislike about him.
should peppy just press pay for limited licenses for maps of songs he didn't even create or what. You can't feature every map this game has to offer. I also don't understand why the fuck someone who makes music would fire shots at free advertising for their music lol. Nah everyone has own reason being paranoid, it's really normal and nothing wrong, just people make up bad mindset about the whole situation, and that's why all causes all this shets, can't people try to discuss better first before trying to insult one by one leading to even bad situation. This is a world's problem at this point. Also seriously not allowing song to be play anymore, then what the heck is the point of making them at the first place??!! That's not how an artist should be like, not mature enough on the situation.
@@arcueid3352 that's exactly what Im talking about lol, fault of being an artist, but of course it's their right to remove it, after made them, of course. btw it's not 'mature' matter, a lot people really misread and confuse by the messages given.
Some artists do not want their work to be ripped off to be used on other platforms. For some it directly affects their revenue and contrary to belief outside of a few big names most already dont make much from music streaming sites or sales. In this scenario, my personal opinion is that artists need to understand context. Its actually not difficult to send a message to channels about removing said music from videos or have beatmaps taken down by contacting the game. Forcing 3 channels to get completely shut down is an extreme solution that should only be used when it is obvious people dont comply because it basically puts in a spot of attack. Also honestly speaking if a channel you support gets deleted for not a good reason they will obviously get mad.
He’s still a legendary name who did so much for the game so it’s only fair. People are also confused as to why he’s gone and need the bigger picture view.
The video is more so highlighting the copyright issues that osu is threading on. As the game grows in reputation, the more artists grow aware that songs are being used without permission. That’s why the title is what it is, you just are too dense to see it lol
@@KibitzI mean true but like you could make a video like that as to tell the viewers on how they can be safe from stuff like that. or like a story time video just that you wont reveal who the kid is. You dont have to do it im just giving an idea
The toxicity of this community is disgusting, I just want to play the funny circle clicking keyboard smashing rhythm game. Jokes aside, I feel that the amount of elitism this game gives people can be quite bad, I'm guilty of it myself as well on occasion. I think Jakads leaving is sad and unfortunate. But I think it's honestly what the community kinda needed in a sense. it sucks the history is gone, but the message was sent.
I think a_hisa should have been treated more respectfully by the community. An artist wants to break from the game and it's their right to do so. Yeah it sucks that their music won't be rankable in the game anymore, but there's nothing we can do about that aside from asking them POLITELY if they would reconsider if something was changed. Regarding Jakads, I think the best thing they could have done is set the Osu videos to unlisted and put them all in a playlist with a title saying they don't support the game anymore. A twitter post saying "I'm quitting Osu and don't support it anymore thanks for the great times" would have been great. Publicly airing out your issues with the game and copyright (which honestly need to be updated for the modern era) is frankly unprofessional. To those that bitched about it on twitter... You are incredibly disrespectful to both artists and players. You are harming the reputation of the osu community and causing both artists and players to see the community in a toxic way. There are artists that have asked to be blacklisted from osu ranked simply because of the insults and whining that you put on twitter since an artist no longer wants their songs in the game. You are acting like spoiled children who cry and hit when they don't get ice cream for dinner.
Here's the thing: a_hisa could've played nice at first and not done immediate takedowns which threatened the entire history of the game. Idk if he doesn't understand how youtube's copyright system works or not, but at best it's ignorance and at worst it's malice. Obviously no one should make death threats or anything like that, but the negative sentiment towards him was completely justified for his actions. Had he not been a dick about it and requested the option to takedown videos over the week instead of going the nuclear option (only going for the nuclear option if people didn't listen to his requests), I'm sure things would've gone over much more smoothly. Every artist has a right to their music after all and people weren't mad about that, they were mad that he almost nuked the history osu which he had no connection to. Example: No one cares if you burn down your own house, but if that fire spreads to a park nearby, people are not going to be happy with you. As for jakads, the dude was just looking for a reason to delete his account and made it dramatic for no reason. Virtue signaling is clown behavior and he had already left the game long ago.
thats what I'm saying dude, everyone agreed with my tweet and then as soon as a_hisa went full damage control mode being "amicable" or whatever with people like cpol and BTMC, guess who was apparently going "too far" afterwards xD jakads clearly wanted nothing to do with osu which is really nothing new (I'm surprised he stuck around as long as he did honestly), and a_hisa put out a statement afterwards that just further proved my point in that he was just being a spiteful asshole and wanted to "teach us a lesson" in a targeted, rude and unnecessary way
Just ignore the community. If I left a game because of it's community I'd have no games left.

Well said. Thanks :))
Understandable yet its just an "Over-Reaction" to an "Over-Action" from an artist and the community.
I very well understand that some artist doesn't want their songs on a platform uploaded in which someone could make money from it by monetizing the play or whatever,
however since the videos main purpose are not uploaded because someone just steals the song and reupload it randomly somewhere to take the money away from the artist which he could make, its more just the gameplay in the video to show that off to the entire community what crazy play or historic play someone did and then without any talks, just striking an entire youtube channel like this, before even asking to remove the certain videos from the artist, demonotize them or whatever solution.
(this being everything controversial about the community)
I don’t support hateful and toxic communities (obviously), and this has led me to thinking that I should detach from these communities that I used to enjoy. (I definitely am starting to detach myself from a lot of communities right now at this moment just because the communities treat anybody with a different opinion like they set off a nuclear warhead in the middle of Africa)
At the end of the day, there is quite literally nothing we can do to stop these people from posting what they want to post and handling it better unless it happens privately.
XD
Have a good day man, nice opinion. 👍
osu! is really changing. is changing for the worse, because of people like Hisa, Jakads, Mrekk, and everyone who supported it.
I have kinda strived away from osu since im hard limited in certain stuff and started going offline and only mapping just to avoid caring about rank
we have agree, jakads was the legend of rythm games. but the community left him the hardiest desicion for him.
Kibitz, I have seen you massively improve in making videos, I've seen some of your livestreams. I must say that you are a great mania player and i wish you the best.
Thanks dude :D
@@Kibitz :D
jakads was what motivated me to keep pushing and pushing. his funny and well edited videos will forever be remembered. mania as a whole has lost a part of itself as we bid farewell to this legendary hero.
all good things come to an end. but we didnt expect it to end in this way.
Honestly for how little ive been just interacting with the osu community, watching from the sidelines maybe the high skilled players and enjoying the game
Seeing how messed up the community truly is reminds me at this point with how the vtubing community space is, people exploding, sending hate raids and else (tbh i feel many communitys are very similar with how they interact on social media/generally online spaces)
As much as i really enjoy just playing rhythm games hearing of this just makes me stay away from the general osu community now even more than i was before so generally thank you for having this kind of video existing, explaining and somewhat giving others a view of whats been going on ^^
Completely understand your situation.
What I didn't like about the whole a_hisa situation is how he hadaled it... which to say in polite manner... was quite bad
I get that he doesn't want his music to be on osu but he could've used the 7 day warning, not to mention cpol's case, which he explained in r/osugame post.
The most drama of all time indeed
Glad you made a video on this, gives me some confidence to cover the topic on my own in an upcoming video. On the flip side, the a_hisa situation was a god damn sh*tstorm and it could have been handled better on both sides (a_hisa should have communicated better and the community shouldn't have had such a bombastic reaction and sending death threats to a simple artist)
Honestly I completely understand why this was Jackads last straw and why he was so mad. What the OSU community did to a hisa is horrible and I’d be mad if I saw the community I was a part of do that shit. It’s like watching your favorite content creator actually turn out to be a horrible person, it just leaves a sour taste in your mouth and makes you wish you were never part of their community.
ah, thank you for making a video on this! i was late to learning of this and only found out after jakads removed every single osu video from his channel
i miss his azimuth dan video
Glad I could help!
I won't be surprised to know that a lot of top-100 players will try to do so after reaching a point where they won't want to interact with the game in any ways possible
over reaction to over reactions this isnt just osu! its humanity
i looked up to jakads ever since i first joined osu via robeats in 2017, i'll miss him a lot.
and while i don't agree with him removing all existence of his osu history from the internet, i respect his decision and wish him well in the future.
this makes me afraid , maybe another drama like this and osu could possibly vanish , a huge copywrite strike can end it all :(
osu wont vanish, thats what featured artist are for, even if, lets say all songs related to non featured artist are deleted or not rankable, you can probably still submit a non featured artist map but not ranked it, but i truly doubt we'll be getting to those point tho, theres thousands and thousands of artist out there, i really doubt all of them share the sentiments as a_hisa (yk straight to copyrighting and stuff), imo a_hisa couldve just asked peppy to removed all maps with his songs and not do all that bs, but hey thats just me.
@@arcueid3352he did ask peppy to remove it for years and years. But peppy never did till the strike happened so hey 😂
@@doublexset7063 welp cant say anything about that lmao, if thats true, then its definitely peppy's fault, can i get a source on that though?
damn not knowing about any controversy really makes me sleep peacefully
correction on the Chunithm tournament part: the JP region KoP is separate from the International one that Jakads participated in.
I honestly could care less about the osu “community” i just enjoy the game
I may not agree with some of the reasons artists may want to strike (not just copyright claim, I think it's fully reasonable to do so) videos that use their music, but after this situation, I think everyone is overreacting, but especially the ones sending death threats to artists. Decisions of artists not wanting to do anything with the community after this and many more incidents are definitely reasonable.
In the end, it's their music.
PS Great video!
the osu! is changing and i miss you!
Im by no means a old player but as someone that started the game in Juli 2021, it seems like with each event and controversy the community loses it sense of respect in some way or another. Of course its not like that its the ENTIRE community that behaves that way but we do agree that unnecessary hurting the game's reputation could have too much of an impact in the (near) future if this continues.
osu! isnt worse, just the community
Real, generally are some edgy kids with twitter lol.
um yes yes, it’s wonderful how "smart" and "fair" it is to insult the ENTIRE GAME and ALL PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY, just because of a small group of indignant people.
Never seen your videos before and kinda expected this to be clickbait, but that was a very good video. Good work.
Thank you a bunch! Hope you give my other videos a try too :D
Great video. Really disappointing about the Jakads situation. Osu players need to understand Artists owe us nothing and should respect their wish's if they don't want a song on osu.
I agree, but copyrighting the content creators is also a bad move.
@@powerplayer75 that is true but they still have no right to use music they dont have permission to use regardless of any profit
Thanks :) also I stream on UA-cam if you wanna tune in sometime :D
Making multiple copyright claims (aka channel deletion) is frowned upon on UA-cam community. Why everyone acts that with a_hisa it should be different?
Oh, also your pfp is cringe
wow, there was something this wild happening under my nose. i was just literally clicking circles without care in the world until YT recommended me osu related videos again. this was very tragic set of events that really encompasses how communication is such a simple but very hard skill to master. not gonna lie, all parties involved have some fault one way or another, a_hisa was quick to decide that one of the historic osu channels must go cause their music is there, that is understandable but... they didn't take into account what would the community would feel for just you know one of the historic osu channel just disappearing in thin air. the community is even worse, i would understand backlash but death threats and stuff? not only is it life-ruining it is illegal. if there is one thing i know for certain in this game is that the members of the community is very very passionate to a fault which is why we are now here and there's also jakads i don't know the guy even with the video explaining it but sudden death had the right idea, they could have literally quit quietly, he wouldn't get any hate send his way and everyone understands it since like the video said he was no longer interested on playing osu but somehow it fans the the flames even harder. we have problems on the mapping community and now we have problems on literally the entire reason rhythm games exist. we are in for rough days, this won't kill this game, but i sure think its gonna be rough for all of us.
Just came across this vid, thanks for the citation. Let's hope a similar incident won't happen again.
Haha all goods. You speak words of fact.
osu community is full of people who try to ego each other and think they know everything.
Uninteractive.
mrekk's tweet, specifically "showed the osu community's true colors", sums things up perfectly.
This community has always had a bad reputation for being unfriendly, toxic and (moreso from the outside looking in) straight up creepy - it should come as no surprise that this situation was a tipping point for beloved people like Jakads, as well as some artists in general, to want to dissociate from such a scummy community.
06:34 so no one is going to talk about the McDonald's BBQ dip?
It's my good luck charm haha
honesty the osu comunity is one of the worst ones i have ever seen dude
I've been waiting for this!
ever expected a rhythm game community would have many dramas other than osu? if you know'all name it.
Great video talking about all this stuff, very well made
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed it!
Even after WindyS' drama, I never thought some big controversy or drama like this would ever happen.
I respect Jakads' decision, Good Night.
It’s sad to see osu! and its community go down this path. It did not used to be this way.
Jakads reasoning I think is understandable but also I agree its a bit of an overreaction from the community but it is what it is respect any players that chooses to go out like jakads did and respect the artist and use the featured artist music so we dont get the a_hisa situation again.
Glad it didn't spread further to the outside audience, otherwise it's going to be a clusterfuck of tourist (known as the mainstream news with a poor reputation of the reception as of lately) painting us the community in the negative light instead the positive one with a potentially a risk of a lawsuit against the game along with mass DMCA spree not just the website, but as well as other videos that are been posted.

tbh I'm on the osu! community's side (excluding the people that were way too toxic and and the ones who sent death threats)
Sad to see such a influential figure in the community remove what they left behind but he has the right to make that choice. Anyways good video as always kibitz keep grinding
not sure if you said it at one point in the video, but don't harass anyone involved in this since it doesn't help, just keep your thoughts to yourself
I hope in the future osu will change in a more positive direction
the osu community always had a reputation for being rude and immature, but this just made it even worse.. the "twitter people stupid" stereotype aint even a stereotype anymore, its just true

Pretty sure people work hard on their art to be compensated with money, not advertising. You can't pay rent with internet views
Artist rarely if ever get returns from putting out their work for free for the exposure for future returns rather than getting paid directly for releasing/licensing their music. from the thumbnail i saw the benzo bg and i thought this video was going to be something farm related and maybe something about the meta lol
people needa respect jakads more and just stop making him feel bad for deleting years of history... his account, his choice.
What's the controversy? I don't really understand what's going on from here, why did he copyright strike the channels you didn't really explain
I did, I mentioned that a hisa didn't like having his music used in osu and decided to take immediate matters and issued copyright strikes to the channels resulting in the osu community firing back with hate comments and death threats which led to jakads' distaste and eventual end to the game

should peppy just press pay for limited licenses for maps of songs he didn't even create or what. You can't feature every map this game has to offer. I also don't understand why the fuck someone who makes music would fire shots at free advertising for their music lol. Doesn't mean they should get death threats for it but we can't get rid of all 12 year old Karens posting bs on twitter.
Youre the one who needs to mature, at the end of the day its their songs, and its their right to removed it from the game, you are not entitled to it
@@arcueid3352 that's exactly what Im talking about lol, fault of being an artist, but of course it's their right to remove it, after made them, of course. btw it's not 'mature' matter, a lot people really misread and confuse by the messages given.
@@deltaoalice9281 yes that sounds okay. If they have handle the situation more maturely it would have been just a small issue overall, so yeah

even though the new players may not know Jakads will forever live on as a Legend in our minds
Not even close. Jakads is changing. The game is not.
The video is more so highlighting the copyright issues that osu is threading on. As the game grows in reputation, the more artists grow aware that songs are being used without permission. That’s why the title is what it is, you just are too dense to see it lol

Never let go of the keyboard until you see the score screen :)
But I think it's honestly what the community kinda needed in a sense. it sucks the history is gone, but the message was sent.
yea
kibitz notice me
we love the song!! the social media just wanted to cut money from osu and osu players. That's so disgusting!
who is jakads
dang wtf
Virtue signaling is clown behavior and he had already left the game long ago.
thats what I'm saying dude, everyone agreed with my tweet and then as soon as a_hisa went full damage control mode being "amicable" or whatever with people like cpol and BTMC, guess who was apparently going "too far" afterwards xD jakads clearly wanted nothing to do with osu which is really nothing new (I'm surprised he stuck around as long as he did honestly), and a_hisa put out a statement afterwards that just further proved my point in that he was just being a spiteful asshole and wanted to "teach us a lesson" in a targeted, rude and unnecessary way
whole shitshow lmao. not surprised.
YOOOO! Mad early for once.
