    As a western musician, it's really interesting to see how indian music approach harmony with other names for the same kind of idea. Really love this channel

    Yeah, in western music, especially in the church choir, we do have Soprano, Altos, Tenor and Bass, minimum 4 voices. Good explanation

    Really wanting to learn and practice harmonies. Kelly Clarkson, when she sings with another person on her show, seems to be such a pro when it comes to singing harmonies.

    Very good. I am fan of harmony. Even certain musicians are obsessed with creating harmony in the counters by violin, best are Ilayaraja, ARR, Keeravani, Raveendran & Johnson, the last two were from Malayalam film music industry.
    Suggest one work by Raveendran Master in film Kizhakkunarum Pakshi - the song is He Krishna composed in Charukesi. Worth a listen for its harmony chorus

      In the end, harmony is abt Sa Ga Pa - both for Major and minor chords

    • @VoxGuru
      @VoxGuru  7 місяців тому +1

      Glad it helped! There are other chord types apart from major and minor, so Sa ga pa is not the only combination possible. But it’s a great place to start.

    Is harmony , is not the same melody or tune sung in different scales, and counterpoint is where two different tunes when blended gives a third one.

    • @VoxGuru
      @VoxGuru  7 місяців тому +1

      I have not indicated that harmony is 2 tunes sung in different scales. I have taken only 1 scale as a reference. Within that I have used the 1st, 3rd and 5th note.

    • @dominicpaul3454
      @dominicpaul3454 7 місяців тому

      As you told harmony is two different tunes sung in same time, which may be interpreted elsewise, thank you for your lessons, helpful for many.

    Your video gave me an idea. I plan to sing “alai paayudai” in C and E scale (using two of the three C major chord notes) and merge it to create a harmony and see how it sounds.
    Your point about decoding a harmony scales - well, I have to do lot of ear training.
