I went to on of Chloe's book signings a few weeks ago and she said that in one of the later episodes where she has a meltdown, the crew made sure everything was as safe as possible for her. So it was the last scene filmed on a Friday so she would have the whole weekend to recover, it was a closed set and they said they would only try for it once. If they didn't get the shot, they didn't get the shot. Also, her boyfriend was there to drive her back to the hotel so he could look after her. Accommodations aren't too hard!!

Chloe Hayden has said that the writers contacted her while they were writing and got her input when they were writing for her character and adjusted their scripts based on her input as to what was realistic to her.
The wardrobe she also said that as a part of the fitting process she was giving feedback for how they also fit her sensory wise and a couple of outfits were scrapped because of that and others were adjusted.
Don't know how much was the writers and how much was Chloe as she quite often does have the glittery makeup on and wears bright clothing.
She is also an ambassador for Yellow Ladybugs which is an Australian autistic organisation that focuses on autistic girls and gender diverse people
For people who are interested Chloe's book is called Different, Not Less

I love the representation and the accuracy of her character so much. That confrontation scene really hit home being a late diagnosed adult. I even still get comments from my SO about how everyone is a little autistic and that I might not even be, just like the date said. But I'm still learning how to unmask and didn't know the words to defend myself and correct him in the moment.

I’ve been following Chloe for years now, she used to call herself princess aspien. Her book is “different not less”. Heartbreak high was a tv show here in Australia in the 90’s I think… this new one is a new version of it. Chloe does a great job with her character… though she does it so well it’s like she’s just being herself 😊 She is also a public speaker at high schools and conferences.

I'm two episodes in but so far, Chloe's character seems to have so much of Chloe in the way she speaks, the energy etc. Love to see the director and the crew take her input into account :) Edit: I completely forgot about the glitter on Queenie's face! Chloe wear it in her videos, too (or at least used to) :)

Chloe Hayden and Paige Layle both speak very openly about autism, and both independently have not been shy about speaking out via videos about misrepresentation of autism in movies/film (eg they take huge issue with Sia who cast nonautistic Maddie Ziegler in her “movie”).
Chloe and Paige do a great job of raising awareness, speaking their own truth, and are proponents of embracing ones neurodivergency - self ❤️

when I first watched this show I had such an "I'm so autistic" moment, so there was this scene where Quinni asks people what a lazy kebab is (I didn't know this either), so Darren tells her it's 'giant flaps', and Quinni asks 'flaps?', and Darren kinda looks down, and I was like what (I'm German so he said "Lappen" which is also a piece of fabric/cloth, usually to clean stuff), does he mean his clothes which kind of looked like Lappen stitched together (using a bit of imagination), and I didn't understand what was meant until it was explicitly said what was meant by lazy kebab.

Thanks for suggesting this show. It’s actually a remake of a very popular 90’s network Australian show. I’d been searching for Autistic shows and movies but most are based on the “stereotypes m” of what most NT people think autism is. The autistic female character id seen that seemed somewhat like me was Rhada Mitchell’s character (another Aussie actress) in Mozart & The Whale.
Btw your channel is a godsend out of everyone I’ve watched in the last few weeks your experiences and descriptions of traits etc and also the language you use in terms of compassion, kindness, grace etc is most similar to me that I’ve found thus far. Your vid with your husband really made me and my husband laugh because it’s such a similar experience and my husband also had some real light bulb moments that I’m not bossy or OCD (the blinds, the lights, the dishes lol) and he is also extremely supportive and funny. I am genuinely grateful to have found your resources and having a 1 in 1 session with you in a few days!

If I had been her I probably would have run out during the find a table part, that was to much chaos and noise for me... have done that on dates not the first date but on dates. So beautiful, so far (also two episodes) I kinda like most of the characters we usually don't se so much, that might not get so big roles. So I'm intrigued. yeah the interesting thing is that I think autistic clothing probably does work on a spectrum too - some will prefer muted colors and oversized clothing for comfort.
