This is actually really helpful. I got myself my first straight razor when I was 16 and no one was there to teach me but I wanted a crispy beard. I had pimples and until I learned to actually use it I cut myself way too many times. It's nice to see that you're educating people with videos! I wish you've made this video 3 years ago😂 you're one of my inspirations to became a barber!
I’m glad it helped you out bro! I know same here I had to learn on myself. Same lol I cut or irritated my skin so many times. I still do! Lol I wanna do my best to educate and give back value to people. My bad bro 😂 thank you bro that means so much! Do it if you want bro! 🙏🏼💯
This is by far the most helpful video I’ve found. The 5 minute mark info is something nobody else has done with their videos. I’ve been thinking of jumping into the straight razor shave to shape my beard and this video is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Great job!
This is hands down, the best tutorial on UA-cam.. thank you so much for being so precise in your instructions about the 45 degree angles. I am liking and subscribing and telling others about you.👊🏿
Definitely would love to watch your beard journey !!
Dope! Thank you for the feedback! I’ll defiantly be doing in soon 🙏🏼
Btw great beard bro.
Beard journey series !!! Let’s gooo
You got it brotha! Maybe before summer so I can have a short beard lol but I’ll be doing it soon!
@@jjaybeardedbarber No short beards!!!!
I’ve watched hundreds of vids and this by far goes in the most depth!
Best straight edge razor tutorial I have found. Well done
Excellent video. One correction: one needs to aim for approximately 30 deg angle... Not 45
yeah i was like 45?!?! not even close... and 90?!?! c'mon man... otherwise great video
@@chrishand259 Nobody said to have it at 90.
One thing I've learned from using this on my beard is you don't need to use a lot of pressure when using it. When you use light smooth strokes with it I noticed it works magic, well for me at least lol. I recommend a good clear shaving gel to work good.
Outstanding video Bro! BEST one I’ve seen so far! Appreciate you! Keep doing what you’re doing!
I ordered a new straight razor after using s safety for a little while.
The helpful advice I got from this was to have the blade protrude put as I was wondering why I wasn't getting it the shave because the blade wasn't exposed as much
Great video! Thank you.
Helped a ton! I've got a thick, medium-length blonde viking-looking beard and can't stand it when my cheek line gets overgrown. I look homeless! Just ordered a straight razor and I'll be watching your video again this week when I practice! Thanks; very helpful and informative.
Really enjoyed watching this video! I got learned a-lot from your tips , Thanks man !
would like to see you trim the beard down and then document the whole beard growing procedure. e.g. weekly routine and how to maintain and line up as u go along. would be really helpful. great vid
Thanks brotha for the feedback! I’ll be getting that ready soon. Enjoy the last moments with it for the winter 😂
Such a good intro to straight razor video! Can you do a video about how to maintain a frizz free beard, and how to grow/train a straight beard?
Thank you!
Do you want like how to trim it so it doesn't look frizzy?
I can but I don't really have a straight beard. I can go over on how to maintain a beard to grow it longer.
Interesting thing to consider i just found out, if you get a spray tan and use a straight razer it microplanes the skin and removes the tan. Resulting in extra crispy lines.
Thanks for the video man! Very useful information!
Cheers!
Appreciate you my guy. GREAT info and demonstration. Stay up bro
Full support bro🤙
Appreciate you bro 🙏🏼❤️
YO JAY THIS TUTORIAL WAS HELPFUL!🙏 I’M A NEW BARBER WHO’S DOWN RIGHT TERRIFIED TO USE A RAZOR ON A CLIENT BUT THAT BACK OF THE HAND TECHNIQUE I THINK I CAN USE TO GET COMFORTABLE WITH THE RAZOR. THANKS CHAMP. LET YOU KNOW HOW IT TURN OUT.👍
How did it turn out my friend?
Awsome demonstration
Top class demonstration!! Thank you
I'm jealous of your beard !
Don’t be bro
Yes man, great vid!
What are your thoughts on using a double edge safety razor for lineups?
Thank you bro! That is defiantly a option you can do if you’re not comfortable with a straight razor.
@@jjaybeardedbarber I have one from when I used to shave my face clean. I tried to use it for cheek and neck lineups, but not digging it. Maybe it’s just too bulky. I may have to try out the Turkish straight razor.
Really good video Jay...will use your advice!
Thank you! Hope it helps!
Nice beard we would like a beard morning routine
I’ll add that to the list 🙏🏼
This was really helpful, Thank you ❤
low cheek line but fully connected with the mustache or high cheek line but not fully connected with the mustache , my fu obsession 😎, thx for the video my friend
very helpful video. thank you
Glad to hear that! Thank you! 🙏🏼
Nice tips!
Beard journey! I’ve got about the same beard as you right now and I’ve been thinking about trimming mine down too. That would be great to see your beard journey
Got you! Coming soon
Instead of straight razor I use very cheap double edge safety razor, which I modified by removing safety combs so I got blade fully exposed. For me it is a way safer than straight razor and more versatile too, I can easily shave all the hard to reach spots on my neck and it is also a time saver. I use straight razor occationaly, when I have extra free time to play with. Great video by the way 👍
Nice! Appreciate the feedback! Thank you!
How did you deal with razor bumps from ingrowing hairs when you first started using a straight razor?
Never had too bad of an issue with that
Great video, where can we get the razor and how can we do our mustache?
Please make a video about growing terminal beard hairs 🙏
Okay I will 🙏🏼 derma rollers
@@jjaybeardedbarber thanks lot 🙏❤️
@@jjaybeardedbarber bro which millimetre is useful please reply
Beard Journey series for sure
Coming soon! 🙏🏼
I completely fucked my line up ....but I mean the tips you gave made me shave better than I did before. I use to ..actually...idk wtf I used to do but I didn't get a single cut and got a more precise shave than before.
Thank you thank you!!!!!! I'm going to practice more on balloons 🎈☺
Anytime! Hell ya! 💪🏼💯
Jojoba oil is amazing for shaving
nice beard! (jealous😉) I wish I had his beard…40 and still can’t grow full sideburns, smh…but I bought a straight edge razor anyway thinking I’m some barber pro…tried on my head, cut myself twice…tried my face, cut myself twice again and went back to my gillette fusion…this is gonna take me some time to master.
Don't know where you're at now but I'd recommend a safety razor first. I've used one for 8 years and was able to seamlessly use a shavette.
Killer beard, man!
Thank you bro! 🙏🏼
dude i wanna see that beard journey👍🤘👍
Got you!
Dope video bro
Thank you!
very useful bro
Appreciate the feedback 🙏🏼
I only use mine to Line up the cheek area. How ofter should you change the Blade??
I change after 2 shaves
Ya I agree, I would change it about every 2 or 3 uses to keep the sharpness because if it gets dull it’ll be hard to get a sharp line
Copy, Good Looks Y'all!
I love your beard!!!!!!
Thank you! 🙏🏼
How often do you line your beard up? Looks 🔥
About once a week, thanks bro! 🙏🏼
great video bro, how about you do a clean shave and then proceed to grow it out it will be better! beard journey gang!
Thanks bro! Man idk if I can do a clean shave 😬 yes sir! Beard gang!
Do you ever use an actual straight razor instead of a shavette? I've been using a shavette for awhile on my lines but want to try a real SR and have heard there is a big difference in feel. Thoughts?
This is very helpful 🤘🏾
Thanks for the feedback!
@@jjaybeardedbarber welcome
Yo, let’s see that beard journey habibi!
I got you habibi 💪🏼
Rick Grimes from Walking Dead teaches us how to straight razor shave. Nice! 😃
Damn Bro I always have a damn problem lining up the top for that isometric look smh But I'm nice with the straight razor!!
Good stuff bro! 🙌🏼
great video
Thank you!
You should start a barber school if you don't have one already, fer real. Your 2nd calling is to teach. You have many talents.
Also do you line up your neck with the same straight razor?
Beard journey fuck yeah!
Got you!
I am so scared of scaring my face, ive been using Schick Hydro Silk Touch-Up Exfoliating Dermaplaning. I cannot figure out how much pressure to use
Good video.
Thanks bro!
@@jjaybeardedbarber thanks your tips work. Great content!!!
What's the brand of your straight razor
what is that fill in pencil? marker?
hi, i have a question. For a thin and messy beard, is it better to get a firm or a soft bristle brush? To train the beard to stay in one way. Will a firm one damage a thinner beard?
Hi, I would get a medium one. The one on my website works great for either beards. It won’t damage a thin beard
Whats the background music?
is dry skin better for this kind of blade?
Crisp and clean bro 👍 I need to get the balls to buy and try a straight razor for my beard lineup. The Gillette Mach3 cartridge razor is just okay.
Do you use the straight razor for neck lineups as well? If so, please do a video on it.
Thanks bro! I got you if you need one! 🙏🏼 and I do occasionally. Sometime I just use a trimmer but I can make a video sometime
Awsome
Beard journey series
Got you! Thank you
i just got it yesterday and it wasnt cutting anything. I think i was holding at the wrong angle
how are you able to see your beard though 😂. whenever i do it my fingers get in the way of my eyes from stretching my skin so its hard to see exactly where the blade is lining it up
Do you have color enhancement added to your beard in this video?
Yes, I used my beard pencils that I explained
the problem I have is that if I draw the line with a pencil and then apply the precision shaving gel, the line will get erased, what can I do?
my skin is very sensitive so I cannot line the beard without using shaving gel
Just put a light layer of shave gel first. But the pencil shouldn’t remove fully it is water resistant. Just make sure not to scrub to hard
To be fair you got a full beard so its easy for you to create those crispy lines vs the guys that dont grow that much of s thick beard...
I wish I knew how to line my beard.... my hair doesn't grow on cheeks high enough
Beardjourney
Got you!
Hey dope where are you located
Turlock, ca

6😯🤣😂😅😅🤣
Honestly, tap the blade part make me not listen to rest of the video. Why would you tap on a sharp edge and make it dull ?

Unbelievable tutorial
