Another great tour Corrin. I did a walk through last Sunday of my dealerships 280RKS while my 280KVS is on preorder. I like the 280KVS because of its opposing living room slides for more space (if you don’t need the additional seating), accessibility inside when the slides are in, the bed on a slide out with smaller nightstands so it’s easier to make the bed, large wardrobe closet, bedroom tv location with optional fireplace underneath, and most of all the large back window in the kitchen for the view and natural light. The propane disconnect is a great upgrade. Thanks for the info on changing out the toilet seat to wood etc., and winterization.

Personally I prefer the layout of the 280KVS. My wife and I are soon to retire so we don’t need the extra seating. I love the kitchen with all the windows. Also there is great access when the slides are closed. I much prefer the east/west bed. Gives an awesome closet across the front. You lose the front window. But you can’t store stuff in a window!!! I wish ODRV would equip their larger units with inverters. They advertise being off-road built but being able to invert solar they offer to 110v to run things like CPAP, microwave, hair dryer, etc. seems logical. One can’t run a generator all night because you use a CPAP. Maybe you could pass that idea along to Outdoors RV. At least make it an option.

Love the bell bottoms, where can I get those? Lol! Also, love the garbage chute and storage area! I have the trash can, bags for the can and the largest lawn bags for storing trash during longer boondocking stays, a small whisk broom and dustpan, and sanitizing wipes. Each time I change bags in the trash can, I can put the smaller bag into a lawn bag and keep the bigger bag at the back inside the storage, to reduce attracting coyotes/ bears. I can also sweep up little bits and pieces that missed the can and wipe everything down to keep it all nice and clean. Truly love how easy it is to keep everything clean and I still have massive storage under my sink! There are so many things I love about my Outdoors RV, I could go on and on!! I've been RVing since 1964!! Best built, best insulation and complete four seasons package (windows, fridge, underbelly heating, tank heater), and BEST suspension of any of the rigs I've owned, rented, or spent time in as a child or guest!

There are pros & cons of ALL floor plans and much of it is personal preference. For us, we love the 280RKS for the extra seating / sleeping space and expansive windows / views around the main living area. It also has nearly 200# of additional cargo capacity over the 280KVS model. It is a tough choice tho! We do prefer the E-W bed slide in the 280KVS model, HUGE closet space, and optional bedroom fireplace. However, the heavier bedroom slide does contribute to less cargo carrying capacity. The KVS also lacks ample kitchen storage due to the large beautiful windows (again, a trade off 🤷‍♀️.) It also lacks the extra seating / sleeping space for guests. For us, this tips the ball in favor of the 280RKS... despite travelling mostly as a couple... it will be nice to have the extra space for our adult kids (future grandkids) or friends to visit.

When we started researching ORVs the 280KVS hadn't yet been announced. We almost ordered a 280RKS. But we fell in love with the 280KVS because: 1) Beautiful rear kitchen layout with expansive windows, counter space & storage; 2) Opposing slideouts provide a very wide open living area; 3) Bedroom layout with large rear wardrobe closet

Really nice walkthrough, Corrin! Great to see you guys used some beautiful Pendleton blankets and throws to decorate the trailer. We have them all over in our 24RKS. Maybe someday ORV will do a Pendleton themed interior design. Highly recommend Thompson RV, you guys are the best.

I like the 260RKS, but I would not turn away this trailer. I also like what Jayco has done with their top of the line trailer with the closets in it. They made some of the shelves in the closets flip up so you can modify it to be a hanging closet, or flip the shelves down to become regular shelving. Good use of space idea. Saw it on another RV review channel on UA-cam the other day.

Since you asked.... Personally I prefer the KVS models. Once you've been in one its hard to give up that back window(s). 6 years ago we went with a rear living because the rear kitchens were too dark for our liking. Had the KVS existed ????

I really like the KVS because of the huge counter space in the kitchen. But I am starting to like the RKS thanks to this video. Having both the sleeper sofa and the lounge seats has made me give the RKS and second look.

Thank you for the tour. Wr currently have a 2020 Blackstone in this floor plan 28RKS. Werecently pulled it to El Paso TX. We had so.e minor ussues with it, but dropped it off on the way home for minor repairs. This is our 3rd trailer and the downsude to this plan is having to let the slide out to get to the kit hen area to check the frig when traveling. We would like to uograde to the RKS Titanium, if you had any access to some good used ones.

Very nice trailer! Very livable floorpan.
This is long enough I would probably prefer it in a fifth wheel then a trailer.........easier to tow.
I have never been a fan having the fresh water tank behind the rear axle.........which if I am not mistaken is the case with this trailer (at least that is what I am assuming as the gravity fill is near the rear of the trailer.). If you were to travel with water in the fresh water tank with it behind the rear axle, this would remove tongue weight which could possibly create trailer sway problems if enough tongue weight is removed. Maybe not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of.

I love this layout mostly because the Recliners but would love it more is it had the Kitchen windows that the KVS has! Are you able to get the Recliners in place of the couch in the KVS? Although I do like having the additional couch! Hummmmm!c I want it all! Love your videos!

It would really be cool instead of the outside trash door that was big enough for a little refrigerator.

What is the possibility that Outdoors RV might offer a king bed option on some of their Blackstone units like the 280KVS or the 260KRS units that have the bed in the slide?

The schwintek on all three slides steer me away from the 280 KVS, otherwise I would choose this model. The one slide with the schwintek for a small closet is fine. But on bigger slides it is a deal breaker.

12 volt refers don't cool nearly as well as 120v/LP refers . A lot of owners of 12volt refers are not satisfied with how well they cool . Stick with proven products , LP rules .

    • @thompsonrvinc
      @thompsonrvinc  2 роки тому +1

Great advice glen!! 12 volt refers have been a major request over the last six months. I definitely don’t think they’re a one size fits all! So much depends on what temps you’re camping in, your solar/battery set up, etc. The gas absorption fridges have been tried and true for 50 years! Thank you for your input!

Too many non-factory upgrades. Outdoor RV is going to have to up their factory upgrade features. Having a dealer perform upgrades that the manufacture do not offer is too expensive for today's buyers.
