Ford NP273 Transfer Case Manual Shift Conversion

- Here I am showing how I used the wild horse manufacturing kit to convert this transfer case to manual shift for my 1979 F250 Cummins build! It's very simple, and will allow me to keep the track simple and reliable.

Glad to see people enjoying the kit. I originally designed it for doing Cummins swaps for guys are putting the newer transmissions into older trucks and didn't want to deal with wiring that isn't very reliable anyways. Great video.
has it been tried on a 2011-2016 273f?

Heads up to those Ram folks out there. The shift lever output on my 2007 5.9 Cummins 273D is a star/gear. It's not the round with 2 flat sides. So you may want to pull the shift housing before ordering a kit. I plan to modify the auto plate/gear.
I dream of doing this to one of my '70s Fords. I've really thought about going and putting in the pre-turbo 7.3 Powerstroke that has mechanical injection. Mostly because I can get one of those easy. I haven't come across a Cummins yet. I'm excited to watch your build.

Dude, im doing the exact same conversion on my Excursion right now because the electronics have failed. I have the same conversion kit as you too. Thats gonna be a sick truck when your done. Subscribed!
Glad to here someone else is doing this conversion for the simple reliability! And thank you, progress is slow at times as its not my main project, but its a really fun one to see come together for a cool guy!

You got pic how the handle is made I know this is for ford but found same kit for a Chevy thinking about doing this
I just built a plow truck its never going down the road ever SO can I just remove the shifter motor and take a wrench and turn it to 4 wheel H and it will stay locked in that position ?
Yes, that should work just fine. it will stay in the selected range.

What size bolt holds the linkage to the transmission at the two holes you pointed to.
Is there any concern for dirt and water getting in and hinder movement?
Dirt or water should not be able to enter the transfer case itself, as there is a seal around the shift shaft. I could see it as a possibility to interfere with the new shifter attachment. But, it also would be an easy thing to clean, even removing it to do so would be simple.
