Armed and Dangerous (1986): Union Scene
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 сер 2019
- This entertaining scene from the 1986 movie, “Armed And Dangerous” demonstrates the mob mentality of unions in the United States. Frank Dooley (played by John Candy) watches in delight as Norman Kane (played by Eugene Levy) asks logical questions of the “International Alliance of Special Police & Guards” union representatives (Mr. Klepper and Mr. Lazarus).

Enjoy, I thought it was funny.
Eugene Levy is now 75 years old. Glad to know he’s been able to collect those benefits for 10 years now.
I think this is the only movie Eugene Levy actually technically starred in. But John Candy's fame was blowing up at the time, so he was on the posters and VHS covers.
That was funny lol. Just hope that $15 per week minus the union's "cut" translated into a sustainable benefit lol. After the unions rob their members funds often there isn't much left lol. Hopefully that and social security he can live modestly.
It's for his protection
hahahaha
This scene is funny. But it also strongly implies union dues are not unlike 'protection' paid to a mafia or organized crime syndicate.
“So shut up and sign the f*ckin’ form”
You never have to sign anything you don’t want to
I use this line all the time and no one knows where it comes from.
You do if you want to work for this security company
@@giantleprechaun2350easy to say that when you don’t have bills that have to be paid and you need money badly.
@@hisdudeness8328 True. I guess I’ll shut up and sign the fucking form! Lol
When Mike Ehrmantraut tells you it’s a Union shop you know he’s all business!
Your lucky if they let you retire
So shut up and sign the fuc*ing form 😂😂
I just watched this on HBOmax the other day. My brother and I loved this movie growing up and he just passed in May so it’s different watching now. Still makes me laugh😂
Sorry to hear about your brother. I'm glad you are still able to enjoy the film.
I just watched this last night. Remembering how me and my brother used to laugh all the time. He passed two years ago. I know what you mean
Mike threatening the new security at Madrigal.
One of my favourite movies when I was a teenager great memories
Meg Ryan didn’t hurt the cause either.
Absolutely... i was in Jr high when this came out.. watched it hundreds of times...
“Shut up and sign the fuckin forms” Me and my brother would say that all the time...
Levy: "You know how they say 'It's been a pleasure'? It hasn't."
Jonathan Banks: *Crickets*
Moments later, Captain O'Connell pulled the rip chords on his suspensors and flew around the room laughing.
0:40 I like how John Candy's character has been through hell and back as a real cop and understands the dynamic of the union ripoff, acknowledging there's nothing he can do about it and just accepting it as part of the con of getting the job with that head nod
Sign the fuckin form!
Deebo/Zeus did act with John Candy in this one. He said, he really enjoyed working with the late, John candy.
With everything that deducting from your first paycheck you will not be getting nothing on your first paycheck imagine working back in 1985-1986 as a security guard making under $5 Dollars an hour charging you for your uniform charging you from the Union then charging you for the guard class and for the guard card permits you be lucky if you have $35 left on your paycheck
Probably more than that. My grandpa worked for ADT back in the 80s and he made $10/hr
Sounds like me first year in the military..We had to pay for our uniforms and plus they were ducting from our paychecks for the first year anyone that signed up for the GI Bill.
$15 a week in the mid-80s would have been excessive. A security guard back then would have been paying more like $15 a month in union dues, not a week.
@@Rob2068Wrong. I was in the Teamsters in the 80s and the dues was $60 a month, in the 90s it went to $90 a month. Now, its $135 a month due to high insurance costs. But i will tell you the benefits are outstanding and im already vested for retirement and im only in my mid 50s
Now sign the fucking form! 😆
HEY what's with all the questions?
What’s with all the questions 😂
Jonathan Banks and Eugene Levy are still alive as of 2022. Kenneth McMillan ("Clarence"), John Candy and Brion James ("Sign the f🤬ckin' form!") aren't unfortunately.
Norm collected his benefits about 9 years ago...
This scene still has me laughing so much I have to drink water because I drive myself out so quickly lol
A total legendary comedy movie 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥
A total 🎥 classic
Rip John candy
Eugene you made it to 65
Carla Linton. I remember this movie called. Arm and Dangerous when I was 11 Years Old in the 6th Grade.
Back in 1998 when I became a security card I had to pay over $200 I had to pay to take the class then I had to send my fingerprints to the state and to a different department 1 State cost me $65 then another fingerprint card I had to send $50 then the uniform was deducted from my first paycheck and I had to pay for the union also
Damn!
Another time highlander!
Had a similar experience when I worked security. Most private security companies are just low rent crooks.
How do you become a security card?
Good to know that money was for your protection
Hilarious scene. 🙂🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
I'm 40 and just realized Frankie carbonee from good fellas
LOL, that's Eugene Levy :)
This is literally happening today with a lot of security companies today with their corrupt unions
You bet it is
John Candy could have manhandled those goons.
65😳 Lol that was awesome! Why can't we have movies like this now.... the movies made today are horrible... it's either something to do with Marvel Comics or some bad Japanese horror!
Or some political BS
or crap packed with cgi...
i love this movie. second favourite after national lampoon's vacation, which also features candy and levy.
GREAT MOVIE. AMAZING CAST!
That’s Mike Erman trout
Do you have a pen?
Hey, it's the brow guy from the bank commercial. The one always wanting to see your wallet.
😂
Nope. Nothin' shady here.
That's how they got me to join IBEW.
I belong to the same Union I'm wondering if I would ever be able to get my retirement check from the Union
Probably when you're 65
The money is all gone and the union reps have skipped town.
Wow so Mike really was a cop!
Now we get to retire at 75.
It's for our own protection
If even 75
@1:10 I fuckin knew it before Mike retired to be a security guard he was a union representative from before aka Jonathan banks in breaking bad 💀😂🤣😅😳😳😳😳
Dude from Breaking Bad
Two of em
I didn't know they could say fuck in a pg13 movie.
Times were different in the 80s. Some movies even said fuck in PG movies. To me, it works better if it was used only one or two times in places where the word fits perfectly. Nowadays it's said so much in movies that it's not as funny as it is here.
@@not.supermario Come to think of it, I think the f word was used in What's the Worst that Could Happen as well.
I think you can say "fuck" just once and still keep it PG-13.
They tried to warn us but it's difficult..
lol 🤣
About 80 Grand in today's standard.
Glad they banned that pornstar mustache.
I thought the union guy on the left was killed by detective Axle Foley of the Detroit police department in Beverly Hills. Oh and Meg Ryan in this movie 😍😍
Yeah that union guy is Jonathan Banks. He was killed in Beverly Hills Cop by Axel (Eddie Murphy).
Those two always play thugs in movies.
This is why I am not a fan of unions. It is like the "protection" in prison. You only need protection from the people making you pay for it.
Well said.
Beats the alternative. I found i need protection from employers more than from unions.
It's a well known fact that when Godzilla attacks a city, he takes out non-union shops first.
@@Gunner192 that is just union propaganda. Godzilla is an equal opertunity destroyer. Also the fastest construction companies in Japan are nonunion.
@@Gunner192 they paid a high price for not signing the f..... forms..in hindsight they found it was cheaper to just pay the 30 up front the 15 a week
Why is it that Frank doesn't have a partner with him in his car?
Why is it the police car doesn't have a video camera on the dash?
That was not compulsory nor affordable in those days...
@@grhinson I see
Plus, it's just a movie :)
If I refused to join the union and they yelled curse words at me.
I would punch that guy in the throat five times and say " I was defending myself. I felt threatened."
My union tries to fire those who don't want to pay dues or non member fees. I can't get out from paying as it's automatically deducted from my paycheck and I'm not in a right to work state. :(
Sorry to hear it man. What state are you in; if you don't mind sharing with the internet?
@@lozano41182 No thanks
1988 was the best year

Nah they can’t be Mike ehrmantrout but the forehead tells me it is
Mind your language
Somehow I think bashing unions in the 80s is the reason for a lot of problems now.
Of course. Reagan told everyone unions were bad and that management and the Human Resources department were your friends.

Ahh, good ol anti-union propaganda.
