Wasn't the primary complaint in new york that he had no fire, couldnt relate to the players and just was an overall bad coach? He inherited a good team at BU and drove the program into the ground. Lots of confusion at all the positives here...guy has never proven that he can coach at a high level..even at the college level to be honest. Seems like a bad hire
As a rangers fan the problem was we were his first nhl team. He also got handed a pretty dogshit lineup that was drained from av hockey. Quinn wasn’t a bad coach, he just wasn’t ready yet. You guys will be fine with him, he’s worth at least a playoff series.
Ryan S, I have to disagree with your assessment of how Quinn did at BU. If his goalie could have caught a dump-in from center ice in the 2015 final he wins it all that year. Then in 2017 with a roster including Charlie McAvoy, Clayton Keller and Jake Oettinger, he came within an overtime goal of reaching the national semis. If anything he took over a BU program that had slipped badly and brought them back to contention. BU’s next coach flamed out quickly and was fired but that had nothing to do with Quinn.

They made the national championship in 2014-15(without any david quinn recruiting classes) - in 2017 they lost in the REGIONAL final. That's the regionals chief - 24 teams make the NCAA regionals. That's not a good finish. His final year they got absolutely rocked by Michigan in the same game, same round. He did just OK at a University that spends around 70% of their athletic budget on hockey.

Well if it wasn't clear to everyone before, it certainly should be now. Any NHL team that hires David Quinn as their head coach is clearly tanking.
