Definitely give Callahan another year. I can't believe anyone who would've thought this year was going to be a real banger. New entire coaching staff, new scheme, so many new players trying to build chemistry together. Yes, I'm still watching 16:42 ha. I've seen many times when first year coaches and team aren't great but then, with patience and diligence, start putting it together and it starts clicking. I'd hate to be fired from a job that I'm still learning in real time, when it's always been shown that time is a key piece.
He'll probably get another year and we understand why. But this team is very poorly coached right now and I don't believe anyone thought they'd be THIS BAD. They are embarrassing bad. Hopefully this staff can put it together. Titan Up!
@MusicCityAudiblePodcast I didn't think he'd had this hard of a time coaching, for sure. I believe a big part is he's trying to put too much all on himself, believed he could fix Levis and that alone is a whole theoretical physics level problem. He needs to take a step back and only put on his plate the things he's most experienced and comfortable with. The record though, I was prepped for a disaster, I just hoped all the pieces would work together from the start. I wanted Levis to be the guy and show what he did in Miami last yr, but he looks far too much like college Levis overall. We've seen bad QBs have great flashes but never amount to that potential. I want to see Callahan with a QB of his choosing at this point, one that doesn't need to be fixed but rather coached and taught.
This late in the season, the Titans looked more like a preseason game. Mayo Boy fumbled and then threw Three interceptions!!! Obviously, he isn’t the answer at QB. The next home game is the Texans and the tickets start at $11. - Losses just don’t sell tickets
I'd argue this wasn't a regression, it's what he always was. Other than his first ever game where he threw 4 long TD's to D-Hop, this is kinda what he's been. Turnovers, bad decisions.....the game has always just moved too fast for him.
Positives: Dennard Wilson, Tvondre Sweat fumble recovery stiff arm, Jarvis Brownlee being better value press corner than Sneed, Tyjae Spears having some impact and getting lifted like Simba into the endzone by Latham and Skoronski Negatives: Levis's decision making and Callahan's playcalling. Tony Pollard fumbled handoff from Rudolph. Penalties and poor discipline. I gave up on the Titans season since the Packers loss to Willis in week 3. Still watch the games to cheer them on but very disappointing to see Levis regress and not be a long term solution at QB for the Titans. The worst QB class in a while to choose a QB no Jayden Daniels or CJ Stroud.. I think Titans should go for Abdul Carter or Kelvin Banks/Cameron Williams if trade back. They need to solve Right side of O-Line before they get next QB and improve the WRs they have on this team. I think Callahans will get another year but I'm disappointed to be honest as father and son should of produced more consistent performances throughout the season. Unless this O-Line improves the offense and QB will continue to struggle.
Your assessment is very fair and level headed! No doubt this team has been a disappointment and they're going to have to make a tricky QB decision this offseason. It doesn't look like they can run Levis back, but there's no straightforward answers either. Improving the OL and pass rush is key. Abdul Carter would be a great 1st round pick!
Sad to see the Will Levis experiment is over. Offseason moves we need to sign a journeyman qb and draft Abdul Carter, after that touchdown throw where Burrow had over 9 seconds to to throw it's abundantly clear edge needs to be addressed.
@@MusicCityAudiblePodcast quick question why don't they consider re-signing mason ruldolph for one more year he could get us through 1 more year before we draft a high quality qb
Amy needs to just blow it up. Ran wanted to move into the first for Levis. He hired Callahan. The spent a ton of money on a roster that is lucky to have three wins
I hate to say it but I have seen enough of Will Levis. His first interception is was the most concerning to me. He had chig open on the back side in if he had just gone through the read. It was a very basic concept I’d expect any QB to make. He is decent when his first read is there and he knows where to go but I just think the processing isn’t up to par for a starting NFL QB. If we don’t fall in love with a QB in the draft I’d rather go get a Mac jones or something like that for next year 😂
No question about that. I wish cally would give Mason the first string snaps all week and let Mason finish the year. We may ha e 4 or 5 more wins this year of Mason had been the starter.
I’m commenting again because I want to hear someone talk about this, and you guys are far and away the best in the Titans media landscape. Everything you’ve can listen to since Sunday is “Levis is done, Levis’s fault, etc”. Why then, is Levis perfectly capable of running the scripted plays week after week before collapsing the rest of the game? Does that not HAVE to point to Callahan being at LEAST equal in blame? You can’t absolve Levis of every sin, no, but how can he do well for one drive and terrible the rest as the player? It seems like that would have to be a direct result of playcalling, otherwise Levis would always be bad, and never succeed with the scripted plays. I just feel like the majority of what I’ve listened to the past few days have been completely absolving Callahan of blame and I think he’s the worst coach we’ve ever had.
We appreciate the compliments! Well I do think scripted plays are generally easier to run/execute because you've spent more time preparing + they often involve built-in pre-snap reads. It's when things don't go according to plan when Levis struggles, when he's forced to come off his 1st read & go through progressions or navigate pressure. Brian Callahan has been bad as a HC this year, but I think the issues on offense have more to do with execution than anything.
I like Brian Callahan’s offense, I feel execution has been the biggest problem. I see open receivers in the passing game and the run game has got better as the o-line has bedded in. I think penalties aren’t a coaching issue. Some of the best coaches in the league have high penalty numbers. As to the roster, I think we have underestimated the degree of change in the organisation in the year since Vrable has been gone. Levis does look cooked. There is probably a league level QB in there, but that could be years away, I don’t know if this coaching staff can wait that long.
We also like the design of the offense. No doubt execution has been lacking. We're also not convinced this makes him a good HC. OC? For sure. They're not the same. This team is consistently sloppy, unprepared, and undisciplined. They don't lose regular games. It's always a disaster on ST, 3+ turnovers, a total meltdown in the first or second (or both) half etc.
I would love to know how many people thought Dan Campbell and the GM there should be fired his first season. And how competitive that team was versus this one. Would be an interesting project to look at.
Have seen that example brought up a few times. I do remember going into that season thinking the Lions would be terrible and they were. Wasn't a very talented roster. Titans were also FAR more aggressive this offseason to acquire talent than the Lions were that offseason.
@ agreed, Titans were far more aggressive this offseason. But I think they had to be given the state of the roster to give Levis a fair evaluation this year so they can have clarity for this offseason. I think without the aggressiveness there could have been too many other doubts about the roster to have that clarity. That being said, Levis decided to not leave any ambiguity about himself at all (sad lol)
I saw players last Sunday giving it their all when they have ALL the reasons to tank so I am not out on Brian or Ran . Pollard playing injured, Simmons, Sweat, even Levis or our favourite NPF and the rest of the OL giving their all. Special shout out to Special teams for a clean game. LOL However, Levis turnovers took any momentum or energy away out of that game. Yes Levis has been playing better coming from his injury but when your coach eases the job for you with an above average running game and simple reads out of your playbook and you can't execute...his time is over in Tennesee as a franchise QB. Yeah Ridley, Nwi, Boyd and co have been victim at times of drops and lack of separation but there are still way too many times where he simply miss open guys with decent time in the pocket... Simmons calling out the offense vs the Jags was very warranted even if himself he has been up and down all season. Time let him finish the season and trade him to another team who can cater to his skillset...in the old NFL, you could gamble and take more time to develop...in this new era where fans are at an all time impatient...not happening!
Players are still playing hard, no doubt. We'll give them that. But it's not enough. Levis has simply proven he isn't the answer. The game moved too fast for him. Going to be fascinating to see what the Titans do at QB this summer. Thanks for tuning in!
Anyone who has seen me comment on this pod this calendar year has almost always seen me be positive and patient, especially considering Levis. But his journey is over. There’s just no way back from the bad things he has done this year. The turnovers and inability to read a defense will not be fixed anytime soon. I still believe in Callahan and especially Ran Carthon, and they will both definitely get another year as they should. But I agree 100% with you all saying that next year is probably going to be more of the same. Allar isn’t going into the draft and 1-2 QBs will be gone by the time the Titans pick. Ran and Cally are in save-my-ass mode this offseason so they will not willfully “tank” with a bridge QB like Winston, Jones, etc. or a 3rd-7th round rookie that would gift us a great pick in a *hopefully* loaded QB class in ‘26. Instead, they will likely overdraft a guy or break the bank in an arms race for Darnold or trade too much capital for Cousins/Rodgers to try and win and keep their jobs. Which will then likely take us out of any top 5 sweepstakes for a QB in ‘26. All the while, other black holes on the roster like EDGE, RT, a true WR1, etc. will remain unfilled due to a lack of money or capital for the next regime that is likely to get here after next season, and the suffering continues. It is a perfect storm of 0 good options. The best hope is that either they sign Darnold and he’s a better version of Tannehill or they take someone like Milroe in the 2nd round and he ends up being good. It is just so bleak right now! Thanks for the great content as always fellas.
He is who he is at this point. The game simply moves too fast for him when it comes to reading defenses and going through progressions. The worst thing the Titans can do is allow Ran/Cally to make a decision out of desperation that has further implications in 2026. It's unfortunately a very bleak situation. Thanks for the long comment and for tuning in!
We will never “know” whether this is true, but based on Amy’s history, her quotes, her tendencies, etc I truly believe IF Callahan is back next year the sole reason is because of the financial implications of not paying he, Vrabel, JRob, etc all at once. With the immense public confidence and support she gave him, he has absolutely humiliated her/Ran’s hiring process with the product he continues to put on the field each week, outside of the QB play. Penalties galore. Latham playing badly in addition to his penalties for a full month, all with a “legendary” OL coach. Numerous instances of playcalling and clock management throughout the season that are the definition of “malpractice”. The only way he’s back in 2025 is for financial reasons. There’s just no way she isn’t over him with all she did to bring him here. Keep in mind, he was passed over for years at being a head coach, so he had plenty of practice to interview well.
She would end up with egg on her face (and the $$ implications) so no surprise if she gives Cally/Ran another chance. She expressed such confidence in them. What a mess so far. Titan Up!

I’m fully engaging in the sunk cost fallacy, but it would make zero sense to fire Vrabel and then fire Callahan after a year. You have to find out what Callahan can do in his second year. I don’t think you should fire a HC after one season outside of an Urban Meyer situation. I would rather be one year behind on our rebuild and hire a new coach next offseason than fire Callahan and have our third head coach and third starting QB in week 1 of 2023-25.

You're correct! No reason to believe in this regime right now.
Vrabel was the only thing keeping this franchise somewhat functional. Complete disaster
Vrabel may be about 6-4, 260...but he wasn't the guy that size running the ball for the Titans.
Melo agrees. Vrabel was a terrific HC.
Vrabel and DH22!
Say it with me…SAM DARNOLD
Gross, no thank you
The Titans would almost certainly get the Jets and Panthers versions of Sam Darnold, because of course.
Are Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison coming with him?
Yall so negative
This team is terrible lol.
