This is so good… I feel like this animation (and its specific style).. perfectly lend itself as the best form of visually adapting the book. I don’t think film (and it’s inherent realism) could capture the fervour & frenzy of the internal mind in this story.... It would be unbelievable to see this turned into feature length!
Thank you so much for your kind words ! You have no idea how much this means to me. I really did hope to capture that feature of the book, so I am incredibly happy and touched to hear that you think I was successful with it. Much love❤️❤️
Oh my gosh this is so good, your art style and use of body movements are so expressive. Captures the disorienting atmosphere of the early chapters and Rodions wacked out mindset
This is INSANELY underrated. I love this so much, I’d pay so much money for the entire book to be animated in this style. The colors, the movement, everything is spot on
This is fantastic! Two things in particular that I loved which I haven't seen anyone else comment on: 1) The color palette -- not just the faded colors, but also the use of red/brown/beige. Iirc the action of the book takes place in summer, with much made over how hot and muggy and horrible St Petersburg is; the colors here really accentuate that suffocating stillness. 2) The geometry, with all the buildings and doorways being at weird angles -- of course it's a great way of visually representing Raskolnikov's distorted perspective, but that combined with Raskolnikov's whole look is really reminiscent of classic German expressionism, Cabinet of Dr Caligari and the like. Anyway, this is excellent in every way. Would be really interested to see your take on other scenes from the book :^)
You've just animated this out of my mind. This is precisely what I had envisioned (and what you might have, too), and I am distraught to find an animation so living, so amazingly near to every description and detail, as if it came out of the odd illustrations of your head.
!!!! Just noticed you drew him killing the granny w the blunt side of the axe!!!!!! 10/10 that’s so cool and awesome and shows how by killing the granny he shall bring more harm to himself in return
Ahah, I always seem to forget that wonderful detail while drawing C&P artworks, so I made absolutely sure I didn’t this time😆 I’m so glad you noticed !❤️
I must admit to you, I was short of time, hence the minimal attention to all but Rodya😆 Though it is a wonderful observation ! Your feedback brings me such a lot of joy. Had I more time, I would have drawn the streets crowded, but with their faces obscured, in order to achieve that effect.
Dude this is wicked cool! You captured the gritty scene from the book perfectly. The animation is fluid and lively and the little details do wonders for this video. Great job man!
This is so good, well done to a point. The way it's animated, it's art style - just perfect! It sets the mood and theme for the story, it captured the tension so damn well that it even sent me on a thrill, keep up ❤️
the style kind of reminds me of Edvard Munch's The Scream. this is really well done, it's so eerie but enthralling at the same time, I was so unsettled but I just couldn't take my eyes off the screen
I love this so much! The backgrounds are so curvy and surreal and the atmosphere is amazing! The wind is a nice touch! I especially enjoy how none of the characters speak. It kindof reminds me of the thief and the cobbler, especially the overhead shot where (forgive me I'm only starting to read the book) the main character walks underneath. I love it and I hope the comparison reads as a compliment!
If Someday you think about create a whole serie in this type of animation and ambition, i probably Will watch everything with pleasure and admiration. This is ridiculous good!
just got the physical copy of the book not so long ago and im now reading it. an urge to search any clips abt this book came up and i saw this animation. this helped me visualize well whats happening to this scene omg, you did AWESOME
I just read this book for my clases and was searching for the summary of the book. I didnt expect to find this masterpiece. I adore the simple but expresive style and the body movemnts are so good! I love it so much thank you for creating this.
@feameldo (I don't remember properly book's plot) he was mad at her, cause she required high pay for rent and he didn't have much money. Maybe, she's sin was avarice.
Wow, this was so good. I have just recently read the book, and you have perfectly captured the feel of the novel, and especially I liked the attention given to detailing, for example to the way Raskolnikov hid the axe within his clothes, and the pledge that he carried to the woman.
How does this only have 13k views? This is absolutely amazing. I mean just absolutely stunning. Incredible, incredible, incredible, and I can't praise it enough.
Awesome!! I love Dostoevsky very much and honestly, all of Russian literature in general! I come from the US but I seriously think that no other country can compete with the deep, imaginatively brilliant writing that has consistently come from Russia for *centuries!* Nobody else can illustrate the deep intrapersonal feelings of life and it’s experience and consequences like they do. They get to the soul of a person. I’m so glad to see one of my favorite novels being featured and illustrated for everybody to see! You are very talented and I love your selection for topics! I just subscribed and I look forward to more animations if you choose to continue! Thank you and good luck to you with whatever your endeavors may be!
Oh, absolutely, you took the words right out of my mouth ! I believe every nation’s literature has its unique and unparalleled qualities, and Russian literature has that air about it that truly grips the soul. Thank you so very much for the kind words, I am touched ! Your support means more than I can tell you❤️❤️
This video is simply incredible. I love it, I love how good you transported the book into this awsome animation and drawing style. It matches it incredibly.
Wow, their is so much talent hidden away on UA-cam. I love your style. It looks so smooth and easy on the eye and has loads of atmosphere and character too. Very good👍 Was recommended over here by Iwana.
It is the details for me, especially at the end when he was about to hit her that the axe blade was towards himself, meaning that he killed his morality with her.
Hello my friend, thank you for your concern ! I am taking a little time off of Instagram for health reasons, but I will be sure to return very soon ! This summer, I am hoping, if time and circumstances allow 💕
Hello there, thank you very kindly indeed ! Though the offer is extremely tempting, I am quite short of time at the moment, as I am studying😖 I appreciate it very much, though, and I will keep it in mind for the future !❤️

Yes yes
You're criminally underrated. That is so good and I love how you captured the details from the book
Aah gosh, thank you so very much !! I saw your C&P animation too some time ago, it is incredible❤️❤️
Criminally.
As an English teacher, I want to say thank you. You did an EXCELLENT job capturing details and representing Dostoevsky’s vision. Bravo 👏🏻
Oh gosh, thank you so very much ! I am beyond delighted to hear that !❤️
Oh my gosh this is so good, your art style and use of body movements are so expressive. Captures the disorienting atmosphere of the early chapters and Rodions wacked out mindset

100%, a movie in this style would be absolutely priceless
i love how fluid the animation is, how it changes sizes its like a old cartoon, overall this is very good
Awh, thank you so much ! I adore the fluidity of old animation, so that is a big compliment ❤️❤️
This looks amazing from the very first second. I audibly gasped when he looked exactly as I imagined him to be.
Awh gosh, thank you so much ! I am delighted to hear that, hehe❤️

The book has weird Geometry in it too, like Sonya's room is a weird shape. Raskolnikoff's room is short and long.
Это так круто анимированно. Вы передали атмосферу события,когда Раскольников решился на убийство
Большое спасибо мой друг❤️❤️
I just finished the book and i think this really fits the emotion in the scene. i wish i could see an entire adaptation in this style !
Thank you so very much ! I would absolutely love to, if ever I have the stamina 😆💕
This is like some sort of salad fingers roskolnikov combo, very creepy ! Good job
Hahah, thank you so much !❤️💚
yo i loved this im so glad it was in my recommendations!! i love the book and your art style (expressionism i think) is beautiful and unique!! 🥺💞
Aaw gosh, thank you so very much, that means the world to me !❤️❤️❤️
You've just animated this out of my mind. This is precisely what I had envisioned (and what you might have, too), and I am distraught to find an animation so living, so amazingly near to every description and detail, as if it came out of the odd illustrations of your head.
I’m re-reading Crime and Punishment right now. And the attention to details that you’ve added from the book is amazing!
Beautiful work! A great rendition of one of the best novel to exist, a whole movie in this style would be so great!
Thank you so much, I am honoured ! ❤️❤️
I like how the streets are empty, when in reality they could be almost crowded. It creates the feeling that rodion is alone in this world.
I must admit to you, I was short of time, hence the minimal attention to all but Rodya😆 Though it is a wonderful observation ! Your feedback brings me such a lot of joy. Had I more time, I would have drawn the streets crowded, but with their faces obscured, in order to achieve that effect.
HES A LITTLE BUG OMG HE LOOKS LIKE A GOOBER IN THIS ANIMATION
Stuff like this is what i pay the internet for 🤯
The axe was the other way around, i love it
Dude this is wicked cool! You captured the gritty scene from the book perfectly. The animation is fluid and lively and the little details do wonders for this video. Great job man!

This style goes hand in hand with the book so well! You've encapsulated the grimy city theme greatly as well! Good job!
This is so good, well done to a point. The way it's animated, it's art style - just perfect! It sets the mood and theme for the story, it captured the tension so damn well that it even sent me on a thrill, keep up ❤️
Do whole book
YES and PLEASE! 🙂
Hahah, maybe maybe 😆
the style kind of reminds me of Edvard Munch's The Scream. this is really well done, it's so eerie but enthralling at the same time, I was so unsettled but I just couldn't take my eyes off the screen
This is pretty exact
St Petersburg still looks like that
I love this so much! The backgrounds are so curvy and surreal and the atmosphere is amazing! The wind is a nice touch! I especially enjoy how none of the characters speak. It kindof reminds me of the thief and the cobbler, especially the overhead shot where (forgive me I'm only starting to read the book) the main character walks underneath. мурашки. это что-то уникальное
If Someday you think about create a whole serie in this type of animation and ambition, i probably Will watch everything with pleasure and admiration. This is ridiculous good!
Loved this!! Can you do a video of ‘notes from underground’?
Thank you ! I have yet to read the book, but I would love to animate more of Dostoevsky’s work in the future !
this would be a neat tim burton stop motion movie
just got the physical copy of the book not so long ago and im now reading it. an urge to search any clips abt this book came up and i saw this animation. this helped me visualize well whats happening to this scene omg, you did AWESOME

MY JAW ON THE FLOOR THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Oh my goodness, I’m so glad I came across this, it’s beautiful! The sweat on raskolnikov’s face right before the last moment is so cool
This is so good omg
And so, Raskolnikov ended the life of the elderly pawnbroker
Почему я вижу этот шедевр только сейчас? Гениально!
Аах, спасибо большое !❤️❤️
This is exactly how I imagined him while reading the book! It’s so good
What did she do? What is her crim What does he punish her for?
read the book lol
@feameldo
(I don't remember properly book's plot) he was mad at her, cause she required high pay for rent and he didn't have much money. Maybe, she's sin was avarice.

This is the exact vibe I felt when he killed Alyona! It was surreal like this tbh
I LOVE this. The ominous atmosphere, the way Rodion looks... Flawless.
Honestly, I just read this scene yesterday and how did this video get into my recommendations?????
Awesome!! I love Dostoevsky very much and honestly, all of Russian literature in general! for those who don't know, this is based off the book "crime and punishment"
this is perhaps the coolest thing ever
Amazing man, I hope this gets more recognition as time goes on because this perfectly illustrates what is said in the book
Beautiful! Dostoevsky would be proud.
This animation is the best animation about crime and punishment i've ever seen
