- The 1897 clock above 346 Broadway in New York City is one of the few tower clocks of its kind that is still running. It is under the care of Marvin Schneider, the city's Clock Master, and Forest Markowitz, who have kept it running for many years. Since developers bought the building from the city in May, the tower has been without electricity and the men have been winding the clock by hand.
Thanks for sharing this video with us! It's amazing to see that these two men are striving to keep this magnificent clock running and I do hope that their legacy will go on in the future!
I am building a tower clock for a facility in Stamford ct. would love to come and see this amazing clock. So glad to see this amazing work.
You are building it on your own? or is a team of construction workers doing it?
I would love that job, mechanical things have always fascinated me.
Very interesting. I have a new appreciation for clocks!
A new appreciation for time keepers as well
Well done guys , Great video and long may you carry on caring for this magnificent public clock.
Very nice to see an E Howard with a gravity escapement. Thanks for keeping it running!
Labor of love! Thank you gentlemen!!
Very nice video of the clock and the dedication of these two men. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely Beautiful Sir. I love it.
Good job on the video and thanks for keeping the old girl running. :)
Very nice job
That’s cool winding the big clock 🕰
Cały zegar przepiękny 👍
Super 👍👍
You know, I appreciate the historic value of this clock as it is. Looking around Google Maps, I began to wonder something. If a clock is meant to be seen so one can know the current time, how can one know the current time if the clock can't be seen from the street? From every angle, I can't see the clock at all looking it from down below. It seems to me the only way the clock can be viewed if it's seen from the upper floors of the buildings around it.
Cool!
wow that is amazing
wow bro 4 years
Nice video! Is than an E. Howard tower clock movement? It sure looks like it.
Andrew Barrett It is an E. Howard movement. It says that on the pilot dial.
So good actually wanted to do this a long time ago with the 12 bell 🔔 system in New York . So it's really lovely to see this now and the spiral staircase is massive bonus. 🍥🔝🍥🔝🍥🔝🍥. 👉. 🔔
Thank You. 💝💝💝. 🙏
I like clockwork and clocks!!!!
One of the few such clocks in the USA. Rather common in Europe.
Is it a big problem to provide electricity for winding machine?
mvtver there was no power
A problem with something being driven by electricity, aside from it would require a lot of power to have it going 24/7 a year, if there happens to be a power blackout then the clock will obviously stop and you need to wind it back to the correct time again.
MUITO BOA ENGENHARIA, BRASIL OK.
When will power be back?
This clock doesent have a Fly fan
So how does it break the mechanizm down
The Big Ben Clock in England is accurate to a couple of seconds, or they are very upset, and correct the time.. In the USA, "Well, that's about right".... No wonder we cannot even build a decent Chevy over here anymore.....
As a Brit i am highly offended at you calling Big Ben 'The' Big Ben. It is just Big Ben. It is like me Saying United States of the America
That crank is big enough for two of ya
What is mathematical equation for this clock
So the inside of clocks we've seen in cartoons were all fake.
Yes.
No elevator?? That sucks 😔
اللهم صلي وسلم على نبينا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين
.....
I wonder if that the same clock tower in gargoyles?
If these men can't wind it that you used to wind it back in the day before the electric motor?
I sit in the biggest clock in the world
Barbara Gordon Secrect Place
New York's Big Ben....... almost the came mechanical works...
Yeah just Big Ben's clock movement is far bigger and more accurate then this one. British Victorian Engineering for you.
If I were a rich person I'd save as much of this stuff as I could. It's part of a time that's about to vanish. Nobody even cares to here the stories anymore so they can retell them. It's odd to me the disdain our youth seems to have for the past. I don't know why it is.
That's because they were never taught the history behind things that have been created long before they existed. They've never been taught the value of historic locations like this one and how important it is to preserve the history behind it.

How much energy you put by crank shaft
If we use this energy in making electricity by Dynamo then will it cook the one kg food for me with microwaves oven ???👅👅👅
billionairs cant afford the power to clock only funny
