You and Swedwoods both inspired this Aussie guy to travel all the way from Melbourne to Gällivare Sweden for the sole purpose of hiking in Muddus National Park two months ago.. Seeing this video reminds me of why I need to go back in the wintertime...
Like any skill, the risk management steps for ice skating is something that can be learned. Erik tested the ice thickness with the pole stabs at the beginning, and perhaps in other ways this video doesn't record. I've just been learning how to do this this year. 10 cm is a very safe thickness. Not that that would stop me from feeling freaked out!
What stunningly beautiful scenery. There is little that is more spectacular than conifers laden with snow. And the sound of those skates blades on ice bring back childhood memories of being the first and solo on the neighborhood rink after it was flooded. Always love to see your videos and hope you keep them coming. Take care and be well. Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦
How wonderful to see you out skating,Erik! You make it look so smooth and graceful. The textures, shapes and sounds were stunning. The Coffee Holy Moment warmed the icy atmosphere. 👏👏👏👏⛸❄❄❄☕👍
I just loved to watch this with headphones. The sounds of the ice and the raven. I wish we would get those skating conditions soon in Finland too. A beatiful video!! Thx!
Tydligen du gillar mycket skridskoåkning, Erik 😊 Väldigt vacker video. Iskristaller, den klara och fina isen, dess ljud, din skickliga skridskoåkning. Tusen tack, Erik!
Every year, this kind of videos, are the source of full force envy. Hopefully the weather gods be so kind to provide some substantial ice-fun in the Netherlands. (Pray with me. We had our first freezing temperatures last night. ).
Absolutely lovely Erik! I live in a big city, a long way from the country and as winter approaches I long for the days I can get back out into the woods. Your videos always take me there, and I appreciate the calm, peacefulness of your videos. This video reminds me of 20 years ago when I got to live on a lake and one year it froze and we could skate on it. Perfect! Thank you!
Every Winter season you manage to produce something different from the neighborhood containing exquisite scenery of ice and snow, grasses and woodlands frosted and laden with that ice and snow. The opening scene was lovely. Thankyou for a beautiful video Erik. T. 🇭🇲🐞
You have ability to capture the freshness of cold winter starting. Beautiful filming with approaches 👍👋 Thank you for relaxing video & sound - Br, Janne
You have a way with cameras and sound. NICE!! I noticed how a large body of flat ice amplified that crow call in the distance. Those end still pictures where great.
Fint med ny is. Som barn var vi ofta ute med pappa å åkte skridskor på sjöar i södra Stockholm. Slutet på 50 talet å början av 60 talet. I dag e jag för feg att ge mej ut på sjöis. Kul å se. 😎🥰🥰
How are you today Erik? Cheers! A cold day! That my friend was quite the daring skate! The water/ ice is very clear, and clean, and does not look like it can carry your weight, but vey deceptive thru the camera! Take care! Peace!
Excellent video. I take my two young daughters lake skating here in Northern California high country when conditions permit usually in autumn. Then snow comes and cover the ice
Fantastic video. what is this skating boots called? they are amazing since it can be separated from the body of the boots. I have never seen them in real life.
Took my zandstra skates out for the first time today and they were much tougher to adjust to than I expected. I’m impressed you could put them on standing up! Also, what boots are you using to give enough stability? My bindings are mounted (from a dealer) much further forward on the blades; did you experiment much with that or how did you end up with the bindings so far back? Thanks
That was beautiful. I like that you captured more of that weird sound the ice makes, like a strummed wire under high tension. Do you hike much in those boots? If so, are they just for winter? Snowy conditions seem like that'd be best for those boots. I'm guessing you don't want to risk damaging that bar across the toe the skate clamps on to, so no rock climbing, ...
Som vanligt en mycket fin film. Minus 14! Top notch 👌.
Thats amazing Erik! Today we have more snow in my Hometown than in the rest of Germany. Usually it's the other way around. Freaky weather! :-D I´m wating for your coming Fjellskivideos!
You and Swedwoods both inspired this Aussie guy to travel all the way from Melbourne to Gällivare Sweden for the sole purpose of hiking in Muddus National Park two months ago.. Seeing this video reminds me of why I need to go back in the wintertime...
👏👏🙌
Oh, wow! That's some dedication! Did Muddus meet your expectations? :)
An equal amount of insanely beautiful and frightfully creepy. That black water looks soooo scary. But the peacefulness of it, oh. So beautiful.
Metaphor for life.
Yes it is and Erik looks so confident and relax skating on it and drinking coffee 😄 is inspiring.

Holy moment on skates
This video perfectly captures the magic of wild ice skating.
Thank you for a new video. I like your video very much. Its good for my soul
Is so beauthifull. It reminds me of Apetor and his frozen lakes.
This is my absolutely ultimate thing to do when winter arrives to Sweden. Gorgeous video-footage!
Peace, solitude and audio perfection. Great work Erik, take care - Chris
Thanks for the show. From New York. I did that when a little kid

How wonderful to see you out skating,Erik! You make it look so smooth and graceful. The textures, shapes and sounds were stunning. The Coffee Holy Moment warmed the icy atmosphere. 👏👏👏👏⛸❄❄❄☕👍
So cool! That looked like fun! I can hear the ravens. What a beautiful setting.
I just loved to watch this with headphones. The sounds of the ice and the raven. I wish we would get those skating conditions soon in Finland too. A beatiful video!! Thx!
Love your videos, especially with stunning views of Nordic skating in the wild
Who else drinks coffee during Erik's films. ☕👍
I could watch this for hours, the serenity it gives. Thank you Erik!

(Pray with me. We had our first freezing temperatures last night. ).
did you get any ice skating this season in the Netherlands?
We had several good windows here in south-central AK.
For the good time and have a nice day
Thank so much Erik
Wonderful environment! I would skate too, if only I could find this type of blades to fix on my boots. Thanks for sharing.
I love your films!
Great memories of playing hockey in a similar way on the ponds and lakes. I must look into the possibility of getting some Nordic skate. Thanks again.
I love these black ice skating videos, especially in the morning with frost, they couldn't be more fresh feelings out there!
Have never seen that type of ice skate in the US. The bindings are a fantastic idea! (SNS? NNN?) Thank you for posting this.
Thanks. Yes, bindings are Rottefella NNN.
@@erik_normark are those the alpina nnn bc boots?
My deepest envy and admiration as a figure skater (from Germany 😭) 🤍⛸️

Underbart vackert nu med rimfrost och iskristaller överallt, du fångade stämningen och skönheten så bra Erik, exceptionellt ljud också. Tack!
Tack :)
Superb!
I live for these vids of you skating. 👏👏👏👏
Эрик,ты,как всегда не подражаем!

Amazing sound.
You have ability to capture the freshness of cold winter starting. Beautiful filming with approaches 👍👋 Thank you for relaxing video & sound - Br, Janne
The video is just a majestic piece of art. Calming and super pleasing to watch ❤
This is high on my list of things yet to do in Sweden! When I move there this will be my number one winter exercise, I swear. ☺️
Hoping your enjoying your current winter .. missing these vids :)
It is a raee occasion when you can get out on frozen water that isn’t covered in snow. I would love to do this in the Boundary Waters.
You have a way with cameras and sound. NICE!! I noticed how a large body of flat ice amplified that crow call in the distance. Those end still pictures where great.
I loved the landscape and the special perspective & sound of the ice skating. 😊
the Nordic skating videos are the best should be a regular feature
amazing
So amazing! One of my dreams...thank you so much
Awesome audio and great camera angles!
This was one of the best videos ever.
I'm really excited to get to do this again. I finally live in a region where this is a thing again.
Beautiful! I was so looking foreward for the iceskating videos. I like them the most! The sounds are very soothing.
Greetings
Awesome! Great pictures. Thank You so much.
that video reminds me winter we had- looks like they gone - good recording and sounds
Skating on a lake like this is the only thing on my bucket list…and if I never make it this video will suffice.
Fint med ny is.

Tack Håkan. Ja det kan kännas lite pirrigt till en början :)
Hi , where to buy the blades you were using? Does it fit on any shoe or to buy a specific shoe?
beautiful... thank you for sharing!
All I can say is Thank You.
Frosty nature art with good sounds, beautiful.
Beautiful. Nobody captures audio like Erik. 👍🙂☕

Thanks Eric! Atb
Thankful for the great videos. Love the ice skating ones especially. Looking forward to the upcoming winter adventures.
love the sound of the ice resonating under the weight of the skates.
Really nice vid!
It reminds me videos from Tor Eckhoff, but without his absurd style of humour. ❤️
Excellent video. I take my two young daughters lake skating here in Northern California high country when conditions permit usually in autumn. Then snow comes and cover the ice
Watching while enjoying a cup of joe. 👍
Beautiful, you skate well too.
Thats amazing Erik, the best 👍👍.
That shot from 1:02 onwards is so good!
Winter wonderland.. So relaxing to watch.
Norway just keeps getting bigger on the map these days.
Fantastic video. what is this skating boots called? they are amazing since it can be separated from the body of the boots. I have never seen them in real life.

I’m really jealous, ha!
Great video. Good to see you back out on the ice.

Thanks Lyle. I use these boots also for cross country skiing, not so good for walking though.
@@erik_normark Makes sense. Thanks Erik. Cheers
👍👍👍 .. great visuals and sounds 😊.
Fantastic and incredible....thanks for sharing
Amazing! ❄️☕️👍
RIP Apetor
Where is this? Because I live close to Falun and ''skating season'' only just started here. 6/12
What a top video, thanks for making these 🥰

Does anyone knows in which month the ice is like this in abisko lake of Sweden?
