I'll be sure to get through all the comments later! I've glimpsed people adding their hints and theories (some that I legitimately didn't notice) and I'm happy that there're still more to be found.
8:14 there's no disrespect here since Firefly and Robin only died in dreamscape, while Himeko and Signora both were killed in reality. Nobody can be trusted in Penacony up to this point because they are all either not telling the full story or keep misdirecting the player, especially the part where Aventurine showed Robin's body to Trailblazer, that scene is so heavily staged that there's no way you can trust what's being displayed since anything can be manipulated in dreamscape if one is talented enough.
Part of what I like about Penacony so far is everyone really want to exploit Trailblazer for themselves (it gives his status as a Stellaron carrier more weight than any other planet we visited), and Firefly is also guilty of this to some extent. They all definitely know much more than us but we're made to feel like a lost sheep in this dreamland.

I think there's just one little details that people seems to forget: Firefly as a Sword . Does it change smt ? Idk, but it could because SAM don't have one as far as I know

4:36 My theory is that the SAM we fought in 2.0 was the Mecha on autopilot without Firefly as its pilot. And since Firefly was also talking with the Mecha, I'm assuming that the Mecha has a built-in AI. And the form with the wings and the green flame is SAM when Firefly is piloting the mecha.
at first i thought so too but if you look carefully when trailblazer comes across sam , you can see him breathing heavily. That's only possible if either sam itself is a "living" being or if there was someone present in sam as a pilot and most evidences so far indicate that sam is probably not a "living" and breathing being , meaning that firefly was most likely inside sam that time..

About point 3, if you choose the option to offer your bat to "resolve" the issue with the Bloodhounds surrounding Acheron, Firefly says that she doesn't think it is a good idea because a bat is an inefficient weapon. Meaning that A) Firefly knows enough about fighting to be able to point out if a weapon is efficient or not and B) that she prefers efficiency when fighting. What is the one thing we know about Sam characterization? That Sam is efficient and lacks the theatrics that Kafka or Blade have on the job.

Since Blade's theatrics is engraved upon his mind by Jingliu, I guess by extension, Firefly/Sam may see Jingliu's style as slightly "inefficient" if they ever meet despite Jingliu's more than a milennium of prowess, or it could also further show how Blade is still inferior to Jingliu

Another hint is that Firefly knew about encripted message on Penacony invitations. She mentions it on the roof. Maybe SilverWolf hacked IPC to learn about it and then she told that to Forefly.

One thing I feel like we missed because of how emotional we were was during the rooftop scene, she said “the invitation asked ‘why do living beings sleep,’ my answer is ‘because we don’t want to wake up’” (paraphrased), but how would she know about an invitation if she was just a stowaway? Especially the encrypted part (since the original invitation just welcomed them to the Charmony Festival and only the coded part asked the latter question).
I feel like an idiot now since I noticed that part and the whole weapon knowledge thing and just assumed she was another faction's spy. By the time we got to that fight in the TV room, my dumbass completely forgot all that and wasn't wondering why she wasn't summoning a weapon.
Something i want to mention: sam seems to be somewhat upset about fireflys death (he goes on a complete rampage and then goes to the lobby where he (brutally) kills more enemies) so i assume he also thinks shes dead maybe because elio didn't told him either

The thing is, it doesn't make sense timewise. How SAM could go into a complete rampage without crashing into us first? We literally take the same path as Firefly and SAM but somehow he can know that Firefly is dead, burn everything and get to the scene where she dies first and without crashing into the TB? What makes sense is that Firefly is in the suit at all times. And makes even more sense is when we take into account that the Acheron vs SAM fight is the same scene as when SAM is using the green power/pair of green wings in the White Night music video. To me Firefly is just unconscious when we fight with him but when SAM is alone with Acheron she takes control again and the wings come out.

At the very start of the Penacony quest, we meet Firefly as she is apprehended by some Bloodhound family goons who are accusing her of being the intruder in silver armor. They're describing Sam!!
Firefly death could very likely just an act. Remember they have Elio who can see the future and write out script for the Stellaron Hunter to follow. Like Blade for example, he act like he was crazy for revenge making us believe that Dan Heng’s in big trouble. But then he just stab Dan Heng once to force him to reveal his true power and dip out I believe the same thing is happening here. It was an act, Firefly is speaking with herself to stage a “betrayal” scenario that lead to her “death”. Probably because Elio told her Black Swan can reconstruct memory like a video tape, so her going in alone to investigate and get out safely might be too suspicious. Her “death” as Firefly would then give her alibi to freely act as “Sam” since no one would check up on a death person nor link them together after the “betrayal”
Remember, at the beginning Sam and Silver Wolf are talking about the script and how to go a little off script, what if Silver Wolf created an avatar for Sam? since the dream world would basically be another video game that can be hacked
My whole theory is, Firefly is a projection, a copy or simply an avatar that she could use while the real body was doing business. Maybe Silverwolf was remotely controling it to let Firefly do her thing or silverwolf programed an AI.

Both Robin and Firefly are most likely not dead in ordinary meaning. "Something unto death" can instakill characters in fight, but it rather traps them in that frozen state and I assume it does the same lorewise, so Firefly and Robin are imprisoned somewhere in Dream world, while IRL they probably in coma. I can't wait to meet Firefly again and I'm really curious how she will be explaining everything to us
The characters are also healed and regain energy when being returned. Could Firefly be hoping for a cure to her Entropy Loss Syndrome after being returned from the Meme's death?

4:57 it breaks my heart a little thinking on how Firefly felt having her hand that tried to reach for trailblazer swatted away by Acheron and thinking TB may have been in danger even. Plus Firefly probably knew TB from before the story even began, wonder if they were close before too? Story in HSR really getting interesting with all the small details
My theory is that the Stellaron Hunters did what exactly happened to Lesley Dean. They pooled their memories to synthesize Sam in order for the armor to help Firefly in the dream as she either cannot get into the dream with the suit or, most likely, she meant to reunite and plan to make a connection with the TB and also to spend time with TB as they are old friends while still following Elio's script. It's too much of a coincidence that the Lesley Dean quest was right on the dot for the number of people who pooled for the memories. 2 girls, 1 guy and the memoria essence of Lesley Dean = Kafka, SW, Blade and Firefly herself acting as the memoria of Sam.
Looking at the clockwork quests, it could also be that Firefly (some *spoilers* for clockworks if you haven't finished them) is one of Sam's guilts like the child killed in the car chase or the sibling who was pushed down the stairs. Odds of a connection between Sam and Firefly are decent enough, but they don't have to be the same person.

That could be used as a weakness for their group which will be detrimental to their plans and how they operate. I suggest reading stuff outside of the main dialogue and story as not everything that the characters say in Penacony is true. There are certain hints of what's to come and it's not from the main cast of characters.
I remember Aventurine in the story mention they were surprised to see the "ranger" and "hunter" together, but if you think about the times we met with Acheron, we have only ever been together with; 1. Aventurine himself in the hotel room, 2. Misha AND Firefly at the same time in golden hour, 3. Black Swan in the dreamscape (and 4. Black Swan and Firefly in the stab scene if that counts xD). Therefore, the "ranger" and "hunter", which in context is talking about Acheron and SAM, means that is either Firefly or Misha is or is connected to SAM, unless there are some behind the scenes meetings we don't know about. As the video points out, Firefly has lots of hints connecting her with SAM...
Also 1. The moment Firefly became a goo substance, there was a single fire colored firefly escaping out, hinting that she escaped. 2. She said that irl she was treated in an icy medical cabin. Maybe the cabin is Sam. Inside the armor is cold but outside is hot because of the flames.
RE: 1 - And the firefly thing is shown above Acherons hand, during the still picture of Acheron scene. RE:2 - I agree that it could mean it's the cabin of Sam. It also implies that with this condition she has, they she is in some state of suspended animation, that slows down the disease. But if it is because she is a genetically engineered human, then the disease is the side effect.
Her councious was inside that fake body Silverwolf probably created while Silverwolf was remotely controling "Sam" in the meantime. After she died, she went back to Sam, and she was really mad and started to wreck havoc.
I think there’s also one more detail when you came to Dream’s Edge with Firefly. If you ask her who she is, she said she would tell you, but not at that moment… So, why not there, but later? And why did she said sorry to us after getting ambushed by The meme? I feel like most of what Firefly said during the 2.0 quest are true, but not The Full Truth. Some people can feel like something was missing, but due to her personality and behavior, people would likely forget some of those details. I have a feeling we might see Firefly and possibly Robin in the future
Also, when Firefly was first captured by The Meme, the camera zoomed at her hand as if she was about to summon her weapon. And the detail that she managed to KO’ed an enemy you pointed out seems back this up a bit. And after the 2nd Meme encounter, Acheron and Black Swan said they were too focused on Firefly. Why her specifically, but not their surrounding? Could she be more powerful than she looks?

Acheron will change that fact that MC saves her, in this timeline, she will perish. Aiding the MC in a different way by creating a different ending this time. She cries when she wakes you up when you guys share a dreamscape, and you wake up crying as well. Meaning you guys are connected somehow. Only a memokeeper can freely move around the dreamscapes. Acheron will try to disrupt Elios plan. The red text she does are repeated questions linked to your history together. The most damning evidence that Firefly can pilot Sam is the color scheme is a perfect match, not to mention in the White Night trailer, Sam has green wings and green vfx. At the end of the trailer you can see the green fading from Sam, and sam fading into black.
But how Sam can act normaly if he's piloted by Firefly ? And how can be in dreamland like Firefy if we need a physical body in the real world to enters dreamlands ? If Sam is in there with Firefly, that's mean he's a living being.

So this mentions the Empress Titania controlled the iron cavalry telepathically. This makes me wonder if maybe Firefly can control Sam remotely - i.e is not actually physically in the armor when his boss battle takes place. Maybe she's more than just another member of the cavalry and is somehow a heir to Galmoth's throne? As for number 9, I will note that Sam, be he secretly Firefly in a suit or not, would already know the Trailblazer from their time as Kafka's protege/sidekick
It also sounds like Elios predicted Trailblazer but not Black Swan and Acheron. Cause he literally paid no focus on him and only the two from the visor. Then he said "you should not be here, leave and no one gets hurt."
He'd know Trailblazer, but he'd know Trailblazer's predicament and where his allegiances lie currently. Nevertheless: Sam doesn't seem to track us with an outline on his visor despite reaching to grab us at the end. Sam knows us better than we currently understand. And not just because Sam saw us as Kafka's partner. Sam saw us as Kafka's partner, and then later Firefly recognized us and ran to us for safety when she was about to be caught by the bloodhounds.
i’m not super big into game theories or whatever but i’m super excited to see what happens in the rest of the penacony story. like more excited than i was for the other ones. this theory is cool and fun
Another interesting thing is the sentences they use. Firefly says: "In my dreams, I saw a scorched earth." This wording of scorched earth is only ever used by Sam asides from Firefly. (And one simulated universe achievement) Sam's Ultimate has him saying "Scorched earth operations"...which is probably something he used to do in Glamoth or something.
Another hint for the road, related to Firefly's analysis of Sparkle-as-Sampo for her fighter potential, although one hinting that Sam might not be an AI distinct from Firefly. Messages from the Sterllaron Hunters, his lines in the Jepella short, and the comments about his slaughter of the mobs before facing Sam are all about how Sam values efficiency, especially in battle (which sounds like a logical conclusion for someone living on borrowed time, which is stressed by how Sam's attacks in Molten Reactor mode consume HP). And when we see Misha and Acheron getting accosted by the gangsters, if the Trailblazer proposes to go at them with their baseball bat, Firefly will immediately comment about the fact the baseball bat isn't an *efficient* weapon before backpedalling about the use of violence.

no need to cope, leakers already released Firefly and Robin's design and skills even movements. So both of them are not dead, since you will only wake up in reality if you die in dreamscape. Don't forget that everything that just happened in this patch's main story is in dreamscape where nothing is real, and nobody can be trusted, not even Black Swam.
As for point twelve here: I interpret Kafka's final character story as having a team of goons come to recruit her. He specifically tells the recruiter 'if Kafka either doesn't listen to my offer or otherwise ignores it, she's going to kill you. If that happens, I promise to ensure your desired future comes to pass after your death' -- from what little we know about Sam/Firefly, it's probable that their wish is to 'live' for real, and so not something that could necessarily be achieved if they were dead.
it may be just fire naturally being fire, but when acheron interrupted sam from a assumed stretch to catch mc, the fire behind his back when he leaped back (for a split second) looked like the green fiery wings in the music video when he was battling acheron

Wait, I just rewatched the death scene, and I noticed something. When Firefly first senses our group, she looks like she is ready to fight us and then relaxes after seeing who we are.
Another interesting theory I discovered while Mr. Pokke and Sweetily were discussing this suggests that a group of nameless individuals used to come to Penacony, which might have led to the Watchmaker becoming one of them. We have a task to achieve the impossible; in this case, causing a Firefly to die in the dreamscape might be one of the impossible things to do (because if you die in a dream, you are supposed to wake up, no matter how bad it is), which might help her get closer to the realm where the Watchmaker resides.

Sam being strong or not is not particularly relevant in a conversation of "Can Kafka kill him/her" when Kafka can just use Spirit Whisper to make anyone kill themselves, regardless of their strength, seeing as she easily controlled three strong fighters (Blade, Dan Heng IL and Yanqing) all at the same time, with DHIL being in shock. And with how strong Sam is, Acheron outpacing, outskilling and outmaneuvering him/her as easily as she did in that cutscene even with her sword sheathed makes Acheron the scariest person in the room by a big margin.
Yeah I realized that Acheron never once draw her sword out so far (which she has a reason for, apparently). Makes you think how strong she actually is. If what happened in White Night MV is real even upgraded Sam is still no match for her.
Something I noticed and mentioned in another comment section. It was likely a good thing firefly couldn't see clockie & misha. Clockie said at 14:13 that he's only visible to those with "innocence, kindness, and honesty of a child" likely meaning Acheron & Firefly were the opposite of what clockie mentioned. Firefly was already being sus enough as we met up back with her before her dream version died (she had a mission/agenda), which points her to being connected to Sam. Firefly says she doesn't want to make an enemy of you, the trailblazer at her secret spot. When you head to the middle area, you bump into Sam, who quickly shifts their gaze from the trailblazer onto Acheron & Black Swan (possibly during this scene, firefly/sam is experiencing the condition she told you about at her secret hideout before; she is literally fading away). If Sam could see Misha and clockie, even just Misha, it will likely spell doom for them and possibly that planet. Just a theory anyway.
Glad to see people are actually coming to this conclusion when pretty much everything is clearly pointing towards her being Sam. Its not even copium at this point imo. Also a theory that I like to expand on is, despite the TB being with Firefly for a very short time, they clearly cared deeply for her more than normal. The explanation could be quite simple since we know the TB used to be a Stellaron Hunter themselves so it wouldn't be all too surprising that after Kafka they would have been pretty close to Sam, so the TB's feelings might have been deeply ingrained in them despite remembering anything.
It's such a conundrum. If Firefly is indeed a part of the Stellaron Hunter that would complicate relations. If she's not then she will slowly wither away her mind. Unless she's a third party or that she was saved somehow by an unknown force. In the end, it still is part of Elio's plan just like how the Stellaron Hunter indirectly "saved" the Luofu by using the Astral Express crew. But my biggest concern is will she live or become/is an entirely different person?
6:22 If that is true, then either Acheron or Black Swan are also likely co-operating with the Stellaron Hunters, or at the very least with Firefly (and SAM). But it's also plausibly a dramatic Anime death trope.
Other clues: 1) Firefly seems to know about every major character sharing the same dream. 2) Firefly mentions that they don't have to be enemies. Why would she mention that and it didn't mean anything? Unless she is Sam. 3) Firefly's memory says "if that's the case" and Sam also says "if that's the case" at the end of the battle with Sam. It could be a habitual phrase that indicates Firefly is Sam. 4) Firefly mentions in the real world that she is kept in an "icy medical cabin", which could be the Mecha suit Sam. 5) When Firefly dies, you can see a small glowing yellow particle leaving her body. It looks like a Firefly. Also when Acheron says "return to the waking world" and there is a still picture of Acheron, you can see this Firefly (glowing particle) above Acherons hand. 6) Blackswan can see who is in the dream world. And she only detects Firefly, and does not detect Sam. Later on, she only can detect Sam visually.
And later Sam goes back to where Firefly died to retrieve the counciousness, so they would fuse/sync back together. It's interesting to note, Archeron was very confused by Firefly "visual" death, she even said she was ready to draw her blade but for some reason her body didn't react, as, she could not feel that Firefly's life was in danger, thus, not needing help. She felt guilty and tried to guide her soul, but it didn't work. Her soul being separated from her body can very well be a Silverwolf thing.
Wow you point out the hint! Actually i got this crazy idea too. But without noticing anything. When playing during the part where we follow firefly memory traces of some sort, i just got this weird feeling of 'what if firefly is sam and all this is staged so she doesn't have to be firefly anymore and can be sam without revealing she is firefly' kind of vibe. It be more easier with firefly 'death'. I'm not good with the background story so idk anything and this is just my instinct without seeing any hints.
Also when she shows you her secret base, she tells tb that she is aware the dream is shared between aventurine, acheron, memokeeper, tavern fool (probably sparkle) and her She somehow knew every faction involved but not the hunters, so her being part of them checks this aswell

The hotter the fire the lighter in color it is and that green is absolutely lighter Personally, it makes sense to me that when Sam it's difficult to function as they truly desire to, hence why Firefly exists at all: unburdened by the limitations of Sam's current reality. I also noticed something. in the fight against Sam there is this line, in English : "Once you're back in the real world, remember to tell everyone - About the Stellaron Hunter who was behind your ultimate depart" So I'm French and the French subtitltes specifically used the word "la Chasseuse" to translate the word "the Hunter". But "Chasseuse" is a feminine word, implying that Sam is a female, it would be "Huntress" in English I think. I remember I was a bit surprised because of Sam's mecha looks and voice, I thought he was a male. I even thought that was a mistranslation, but Sam being Firefly could explain everything.
Ngl Silver wolf’s ability of aether editing is so broken, it has so many possibilities. Like she could literally make Firefly a temporary avatar in the dream. Her death is definitely planned to motivate the trailblazer to save Penacony from their crisis. Because everything is going by a script, like how Kafka and Blade made it so The Xianzhou Loufu will be our future allies in defeating the Nanook. The main reason why I believe in this theory is that Firefly’s colour scheme is very similar with Sam’s wings. If you look her dress, it literally is wing shaped. Also there’s common troupe in anime of Human and Mecha Synchronisation which creates an even greater power. Another fact could be that Sam who is the armour is keeping Firefly alive from her sickness in the real world. So it would mean that she could not leave the armour at all time so Silver wolf had to make her a avater for her to not show up in the dream world wearing the suit. Since it’s confirmed that whatever you wear will be your appearance in the dream world.
One more thing I noticed is when Firefly was talking to you on the rooftop, she mentioned about the pressence of Black Swan, Acheron, Sparkle etc. How does she know about them? Perhaps Elio already told her in advance.
There was also a game cutscene looking part in the white night trailer where firefly was falling with gittering effects (0:45 white night trailer or 7:21 this video) which im hella sure is gonna come in the future (it just looks tooooo much like an ingame cutscene)
i don't think so, almost all of the scenes in white night were probably made specifically for the music video. if you look at the interstellar journey video from when the game launched, we don't have any of those cutscenes in game

There's an image leak of Sam in belobog. Firefly leaks show an overworld attack and a technique where she moves her hand from her hip and raises her hand. It also came with an asset leak of what looks like some small item. The technique is probably her using the item to transform into Sam, like jingliu going into transcendent state using her technique. So you probably can walk around as Sam, though limited
I find it unlikely that Sam is an AI or autopilot. When we get to the dreamscape, Black Swan surveys and finds everyone there. Including Firefly. I find it very difficult to believe that she'd miss Sam. Even, if you argue that Sam is not a person and that's why she didn't spot him... We're talking about a professional Garden of Recollection Memokeeper. Firefly, in the memories, was probably talking with Silver Wolf through an earpiece.
I've watched several of these Sam is firefly type videos, and none I had seen, had mentioned the comment firefly makes when following and listening to each of her holograms. She sounds concerned, and mentions something to the nature of. 'No. Mecha what are you doing?' (I don't remember the exact wording, and don't think I can go back in the story to find it) this occurs right before she is led into a room where she is now isolated and tries to find her own way out. I thought this one of the biggest hints, as to Firefly being directly connected to Sam (With 'mecha' likely being Sam's suit).
It’s pretty clear Firefly is a tactician “Empress” in question and SAM is an iron knight. This explains why SAM went on a killing rampage after Firefly was gone. Their behaviour is rather different from one another. Also, Glammoth adopted this beehive structure after the swarm while fighting the swarm, hence the enhanced human and short lifespan. If you remember firefly exploded on death exactly like a swarm bug, that’s why, and being the queen of the hive imply her having a weaker physical body but a sharper mind, possibly she also has her own mecha suit but most likely SAM did fighting for her in the dreamscape.

Fair Warning, prepare for a long post: I always found it strange that people would say that Sam was a female, until I finally got the context. Before experiencing the story of 2.0 I had made a theory: Let us entertain the thought that Sam IS piloted by a girl. How would you explain the male voice for the machine then? It’s simple. It’s how Sam is programmed, and it provides an edge for FF to go in for covert operations, such as her exploration in the dreamscape. It will also get people off her tail from the fact that she is a Stellaron Hunter since Acheron and Black Swan were ignorant of this possibility. Granted, it’s still unconfirmed regardless of the connections that the video presents (I am not trying to be dismissive as this video is informative, but I am someone who does not want to get his hopes up until the actual reveal). Another point in the theory I had is that the girl piloting Sam is potentially crippled or paralyzed in some way so she cannot live a normal life. This was a thought I had before 2.0 and the knowledge of FF’s backstory mind you, which is somewhat close to the disease she faces with that will ultimately lead her to a vegetable state. Although she loses her motor functions and eventually falls to insanity, there must be something that Elio provides to keep her “afloat” aside from the dream giving her life back. Furthering my assumption of the girls condition was due to an old sound clip that was leaked on a YT video or short where Blade talks about Sam, mentioning how although he wishes for death, Sam seeks life. Which brings, perhaps, another clue to Sam being Firefly while also bringing about the idea that Sam is an Ai that is envious of the living. However, it seems this voice clip was not finalized and could be a retcon of some sorts, since Daman (Blades VA) has a different tone when explaining how Sam brings purgatory, being distinct like a Horseshoe Crab in shallow water. However, this is due to Daman probably not voicing Blade in quite some time making it clear that when Blade talks about Sam is an entirely new voice clip on the release of 2.0. Now, do I believe FF=Sam with all these possibilities? Yes and no. When I think about it, I like to believe that they are separate entities. A human girl and an AI that could have been with her maybe since childhood, or could be the same case with Svarog and Clara where he acts like a guardian and found her amidst the conflict of Glamoth. Also, take note of their personality differences. Sam is more calculated and ruthless while we fight him, while Firefly is gentle yet sharp. Anyway, I am eager to see how this unfolds.
A story leak from a couple months ago said that genetically engineered humans (such as firefly) were created for the sole purpose of piloting molten knights (Sam) my theory is that Sam has its consciousness as the system of the mech and helps firefly out in piloting him. Firefly does most of the moving and fighting while Sam deals with strategizing and logistics, micromanaging every aspect of the mech suit. The sam in the dreamscape is either in temporary autopilot with limited abilities or dreamscape shenanigans gives him control of himself that he wouldn't get in the real world without firefly, which if you can remember, if not in her medical cabinet, is always inside Sam because of her disease

I'm glad that this is the common theory, especially considering the game gives it a good try to make us think otherwise with several characters trying to steer us away from this conclusion (Black Swan, Aventurine, possibly Sunday when he speaks of "spiritual death"). Extra glad you caught #9 though, I feel like people will brush it off as "Oh Sam knows us from the Stellaron hunters" but really that, and his final move on-screen being to grab us, rather than to actually punch, burn or kick us, really makes me think it was a set-up by Black Swan to have Acheron fight Sam. Hell, Aventurine even applauds her for triggering that conflict there. I assume he means how Black Swan cut off the context of the "Mecha... Why?" line so that Acheron believed Sam was the betrayer. I imagine she said something like "You're after the mecha... Why?". Which leads me to the speculation of who her real "partner" who betrayed her was: Gallagher, the guy who bailed her out with several strange lies.

Nobody can be trusted in Penacony up to this point because they are all either not telling the full story or keep misdirecting the player, especially the part where Aventurine showed Robin's body to Trailblazer, that scene is so heavily staged that there's no way you can trust what's being displayed since anything can be manipulated in dreamscape if one is talented enough.
Part of what I like about Penacony so far is everyone really want to exploit Trailblazer for themselves (it gives his status as a Stellaron carrier more weight than any other planet we visited), and Firefly is also guilty of this to some extent. They all definitely know much more than us but we're made to feel like a lost sheep in this dreamland.

at first i thought so too but if you look carefully when trailblazer comes across sam , you can see him breathing heavily. That's only possible if either sam itself is a "living" being or if there was someone present in sam as a pilot and most evidences so far indicate that sam is probably not a "living" and breathing being , meaning that firefly was most likely inside sam that time..

About point 3, if you choose the option to offer your bat to "resolve" the issue with the Bloodhounds surrounding Acheron, Firefly says that she doesn't think it is a good idea because a bat is an inefficient weapon. Meaning that A) Firefly knows enough about fighting to be able to point out if a weapon is efficient or not and B) that she prefers efficiency when fighting.
What is the one thing we know about Sam characterization? That Sam is efficient and lacks the theatrics that Kafka or Blade have on the job.

One thing I feel like we missed because of how emotional we were was during the rooftop scene, she said “the invitation asked ‘why do living beings sleep,’ my answer is ‘because we don’t want to wake up’” (paraphrased), but how would she know about an invitation if she was just a stowaway? Especially the encrypted part (since the original invitation just welcomed them to the Charmony Festival and only the coded part asked the latter question).
I feel like an idiot now since I noticed that part and the whole weapon knowledge thing and just assumed she was another faction's spy.
By the time we got to that fight in the TV room, my dumbass completely forgot all that and wasn't wondering why she wasn't summoning a weapon.

The thing is, it doesn't make sense timewise. How SAM could go into a complete rampage without crashing into us first? We literally take the same path as Firefly and SAM but somehow he can know that Firefly is dead, burn everything and get to the scene where she dies first and without crashing into the TB? What makes sense is that Firefly is in the suit at all times. And makes even more sense is when we take into account that the Acheron vs SAM fight is the same scene as when SAM is using the green power/pair of green wings in the White Night music video. At the very start of the Penacony quest, we meet Firefly as she is apprehended by some Bloodhound family goons who are accusing her of being the intruder in silver armor. They're describing Sam!!
My first thought when they mentioned that was Sam. Then her confirming later on she was the stowaway now makes sense.

I believe the same thing is happening here. It was an act, Firefly is speaking with herself to stage a “betrayal” scenario that lead to her “death”. Probably because Elio told her Black Swan can reconstruct memory like a video tape, so her going in alone to investigate and get out safely might be too suspicious. Her “death” as Firefly would then give her alibi to freely act as “Sam” since no one would check up on a death person nor link them together after the “betrayal”
Remember, at the beginning Sam and Silver Wolf are talking about the script and how to go a little off script, what if Silver Wolf created an avatar for Sam? since the dream world would basically be another video game that can be hacked

Both Robin and Firefly are most likely not dead in ordinary meaning. "Something unto death" can instakill characters in fight, but it rather traps them in that frozen state and I assume it does the same lorewise, so Firefly and Robin are imprisoned somewhere in Dream world, while IRL they probably in coma. I can't wait to meet Firefly again and I'm really curious how she will be explaining everything to us
The characters are also healed and regain energy when being returned. Could Firefly be hoping for a cure to her Entropy Loss Syndrome after being returned from the Meme's death?

My theory is that the Stellaron Hunters did what exactly happened to Lesley Dean. They pooled their memories to synthesize Sam in order for the armor to help Firefly in the dream as she either cannot get into the dream with the suit or, most likely, she meant to reunite and plan to make a connection with the TB and also to spend time with TB as they are old friends while still following Elio's script. It's too much of a coincidence that the Lesley Dean quest was right on the dot for the number of people who pooled for the memories. 2 girls, 1 guy and the memoria essence of Lesley Dean = Kafka, SW, Blade and Firefly herself acting as the memoria of Sam.
Looking at the clockwork quests, it could also be that Firefly (some *spoilers* for clockworks if you haven't finished them) is one of Sam's guilts like the child killed in the car chase or the sibling who was pushed down the stairs. Odds of a connection between Sam and Firefly are decent enough, but they don't have to be the same person.

There are certain hints of what's to come and it's not from the main cast of characters.
I remember Aventurine in the story mention they were surprised to see the "ranger" and "hunter" together, but if you think about the times we met with Acheron, we have only ever been together with; 1. Aventurine himself in the hotel room, 2. Misha AND Firefly at the same time in golden hour, 3. Black Swan in the dreamscape (and 4. Black Swan and Firefly in the stab scene if that counts xD). The most damning evidence that Firefly can pilot Sam is the color scheme is a perfect match, not to mention in the White Night trailer, Sam has green wings and green vfx. At the end of the trailer you can see the green fading from Sam, and sam fading into black.

This wording of scorched earth is only ever used by Sam asides from Firefly. (And one simulated universe achievement) Sam's Ultimate has him saying "Scorched earth operations"...which is probably something he used to do in Glamoth or something.

Messages from the Sterllaron Hunters, his lines in the Jepella short, and the comments about his slaughter of the mobs before facing Sam are all about how Sam values efficiency, especially in battle (which sounds like a logical conclusion for someone living on borrowed time, which is stressed by how Sam's attacks in Molten Reactor mode consume HP).
And when we see Misha and Acheron getting accosted by the gangsters, if the Trailblazer proposes to go at them with their baseball bat, Firefly will immediately comment about the fact the baseball bat isn't an *efficient* weapon before backpedalling about the use of violence.

a group of nameless individuals used to come to Penacony, which might have led to the Watchmaker becoming one of them.
We have a task to achieve the impossible; in this case, causing a Firefly to die in the dreamscape might be one of the impossible things to do (because if you die in a dream, you are supposed to wake up, no matter how bad it is), which might help her get closer to the realm where the Watchmaker resides.

Sam being strong or not is not particularly relevant in a conversation of "Can Kafka kill him/her" when Kafka can just use Spirit Whisper to make anyone kill themselves, regardless of their strength, seeing as she easily controlled three strong fighters (Blade, Dan Heng IL and Yanqing) all at the same time, with DHIL being in shock.
And with how strong Sam is, Acheron outpacing, outskilling and outmaneuvering him/her as easily as she did in that cutscene even with her sword sheathed makes Acheron the scariest person in the room by a big margin.
Yeah I realized that Acheron never once draw her sword out so far (which she has a reason for, apparently). Makes you think how strong she actually is. If what happened in White Night MV is real even upgraded Sam is still no match for her.

Something I noticed and mentioned in another comment section.
It was likely a good thing firefly couldn't see clockie & misha. Clockie said at 14:13 that he's only visible to those with "innocence, kindness, and honesty of a child" likely meaning Acheron & Firefly were the opposite of what clockie mentioned. Firefly was already being sus enough as we met up back with her before her dream version died (she had a mission/agenda), which points her to being connected to Sam. Firefly says she doesn't want to make an enemy of you, the trailblazer at her secret spot. When you head to the middle area, you bump into Sam, who quickly shifts their gaze from the trailblazer onto Acheron & Black Swan (possibly during this scene, firefly/sam is experiencing the condition she told you about at her secret hideout before; she is literally fading away). If Sam could see Misha and clockie, even just Misha, it will likely spell doom for them and possibly that planet. Just a theory anyway.

Glad to see people are actually coming to this conclusion when pretty much everything is clearly pointing towards her being Sam. Its not even copium at this point imo. Also a theory that I like to expand on is, despite the TB being with Firefly for a very short time, they clearly cared deeply for her more than normal. The explanation could be quite simple since we know the TB used to be a Stellaron Hunter themselves so it wouldn't be all too surprising that after Kafka they would have been pretty close to Sam, so the TB's feelings might have been deeply ingrained in them despite remembering anything.
It's such a conundrum. If Firefly is indeed a part of the Stellaron Hunter that would complicate relations. If she's not then she will slowly wither away her mind. Unless she's a third party or that she was saved somehow by an unknown force. In the end, it still is part of Elio's plan just like how the Stellaron Hunter indirectly "saved" the Luofu by using the Astral Express crew. But my biggest concern is will she live or become/is an entirely different person?
My personal headcanoon is Firefly's wish will be granted here and she'll become healthy in reality. Idk how they'll pull it off tho, haha.

Other clues:
1) Firefly seems to know about every major character sharing the same dream.
2) Firefly mentions that they don't have to be enemies. Why would she mention that and it didn't mean anything? Unless she is Sam.
3) Firefly's memory says "if that's the case" and Sam also says "if that's the case" at the end of the battle with Sam. It could be a habitual phrase that indicates Firefly is Sam.
4) Firefly mentions in the real world that she is kept in an "icy medical cabin", which could be the Mecha suit Sam.
5) When Firefly dies, you can see a small glowing yellow particle leaving her body. It looks like a Firefly. Also when Acheron says "return to the waking world" and there is a still picture of Acheron, you can see this Firefly (glowing particle) above Acherons hand.
6) Blackswan can see who is in the dream world. And she only detects Firefly, and does not detect Sam. Later on, she only can detect Sam visually.
And later Sam goes back to where Firefly died to retrieve the counciousness, so they would fuse/sync back together.
It's interesting to note, Archeron was very confused by Firefly "visual" death, she even said she was ready to draw her blade but for some reason her body didn't react, as, she could not feel that Firefly's life was in danger, thus, not needing help. She felt guilty and tried to guide her soul, but it didn't work. Her soul being separated from her body can very well be a Silverwolf thing.

When playing during the part where we follow firefly memory traces of some sort, i just got this weird feeling of 'what if firefly is sam and all this is staged so she doesn't have to be firefly anymore and can be sam without revealing she is firefly' kind of vibe. It be more easier with firefly 'death'. I'm not good with the background story so idk anything and this is just my instinct without seeing any hints.

Personally, it makes sense to me that when Sam it's difficult to function as they truly desire to, hence why Firefly exists at all: unburdened by the limitations of Sam's current reality. They're the same, overall, as far as I can tell.

So I'm French and the French subtitltes specifically used the word "la Chasseuse" to translate the word "the Hunter". But "Chasseuse" is a feminine word, implying that Sam is a female, it would be "Huntress" in English I think.
I remember I was a bit surprised because of Sam's mecha looks and voice, I thought he was a male. I even thought that was a mistranslation, but Sam being Firefly could explain everything.

Ngl Silver wolf’s ability of aether editing is so broken, it has so many possibilities. Like she could literally make Firefly a temporary avatar in the dream. Her death is definitely planned to motivate the trailblazer to save Penacony from their crisis. Because everything is going by a script, like how Kafka and Blade made it so The Xianzhou Loufu will be our future allies in defeating the Nanook. The main reason why I believe in this theory is that Firefly’s colour scheme is very similar with Sam’s wings. If you look her dress, it literally is wing shaped. Also there’s common troupe in anime of Human and Mecha Synchronisation which creates an even greater power. Another fact could be that Sam who is the armour is keeping Firefly alive from her sickness in the real world. So it would mean that she could not leave the armour at all time so Silver wolf had to make her a avater for her to not show up in the dream world wearing the suit. Since it’s confirmed that whatever you wear will be your appearance in the dream world.
One more thing I noticed is when Firefly was talking to you on the rooftop, she mentioned about the pressence of Black Swan, Acheron, Sparkle etc. How does she know about them? Perhaps Elio already told her in advance.

i don't think so, almost all of the scenes in white night were probably made specifically for the music video. if you look at the interstellar journey video from when the game launched, we don't have any of those cutscenes in game

There's an image leak of Sam in belobog. Firefly leaks show an overworld attack and a technique where she moves her hand from her hip and raises her hand. It also came with an asset leak of what looks like some small item. The technique is probably her using the item to transform into Sam, like jingliu going into transcendent state using her technique. So you probably can walk around as Sam, though limited

I find it unlikely that Sam is an AI or autopilot. When we get to the dreamscape, Black Swan surveys and finds everyone there. Including Firefly. I find it very difficult to believe that she'd miss Sam. Even, if you argue that Sam is not a person and that's why she didn't spot him... We're talking about a professional Garden of Recollection Memokeeper. Firefly, in the memories, was probably talking with Silver Wolf through an earpiece.

I've watched several of these Sam is firefly type videos, and none I had seen, had mentioned the comment firefly makes when following and listening to each of her holograms. She sounds concerned, and mentions something to the nature of. 'No. Mecha what are you doing?' (I don't remember the exact wording, and don't think I can go back in the story to find it) this occurs right before she is led into a room where she is now isolated and tries to find her own way out. I thought this one of the biggest hints, as to Firefly being directly connected to Sam (With 'mecha' likely being Sam's suit).

It’s pretty clear Firefly is a tactician “Empress” in question and SAM is an iron knight. This explains why SAM went on a killing rampage after Firefly was gone.
Their behaviour is rather different from one another. Also, Glammoth adopted this beehive structure after the swarm while fighting the swarm, hence the enhanced human and short lifespan.
If you remember firefly exploded on death exactly like a swarm bug, that’s why, and being the queen of the hive imply her having a weaker physical body but a sharper mind, possibly she also has her own mecha suit but most likely SAM did fighting for her in the dreamscape.

Fair Warning, prepare for a long post:
I always found it strange that people would say that Sam was a female, until I finally got the context. Before experiencing the story of 2.0 I had made a theory:
Let us entertain the thought that Sam IS piloted by a girl. How would you explain the male voice for the machine then? It’s simple. It’s how Sam is programmed, and it provides an edge for FF to go in for covert operations, such as her exploration in the dreamscape. It will also get people off her tail from the fact that she is a Stellaron Hunter since Acheron and Black Swan were ignorant of this possibility. Granted, it’s still unconfirmed regardless of the connections that the video presents (I am not trying to be dismissive as this video is informative, but I am someone who does not want to get his hopes up until the actual reveal).
Another point in the theory I had is that the girl piloting Sam is potentially crippled or paralyzed in some way so she cannot live a normal life. This was a thought I had before 2.0 and the knowledge of FF’s backstory mind you, which is somewhat close to the disease she faces with that will ultimately lead her to a vegetable state. Although she loses her motor functions and eventually falls to insanity, there must be something that Elio provides to keep her “afloat” aside from the dream giving her life back. Furthering my assumption of the girls condition was due to an old sound clip that was leaked on a YT video or short where Blade talks about Sam, mentioning how although he wishes for death, Sam seeks life. Which brings, perhaps, another clue to Sam being Firefly while also bringing about the idea that Sam is an Ai that is envious of the living. However, it seems this voice clip was not finalized and could be a retcon of some sorts, since Daman (Blades VA) has a different tone when explaining how Sam brings purgatory, being distinct like a Horseshoe Crab in shallow water. However, this is due to Daman probably not voicing Blade in quite some time making it clear that when Blade talks about Sam is an entirely new voice clip on the release of 2.0.
Now, do I believe FF=Sam with all these possibilities? Yes and no. When I think about it, I like to believe that they are separate entities. A human girl and an AI that could have been with her maybe since childhood, or could be the same case with Svarog and Clara where he acts like a guardian and found her amidst the conflict of Glamoth. Also, take note of their personality differences. Sam is more calculated and ruthless while we fight him, while Firefly is gentle yet sharp.
Anyway, I am eager to see how this unfolds.
A story leak from a couple months ago said that genetically engineered humans (such as firefly) were created for the sole purpose of piloting molten knights (Sam) my theory is that Sam has its consciousness as the system of the mech and helps firefly out in piloting him. Firefly does most of the moving and fighting while Sam deals with strategizing and logistics, micromanaging every aspect of the mech suit. The sam in the dreamscape is either in temporary autopilot with limited abilities or dreamscape shenanigans gives him control of himself that he wouldn't get in the real world without firefly, which if you can remember, if not in her medical cabinet, is always inside Sam because of her disease

I'm glad that this is the common theory, especially considering the game gives it a good try to make us think otherwise with several characters trying to steer us away from this conclusion (Black Swan, Aventurine, possibly Sunday when he speaks of "spiritual death"). Extra glad you caught #9 though, I feel like people will brush it off as "Oh Sam knows us from the Stellaron hunters" but really that, and his final move on-screen being to grab us, rather than to actually punch, burn or kick us, really makes me think it was a set-up by Black Swan to have Acheron fight Sam. Hell, Aventurine even applauds her for triggering that conflict there. I assume he means how Black Swan cut off the context of the "Mecha... Why?" line so that Acheron believed Sam was the betrayer. I imagine she said something like "You're after the mecha... Why?". Which leads me to the speculation of who her real "partner" who betrayed her was: Gallagher, the guy who bailed her out with several strange lies.
