So I have a Stratoliner most likely and SE though there was no mention of Se on the box when I picked it up in a San Antonio hat shop. There was mention of the name coming from the Stratoliner airplane which was first flown in 1938 (Boeing Model 307 Stratoliner.) Age old question which came first: the shape of hat which needed a snazzy name or the plane?
The hat was a jet age kinda thing, trying to sound modern and streamlined, I suppose..I’m response to the jet age and all the technology that was unfolding at the time,

Yes, it’s kind of an older style, those downturned brims were very trendy when the Australian craze became big,after the crocodile Dundee film, years go,,they still make it, u can buy one on Amazon even. We stopped selling it, they slowed down a lot in NYC, the Stetson Dune kind of took over as the number one Stetson safari outback style,
But they make them still,
What about the classic royal Stetson.?
Royal Stetson is a series, not a model. They have a bunch of hats at one price they put a royal lining in them,
If the hat is a little more expensive they put a royal deluxe lining in it. they have others too Sovereign series, which is below the royal.. but most of those dress hats I mentioned, saxon, whippet, stratoliner,Selby.. they’re all either royal or royal deluxe series stetsons..
Is the bow/ribbon always on the same side of the hat ? Idk just came to mind hahaha. If yes, I wonder why.
Hope JJhats has the s.e. stratoliner thos fall :) mailing my ultralight stratoliner there think August to get wider band. Just a tad wider. And guess I've been lucky. So far out of 4 Stetsons haven't had any issues with fitting perfect yet.

That’s right, Charles is absolutely right, left side for a guy, right side for a gal, that’s the way to tell if the brightly colored fedora is really a men’s hat or not.. but u can also put a bow in the back, it looks cool. Called a back bow, u see it on vintage hats
