Restoring A 300-Year-Old Wood Sculpture Of St. Paul | Refurbished | Insider
We have restored countless statues over the years - most of them dating from 100- 175 years old. Your work is beautiful and inspires us! Thank you Sara! And congratulations!
This made me think, what's the oldest object I own. My dad and I have bought and sold mostly American antiques for years. Most are 100 to 200 years old at best. But one thing came to mind. I have an 800 year old Chinese throne. I don't know much about it other than what place it sat for 800 years. I wish I knew how to find this stuff out.
I don't know much regarding the process, but I imagine you could reach out to a museum or other groups interested in historic items and get some information.
Don't try to " restore" it whatever you do.
Damn can I see some photos of the 800-year-old throne?
Auction house and museums are usually very friendly in receiving questions, good luck!
Amazing work..!! Thank you for the update, Insider..!!
It was so relaxing , so satisfying and just amazing🕯
Agree 😊
Great video. Please next time consider thay the viewers are not all Americans, if there's no closed caption, I only understand half of what she's saying. Sorry. 😅
Hello, what type of paint do we use to restore a statue? Acrylic paint, oil paint or other?
St. Paul, pray for us now and at the hour of our death ✝️🤍🙏🏼
Don’t be so dramatic poppet
Here in my country we have a city with the same name
Although an artifact of a dark chapter in history, the music is chill and seeing the technical know how that goes into the restoration is fascinating
This is not restoration. It is reconstruction. And not according to modern concepts of restoration.
Explain
His enormous head is simply outrageous
How much would this restoration cost?
Retouching should be done with fine lines to separate original from restorative inpaint.
Where can I see this beautiful piece of our collective history? Is it in a museum? Who funds your work?
What’s that beautiful guitar song in the background?
6:12 he looks sad after the restoration
He's looking more downward there
Beautiful work...❤

That face and beard, I thought, “Jesus”. I’d expect Paul to be bearded but bald.
Amazing👍
bad speaker. I can only understand half of what she says.

Hi, this was incorrect restoration process. After that, this statuette it really fell in price, and very much so. The figurine has lost its historical value. A competent collector will not buy it...
She says it's owned by a private collector. They can do what they want. She is a professional art restorer. She's probably so grateful for your comment because she had no idea about the info you shared with her.
Just make a new one 🤔
Je trouve votre art très bien. Pourriez vous indiquer quels produits vous utilisez pour cette restauration ? On aurait eu besoin de vous à la cathédrale « Notre Dame de Paris ». 😂
Excellent
Over restoration Philistines
You shouldn't " restore" things that old. You've destroyed it.
Get lost. Time will make sand out of it. Better repair it instead of letting it wash away.
@@vm360fly It wouldn't disappear simply because the paint is old and worn. Very foolish to repaint it and lose the patina of centuries which also serves as proof of its age and origin. It's something really only the ignorant engage in. I suppose you'd polish an ancient bronze as well?
@@kirbywaite1586 a think the same while watching this
@@bigpapa870 it's criminal.
surprised they didn't paint him black with lipstick and a skirt
Poor quality bait
Right
I would have used spray paint lol
Over-saturated, now it looks like a tourist souvenir garbage...
Hello sir please add me game task
Is this not idolatry in the highest form .... ?
It is, he reinvent the teaching of jesus into becoming more like pagan
By restoring a statue??? Are all statues "idolatry"?? How do you assume idolatry? Is someone worshipping it by restoring it? Even if you wanted to assume something more than what the video is about, historical figures except for the trinity are not idolized or worshipped. Google it.
Damn he's handsome
