    Preach!!!! I rode dirt bikes in my teens, took 20 years off, and am back on a KTM 250. The Rekluse with a LHB is fantastic. People shit on paddle shifters 10 years ago, I have a GTR, I can't imagine it with a regular manual.

    I have been considering one of these and my 450 needs clutch plates. Thanks for the confirmation that Rekluse is the right choice.

      +MrBowser2012 You are welcome. I am sure you will love it. There are tuning options for rpm engagement and how hard it engages and disengages by changing the springs and wedges inside the Core EXP disc itself. I will be making a video about it soon. Cheers!

    Very good video ..... finally someone gets the real advantage of the rekluse. I race D37 desert and love my recluse on my 300 husky. I can run a gear higher in tight tech sections and blast by someone with just throttle and out accelerate without wheel spin. A few weeks back with a dead engine start I started in 2nd hit the button and twisted the throttle just rocketed off the line amazing. Love my Rekluse on my 300 smoker.

    Great explanation. I bought a new 2109 husky te300i for mostly enduro and hopefully some mx. I’ve been riding with 6 experienced riders who all have the Rekluse and they’ve been steering me towards the Rekluse. I’ve been apprehensive stating that I’d like to master the clutch and then decide which way to go. Their response: don’t wast your time. Your vid may have just convinced me to abandon ship and install the Rekluse. Thanks bud

      Vincent Stagliano your clutch still remains usable with the auto clutch so you can still master it as well

    Hey did you put rekluse on that 650r? Would xr650r work properly with it? Thanks

    • @pennyontrack
      @pennyontrack  7 років тому

      No I haven't yet but I plan on putting one in it. It should work great but one thing that you would have to be aware of with any big powerful engine and using an auto clutch(more so with bikes that you cruise on the open road with like a 650R than it is with a motocross bike like a 450 on a track) is you might be slipping the clutch if you are cruising in a high gear with a low rpm and not realize it. A big bike has enough power to make it feel like the clutch is grabbed because you are still cruising along just fine but really you can be lugging so low of an rpm that the clutch is backing off slightly and your clutch plates and oil will be burning up from . Engagement rpm can be adjusted with the springs and weights in the core disc but it would be something to keep in mind when riding.

  • @XRSskidooXRS

    Do you have this installed in a 125? I am curious as to if it would be beneficial for a 125 two stroke where the bike has less bottom end power than the four stroke competitors.

    • @pennyontrack
      @pennyontrack  8 років тому

      I have mine installed on a 150. This will help a 125 as well if you set it up right.
      Two strokes all have lackluster low rpm performance and on a small two stroke engine the problem is even more apparent. If you properly set up the auto clutch it will help just as much on a 125 or possibly even more than a 150. If you put in the auto clutch and tune it so that the engine doesnt engage until a higher RPM than it allows the engine to get into the powerband before the load is applied to the engine. The springs that Rekluse will send inside the Core EXP disc wont get the rpm very high before it engages so you will still feel a bog but if you put stiffer springs(sold seperatly by Rekluse) inside the Core EXP disc it will raise the RPM up to a point where the bike is making some power. Best mod you can do for a small bore two stroke if done right.

      You're welcome and thank you for saying I explained it well. I still haven't made a follow up video about the springs as I am still testing them but so far I am have tried running all the spring colors for the springs inside the core-exp disc and like the Gold springs best which are the heaviest springs/highest rpm for engagement that rekluse makes. I feel like even heavier springs could be better but the Gold springs work really good. Its a great mod and I also got the left handed rear brake from Rekluse which is worthy of its own video as well. Not having to move your foot to brake is awesome. Much better control of braking power and better grip on the bike. Thank you

    I'd love to try one on my Kdx 200 ,i bet it would help a lot on single track trails when my clutch hand gets tired.

    • @pennyontrack
      @pennyontrack  6 років тому +2

      alabama dual your clutch hand shouldn't get tired at all because the only time you will need it is for popping the front tire up over stuff. All the slow riding parts you won't even bother using it manually after you ride with the auto clutch for a while and get used to it. Never stalls either which is nice on trails. Even for opening gates its nice you just put it against a fence post and hop off and it stays running while you open the gate and you don't have to sit there and look for neutral to get it to stay runnimg

    • @tylerponder2807
      @tylerponder2807 6 років тому

      Kyran Iwaskow if you have ever rode single trac you would know that you use the clutch a ton and i personally believe rekluse clutches should be banned from enduro and gncc makes a rider lazy and hurts actual skill. It will make it more challenging witch is the point of hare scrambles and enduros.

    • @pennyontrack
      @pennyontrack  6 років тому +1

      I understand what you are saying. Lots of people would say the point of racing is to win races and it would be hard to say that banning performance parts would make racing better. There is no end to the things you could do to a bike to make it more challenging to ride. You could limit power, tire size, rpm, get rid of fuel injection, make minimum weights for bikes in each class, standardize gear ratios on sprockets, force people to run low octane fuel, ect

    • @tylerponder2807
      @tylerponder2807 6 років тому

      Yes you bet. The old models of reckluse couldn’t and that’s why they have a bad reputation to some people. The new core exp clutches they sell work just like a normal clutch if you want to use them that way to hop over a log or rev it up like crazy to clear a jump.

      B's Adventure yea there is little info out there on it. Rekluse has a couple good videos but they really aren’t properly showing off all the advantages of it. Anything a normal clutch can do it can still do. There are different springs you can put in the core exp disc to change the engagement rpm to go higher as well. To be honest there really isn’t a disadvantage that I see as long as it is set up properly

      HansenDrums yes with the new auto clutches you have the same manual control of the clutch as you normally would without the auto clutch. The old ones used to not have the manual over ride or it would not feel the same on the clutch lever and that is why people sometimes still say that you can’t manually operate the clutch.

    Can't bump start...and no engine break when going down hill. Other than that I do like my Rekluse, however I still clutch up over logs (double blip) and clutch around corners in MX as well as feather the clutch up steep hills. If you think a Rekluse will stop the need for awesome clutch control you are wrong.

    • @pennyontrack
      @pennyontrack  7 років тому

      What springs do you have in the core exp disc? What bike is it on? I have the highest RPM springs for engagement(Blue) and if you shift down with my bike it engine breaks. You are right about there still being times you can manually use the clutch and gain an advantage that the auto clutch wont do. The longer I have had the auto clutch the more I have realized that.

    • @robertsnyder5522
      @robertsnyder5522 7 років тому

      Kyran Iwaskow I can't remember which springs I put on there. It's on a CRF450R. When I down shift it engages but downhill it goes in and out or I have to blip it to get it to engage.

    • @pennyontrack
      @pennyontrack  7 років тому +1

      The kit for the 450s will come with the stiff springs for in the core disc and the pressure plate. Might get more engine braking if you put lighter springs in the disc so it stays engaged at lower rpms. Your kit prob comes with two different springs for the disc.

      Right from the Rekluse KB's : Let's start with what a auto clutch is not - it is not a automatic transmission.
      Still have to shift, can't just totally get rid of the clutch either but could just use for initial placement into a gear. Just you could dump it and bash it into gear.
      Using the clutch to power shift under power is still faster than cutting throttle to loosen the tranny load to shift.
      As said above having manual clutch override and control is still super important! You never need to jump a car over a massive log or float the front wheel over a bad rut or roots.
      Want LHRB on a dirtbike get a clake then can have both foot and hand but remember now you only have your 2 weakest fingers to hold the bars. On a mountain bike as there is no clutch is better when not shifting unless have a fixy still need a finger on brake and back and fourth on the shifter for a 1x even. Mountain bikes are also RHRB default unless you MX them yourself or have a shop swap brake lines for using from pure muscle memory if you ride motorcycles at speed.
      How many pro's run them, not many most if anything Rekluse use the manual so faster, not so much, if where faster then the fastest guys would run them. Can it make slow(er) guys faster, yeah I think so but best they ride a standard for a while and learn control before switching as that will make more of a improvement. IMO
      Car, well that's a whole another topping, be sticking with my Tremec T56.
      Great product though but clearly still not understood nor comparable to a automatic transmission not just over stating one thing in all cases in better than another.

      Good post. One thing to consider about why pro racers run certain equipment is due to their sponsors. This was one of the driving forces for Chad Reed said to start 22 motorsports. He had products he wanted to use but the team he was racing with wouldnt allow it. If your team uses Hinson clutches it dont matter if you want to run a Rekluse because they wont let you.
