    The problem only with the caro is that it takes 2 tempo to get counterplay compared to the french. Black alr spend a move on c6 which requires it to play 1 more move for c5. 2nd is to get the bishop out and play e6.

      But in the end you don't have a bad French bishop and your opponent also don't have their best attacking piece(white colored bishop) so after you succesfully develop and castle you have much better endgame position compared to the French one

      Well and the problem with the french is the exchange variation, where if you want to achieve something you have to take risks. Not to mention the bad bishop in some french lines. There are trade-offs in both openings

    I think its the opposite. The advance french is not scary for black, and the knight can come to c6 faster to put pressure on the center

    A tendency I have noticed in your game is that when you want to create Luft you don't consider playing h5/h4 instead of h6/h3. 25:05 Here that that was clearly the weaker choice.

      You should try pushing the e or c pawn one more step and then you will get a good game.

      There's a reason why Caro Kann hasn't been played in WCC match since 2013 Anand-Carlsen. French was played literally few weeks ago.

      Literally advance French scores 50% for black in 24.5 million games on lichess database compared to 48% of the advance Caro in a similar amount of games (24.6 million approximately). Statistics speak for themselves.

      @@CitoVorleone Halloween gambit scores 54% for white, does it also make that a better opening than Ruy Lopez (with 51%)? And also what you said is not statistics, it's just reading out loud one value.

    6:10 you’re about to waste 1 min calculating what to do against Na4 where white obviously just had Nxd5 on Qb6 ahah

    1. I don't know if I like the small introduction and since there wasn't one in the previous game that you lost it feels like it spoils the result. 2. Why tf do people resign this early?

      @bluefin.64 Місяць тому

      When someone resigns in a position like in the video, you can't assume they thought they were losing. It could have been for many other reasons that had little or nothing to do with the game.

    Caro is an improved French to %99,9999 of the players in the world in general. You arent playing a piece down unlike in the Nf3, tarrasch or advance lines, exchange variation is actually fun to play. An alive bishop is always better than one tempo. Black probably will lose the tempo back to try to get rid of the bishop anyways

    I've seen a few YT videos (or maybe only one) with Bd3 recommended by stronger guys than me. As I'm a simple guy this is beyond my understanding. Exchanging your good bishop against your opponent's bad one is bad strategy. 3.e5 Only can be justified by the Short Variation 4.Nf3 or the Tal Variation 4.h4 - perhaps 4.Nc3 e6 5.g4.
    As Black I've played 1.e4 e6 2.d5 d5 3.e5 c5 4.c3 Bd7 5.Nf3 a6 and ...Bb5 a few times and got good positions. With 4.Bd3 White plays an inferior version.

    Ngl he resigned waaaay too early I would’ve at least waited till rf1 kf7, and even then i might play a little longer

    opponent likely feels like a bumbling dumbass for resigning with so much time on the clock when he had that resource.
