Great looking truck! One suggestion is to change location of NACS to front passenger, or rear driver.
Rear driver? Have you seen the stretched street charging cables across the frame of EVs when charging dock is on driver side?
@@CSAFMedia nope. haven't seen street charging either. What % of people street charge, compare to supercharging or parking lot charging? Passenger Front is always an option that fits Tesla Supercharge networks as well. Do that.

Awesome design! One of the best looking SUVs on the market.
One very thoughtful touch was the power rear glass feature. Rolling down front door windows for ventilation creates annoying wind patterns and unecessary noise in the cabin and also negates sunblocking tint if present. Pushing all that to the rear quarter will create a much more pleasant air flow for passengers without the drawbacks of previous designs. I’d hype this a liitle more.

Being a shareholder , I was so happy to finally see some good news from Rivian. But when hey announced that it's going to start production in 2026! Man that's a long time..... And so many companies from the rising sun are coming big with big cars and pricey....I hope it's not to late.
Again, Tesla left such a big gap in the Australian market, removing their top of the range vehicles, that Rivian could use that opportunity to sell. I know it's right hand drive, but such a rare opportunity

EV almost doesn´t need aerodynamics or Cx, when you charging purely from 10-years solar or propeller in your house, after returning their investment. Energy is free, because of SUN. Boxy and roomy will be more and more "IN" and practical. GO Rivian and let´s build a RIVAfactory in Slovakia, Europe. You are welcome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did they drastically cut the overall weight? Did they get away from lithium battery yet? Has the range drastically increased? And most importantly has the time from 10% charge to 100% charge been reduced to less than ten minutes yet?

They need to focus in reducing cabin noise. In the R1S the rear seat passengers can't hear what the front seat people are saying when on a highway.

Honest question about the charging location:
Like others, I'm not a fan of it. But my reason is just because of how my driveway was made and how my wife and I park.
But that aside, people are talking about how its going to be bad for Tesla charging stations.
Is there some reason you couldnt just back into the charging spot to charge?

i have a quick question. why did Rivian decide to name their new SUV, R2? shouldn't it have been called R2S? does that mean that there won't be a second gen R1S? curious to see what your guys' thoughts on this are.

How does Rivian get such good aerodynamics with such boxy shapes?
if you have the wind at your back, you don't need any aerodynamics. You don't even need it in a city where 50 km/h is allowed. And if you charge the EV with rooftop solar from the sun or from the propeller, then you have completely free aerodynamics. Boxy shapes are practical, more roomy and boxy is "IN"

Ich lebe in Deutschland und wünsche mir ein geländegängiges E-Auto (BEV) mit Typ2 und CCS; ein Allradfahrzeug mit ordentlicher Anhängezuglast und soliden Zurrösen für Überfahrten auf Autofähren bei stürmischem Wetter mit entsprechend hohem Seegang. Natürlich sollte es trotzdem stressfrei in Parklücken und Parkhäuser hier in Europa passen.

I really want this company to succeed. I just don't see how it can, when it's losing >$40k on each vehicle it sells. How can it sustain itself 2 more years until the new models come out?
That is the question. I have test driven an R1T and it was pretty great. Stopping me is lack of a service model (on the test drive at the service center the Rivian employee told us they sometimes have customers wait 2 months plus for appointments), Still promising a lot of things in software updates that do not exist (V2H, etc) , still no power tonneau cover, and their corporate stability. I looked around 3 weeks ago and the announcement of how much they are losing is really disturbing. The announcement of the R2 , R3 and R3X look neat but in 2026? Why even announce it? Sounds like a ploy to get reservations so they are solicit funding to stay afloat while they try to figure it out. Don't get me wrong, it's a really nice vehicle... would love to buy one but I am going to wait a bit, see if they really get NACS on the trucks and how they work out of this money mess they are in.

I like the R2, a lot. But until the Rivian front end looses the oval nipples, no thanks.
I think you guys missed making the R2 the swiss army knife competitor for the Tesla model y. The model Y with a optional 3rd row and frunk and trunk storage and ample of space is just a better package. Im assuming the 45k is the base model while may be the top trimp will be 55k-60k for which you can get a KIA EV9 with additional seating is a better option.

Dismissing this footage as not "in the wild" because it was captured by Rivian feels disingenuous and overlooks other possible meanings of the term. Rivian is using the phrase "out in the wild" to describe the vehicle being on the open road instead of in a showroom.
