Was at Jeff's memorial concert in LA, a bunch of musicians showed up and played even George Harrison..RIP Jeff..
I have a daughter who is beautiful and the sweetest human I ave ever known, and is non-diagnosed, other than having a very low IQ. But she takes gorgeous photographs, and sometimes expresses brilliant insights I've never imagined from other people. Jeff's comments brought me to tears.
I got to see him twice. He's missed. His playing was so solid and by all accounts he was a real solid guy.
These conversations with Mr. Baxter are nothing short of awesome. They've given me more insight into him than everything else I've ever seen on him over the years.
Wonderful work sir. Take care, and have a great day.
My wife and I are among a very select group (I'm guessing) who were lucky enough to see see 17 year-old Jeff Porcaro drumming for Sonny & Cher in concert in March of 1972, and then two years later with Steely Dan in April 1974. I keep hoping to hear from another fan who saw him with both groups, but so far no luck. We first noticed Jeff drumming on the debut episode of "The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour" in August 1971, because he looked young enough to be a member of The Partridge Family.
I remember getting a glimpse of him on that show; even then he had that certain crisp but tight accompaniment that seems to work as "punctuation" for the song. It's something you can pick up in much of his recorded work, and is what made him such an in-demand drummer, and is especially present in his work with Toto.
This guy is talented and a good guy. I've watched alot of PBS on autism. I use to work for a pizza a place and one of the my favorite customer had a child with autism. The young man and I got close. I called him little man and that would put a smile on his face.
JP was a magician and is sadly missed
Jeff Porcaro will always be my favorite drummer.
Saw jeff at the Iridium in NYC back in june great time, great band and sound very tight.
Sounds like a Great guy. Standing up for humans on Spectrum.
Lgendary playing And solos too 🎉👌
Amen
Jeff and Jeff ... a dreamteam! ❤
Always loved his work rip brother never forgotten😔🙏❤
What a terrific interview, Skunk and Jeff are both legends.
Please have Skunk back again sometime ? He's super affable & knowledgable- entertainingly so !!
🚬😎
Amazing. Cheers John for featuring the great JP x
This was incredible for all sorts of reasons! Thanks!
Jeff is one of the smartest people on the planet, what he said is so dead on, everyone has a gift, a talent, we need a better system that finds those talents instead of labeling people. America is big on labeling people and then selling them pills, mainly SSRI drugs, and those make things worse, not better.
I love hearing stories about Jeff P
That file question is silly
My all time favorite drummer!
Thanks!
Cool that he would take the time to comment on the use of the designation of "autism". Could've just let it slide by and not said anything. Seems like a very kind and compassionate guy, aside from his extreme talent.
♥
This was pretty good...who says Rock artists are not " perceptive"....
Baxter perceptive? He is, and has been the USA’s foremost civilian authority on missile defence, and since the early 80’s. He has level 6 clearance at the Pentagon, the highest a civilian can have.
Dyslexic people come off very stupid around simple people.
