Swapping out Pan Am locomotives for Vermont Railway Locomotives....... handing off cars from one railroad to another. Neat to see when you can catch it.
I enjoyed watching this video. The railroad thru my town just reopened last March but now there is talk of it closing for good. They're not doing any maintenance on the line so if a bridge has problems, that would do it. Anyway, nice video again as always!
+Jaw Tooth Well that's terrible starting up the railway and then closing it down that's not fun at all, for some reason I cannot get my messages back to you do you have your comments turned off
barese420 No, I didnt turn them off. I dont know what would cause that. I'll have to see if I can figure it out with my limited computer savvy. Lol. We had a great time at Christmas with the family. Happy new year to you!!
What RR did Pan Am hand the cars off to? Is the old Vermont RR? Do u ever see Matt Bowie of the TV show Ex. Trains he works for Pan Am I guess up that way so he said on his shows.
I always wondered why you see the second engine travelling backwards. I never realized that it was for hook ups when switching trains and trucks or cars. Am I correct? I agree, Bennington station is quite a site. Thanks for posting.
Yes you are Dan you are right the first train comes in they switch the tracks it goes to the right the other train comes in on hooks other train comes up hooks on and off it goes
The second engine is is usually backwards so the engines do not need to be turned for the return trip. Nothing to due with the coupling. Usually the engineer remains in the lead unit and the brakeman or conductor on the ground guides the engineer through the coupling. Hard hits aren't always the engineers fault!
An excellent video, except that I think you might want to invest in a tripod. Also, less usage of the zoom would make it a much more watchable presentation. Thanks.
Vermont Railway was created by the State of Vermont to take over when the Rutland Railroad went belly up as the result of a strike. It started operations in 1964.
Island Line Rail Productions I just saw this post the north Bennington train station has been closed down for years and then it's got started back up again

@@barese420 No worries, a monopod has only one leg, (hence mono). They are great for a compact photo/video shoot - either way, they don't need to be expensive - I use sub $AU 100 units, and they both work very well. I'll have a look around and see what I can do. I have a Panasonic HD video, as well as my Galaxy S8 cell phone, and a Panasonic SD video camera. Good luck with your videos, they seem OK, apart from the shakiness.
CanadianRailfanner12 They actually are not SD70ACes though. They are SD70M-2s. There are no noticable differences between the two locomotive models except that the ACes have vents on the equipment box, the M-2s don't.
+CintiRailFan Thanks my friend yes I can't wait to get back out there the last 2 Fridays have been Christmas and New Years no trains have been runningHappy new year my friend
Can I ask pan am railways are from where sorry I have neaver heard of them or seen there box cars and would one box car ever end up in portland Oregon thanks Dave
GRS, Guilford Rail Systems/PAR-PAS, Pan Am Railways-Pan Am Southern were made up of 4 northeastern regional railroads, B&M/Boston and Maine, MEC/Maine Central, ST/Springfield Terminal and the D&H/Delaware and Hudson. Guilford originally sold off the trackage rights on the D&H routes but it is my understanding that through an agreement with NS/Norfolk Southern, they share trackage rights through the "Patriot Corridor", formerly D&H track.
Dale Pelot Back in the day this is where the Boston&Maine railroad would do interchange with the Vermont railroad! Then Guilford and now Pan Am does the honours! This goes way back! Back in 1984 my parents and I took a trip to Bennington. But we weren't there on the right day. But I did get some excellent photos of the station! And that alone was worth the trip!

Love the engines, riminds me of the Alaska railroads livery
yeah that a different paint scheme than all other vermont railway locomotives have
myguess is that they are former Alaska RR units. And if I'm not mistaken (which I easily could be), these were also repainted into VTR red.
No problemo, i understand completely sir, ive got a deep voice with a lot of volume, 😎
Nice! I wonder which FEC units they were 100, 101,102,103 it's a shame they got rid of them
Those SD70M-2s look like either EX Alaska Railroad or EX FEC
Love 🚆 its relaxed me when I've had a work smart not hard days of work
That is very nice but also very spooky looking railway station great video.

Why didn't FEC keep these engines longer?
What would they do if an ambulance is rushing a person to the ER ?
Those thank cars loaded? Nice video
Nice video
Not too far from Mechanicville.
We didn't see the Pan Am Railroad leave? Did they hook up to the other slurry cars and then leave? Have fun, Roy
CONTAINERMAN68 it'll run back and pick up the next set of slurry cars and the process will start over again
Are those ACe's or M-2s?
Shane's Trains57 M-2's
The main switch they use is now in my backyard
those locos look like ex-BNSF
microbusss the blue and yellow ones are Ex-FEC

1:24, that's a loud ass bell.
32 cars? U don't need but 1 locomotive.
Why change engines?
It depends on how long they've been running if they come in from Rutland they switch engines so the other guys can take it to New York
