Austin. I wanted to thank you for all the help. Your video was amazing in detail. My gx is ready just like yours !!!! You are the man. Well done my friend. Anthony in N. Carolina
Hi there, thank you for the detailed walkthrough. May I ask, while the aux cable provides higher sound quality, is it necessary? Is it possible to play the sound through Bluetooth from the unit to the car? Thank you
Yes I play audio through the car's bluetooth sometimes. But if you want to play audio and get turn by turn directions from CarPlay then you need to play the audio through the CarPlay. I never plug my phone into the CarPlay wire unless I want to charge my phone. I play through bluetooth carplay if I want CarPlay audio. I wanted to install everything possible so I didn't have to take the dash apart again to install something. Hope this wasn't explained poorly.
@@austinc691 thank you, regarding the power to the fuse box. I ordered the part you use, can you take a pic of where it should be connected? I assume it’s in a section where the CarPlay unit will turn on and off as you start/stop the engine. Thank you.
@@carloxsaysYou can kind of see it at 9:54 of the video. The power supply is tapped into the 10 amp fuse at spot number 35 for the "cool box". You can view the diagram here: fuse-box.info/lexus/lexus-gx460-urj150-2010-2017-fuses The power to that fuse is only on when the car is on. The CarPlay screen will turn on and off with the engine.
Thank you. I don't know much about electrical work. I saw a system with a relay switch that I thought would work and I decided to use it. It has been working great
Great detailed video, setup looks great. Where do you have your camera mounted for that view? Also, is it necessary to cut out a notch into the console (where the wires leave the monitor) to get the panels to close or can it close with pinching the wires?
Thank you. The camera is underneath the lexus logo. You can view it on my other video about the LED light bar. I think it is necessary to cut the notch in the console so the wires don't pinch and the OEM screen piece can be put back on. If you do it correctly you can't see the part that is cut out when the OEM screen is put back on. Put a piece of tape on what is showing with the OEM screen in place. Remove the screen and cut the notch below the tape. Hope that helps.
I know it has been a year since this video was uploaded but I am currently stuck in a situation on how I should be able to connect the front view camera to the AV in port on my carplay unit (a new unit brand named CarPodGo3 Pro) I ordered a switch too so now I'm not sure what do I do next.
Does your camera plug fit into your CarPlay screen AV input or is your issue with turning on your camera with a switch? What camera and switch did you order? I found a camera plug that fit my screen input of 2.5 mm.
@@austinc691 Yes my camera plug fits into my carplay AV Input, my main issue is turning the camera on with the switch, the camera that I have came included with the carplay unit, and the switch is on amazon called "Car DIY Switch Paste Type wired LED switch Rocker Switch ON/OFF Universal DC12V Switch" and I apparently can't put in a link to the switch because youtube would likely automatically delete the comment I replied with.

I have my phone connected to Android Auto on carpuride with bluetooth. The carpuride is connected to the car audio with bluetooth. The android auto directions are through the car audio but when i get a call the call audio goes to the speaker on carpuride. It does not play through the car audio.
