So glad to hear this, Andrew. I own 13 flight controllers. 10 of them are the original F405 Wing. As an IT guy, I know how important standardizing is for ease of workflow and repeatable results. Haven't bought an FC in two years. Sounds like I may have found my new FC to standardize on. As always, appreciate your work.
just forgotten to mention: matek AliExpress price incl. shipping and VAT is 59€ Speedybee FC for Wing is 38€ and I had ordered already 3 of these. I will not pay 21€ or 66% more for a Matek FC - even for a mark 2 too late too expensive
+ is not in the middle on the cam and vtx plugs on V1. Fried a cam forgetting that. On every other 3 pin Du Pont plug I have ever seen it's in the middle to prevent that. I figured Matek did that for a semi-good reason having to do with the layout.
Ive got a brand new unused original, waiting for my 'dream' RC Explorer Tricopter.... The USB has always been of concern to me... With all the latest other Matek boards having a 'remote' USB I was REALLY hoping a v2 version would use the same method... As excited as I am to see a new-er of the original brought back, I am SO disappointed they kept USB directly fixed to the board- new USB just means I'll now have to get ANOTHER lead to lose! :v That being said, I'll probably pick up one of these to stick aside & finally break out that original I still have... ;) Looking forward to seeing the pricing on these- thanks for sharing!
They redesigned ya favourite FCU mate. Stick it on the Ranger and send it Whale watching.... I would like the 280PanCam on it also thanks.. (MPU6000 is a resource issue)..
3:48 the way those camera and vtx plugs are supposed to be rotated 90 degress relatice to the UART plugs next to them is a bit awkward. If you have stuff that needs a uart but cant run from 5V (digital fov systems come to mind) then you have to crate split plugs if you want to use more than one of the 9V pins.
Hello Andrew, could you please please let me know how to wire up the DJI 03 Air unit on the F405 wing V2? I don’t want to burn up anything and would appreciate some help please 🙏🏻. I’ve seen your video so I can prob Co figure it using Inav7 , just not too sure where to place the cables in the board . Please help
I don't have the 03 but my V1 Air units connect to 9V and G (underneath the VTX pin) and Rx and Tx go to T3 and R3 pins with UART 3 set as MSP DisplayPort
Can I read the signals in another Arduino based board? I plan to use this but also display nice information directly to a mini TFT LCD in front of the camera for FPV of course.
If it is configured to use GPS then it won't arm until the minimum sats are acquired. Can set that to be zero sats but it's not recommended. But you can use INAV with no GPS
matek did not supply fc in the past years and therefore I was happy when SpeedyBee released their fc for wings in 2023 and got 3 already cause they are affordable and well thought through. Sad that Matek missed to deliver in times when there were no supplies cause I had waited for something better quite a long time. Now they are there but too late and too little to switch back. Good video, but the product and manufacturer has lost reputation meanwhile.
No breakout board, no plugs, no Bluetooth
I stay with Speedybee 💪
As much as i love Matek. You can not beat the speedy bee wing board...£35 onboard Bluetooth tooth and all the whistles...it's a no brainer

I'm so glad to see people designing USB-C into maker products. It's such a versatile and useful connection method
It really is!
Now let us see their price setting. Hopefully near that of the Speedybee 405 Wing
It's 50 bucks. Not bad considering
@@RubyS.1Still not as good as £35 for the speedybee...🤔

Couldn't agree more, and iv over 9 Matek boards. Speedybee is killing it.
Always appreciate the help!

Just get the speedybee wing and call it a day. Amazing board full of features
@@k1ortia Sadly, it's not 30x30 mount spacing & it's almost as, if not more bulky as the Matek with its erect USB poking up in the way...
@@bleeksbentbits3150 True. But still a better specced FC for the money

Yes, that's what I usually do. 2 x 2pin plugs. Means I can easily swap Rx and Tx too
ANDREW, would this work on the Heewing T-1 for a vtol build? you only mentioned 2 motors for plane.... Thanks for your help.
Yes you can change servo outputs to be ESC outputs

@@AndrewNewton thank you so much for your reply Andrew . Will give it a bash ..
Nice videos you do :)
I need a FC that can acts as an autopilot for a fixed wing plane. Does this serve that purpose ?
Yes, it's designed for RC fixed wing
Thanks! 👍💪✌
Have you powered a caddx peanut or runcam thumb thumb with this board? What pins would you use? Thanks
Any 5V and GND. I often use a spare servo output
Подскажите.эта система может работать как гироскоп на флайбарном вертолете?
Maybe with Ardupilot, but I don't know helis

Yes it does support basic info on an OLED screen, but not all the telemetry
si puo' avviare il motore senza usare il GPS?

What GPS do you recommend for this board that will be installed on a fixed wing?
Beitian BN-880
can i use this for a twin engine vtol plane(hee wing t1 ranger)?
Beyond my knowledge sorry. Ask on the INAV FBFWG

You know you always hear again and again F4 would go the way of the F3 . Gone .
F411 and F722 will go but F405 is going strong
I am planning to order one but struggling which one to choose. Is Matek 405-Wing V2 a good one to match with MFD Crosswind 1600?
Yes it would be good. Could also look at Speedybee F405 Wing, AtomRC NAVI, Matek H743 Wing. They are all excellent
I just want to say that your hairline is astounding for your age.
Haha, chose my ancestors well
How it should have been first time around TBH....Most illogical layout IMO....🤔😳😳🇬🇧
