I’m using the Rotel a11 with a pair of Wharfdale Denton’s 85th A. and am deeply impressed with the audio quality. Superb soundstage and realistic sound delivery. I’m using Tone bypass and haven’t noticed any overt treble. They are very new and I believe that bass becomes more pronounced as the speakers get some ‘exercise’.

Just bought the A11 tribute on sale at Crutchfield for $650 and I must say this review has me very excited to hear what this thing can do in my home with my speakers. If this thing is a steal at $800 then $650 was a no brainer!
Hope you do the same with a couple of floorstanders and this amp. I like standmounters, but you have to keep in mind that you have to pay for the stands the mount them on. Sometimes floorstanders make more sense in terms of bang for your bucks.
Great, detailed, no bullshit review, thank you! I am curious tho, you said the Rotel sounds great on the Linton's, but it still doesn't bring out their best qualities. So could you do an amp comparison for the Lintons? A few amps and how they perform with these speakers?
I am just breaking in my new A11 Tribute and B&W 607s (not l606s), which I chose because I got them for a SCREAMING deal! Not broken in yet, but I'm very pleased. I hope too upgrade speakers one day, but from what I'm hearing now, I'm not in as much of a hurry as I thought I'd be.
We find a lot of audio professionals gravitating towards the Lintons and other speakers with a mid-range bump for pleasure listening in order to get away from the detailed sound of audio engineering and mixing.
Really like the combination of my old Rotel amp with my kef r300 and hope to hear them with the A11 tribute soon. Not sure if it has enough power. Otherwise I’ll might chose the A12.
These videos are a number of years old now and unfortunately we are no longer in the position to do a side by side comparison. Your best bet would be to test them at your nearest dealer.
You are absolutely right about the Denton 85th. Being familiar with the Lintons, I too was very surprised when I first got the Dentons. I did not expect them to have this forward treble. However, the Dentons have a bi-wiring option. How did you connect them? I found out that if you only use a single wire and connect that to the LF connectors of the Dentons, the treble becomes more civilized. Wharfedale recommends a cross connection (black into LF and red into HF) but then the treble tends to overwhelm.
I'm trying to follow what you said. What do you mean "single wire to the LF". Is that in bi-wiring or are you referring to the jumper cables. Where does the red + and black -go?
@@jc6993 Yes, leave the brass plates in place or use jumper cables. 1) Normal single wire: red goes into 'LF+', black goes into 'LF-'. 2) Single wire 'cross' connection: black goes into 'LF-', red goes into 'HF+'. I see that you have put together the three systems that I am trying to decide between - Rotel A11 Tribute, AudioLab 6000A and Marantz PM6007 together with their matching CD players (in this particular order of preference without being able to hear them in real life). I suppose that you have an personal preference after testing them side by side. Could you please share with us your opinion and why would you chose one after the other? A lot of it will come down to the speakers you are pairing with them in the end. Personally, I prefer the Audiolab combo, in my experience its the easiest to pair with speakers and it has the best balance between ease and engagement. The Tribute pack is a fantastic budget system that sounds very energetic and exciting, the Marantz is the most laid back in its presentation. I don't think one system is better than the either in most regards, they are all offering very different musical presentations though tonally.

@@TheSilentWatcher I understand the concern now. The Marantz is easy the warmest of the 3 BUT not being an Elac dealer they aren't a brand I have had the opportunity to try with any of these amps so I honestly have no idea how they would synergize.
To my ears the Marantz is the more energetic amp, tried both and I find the Rotel more laid back with a smaller soundstage, tried on diferent pairs of speakers.

@@Nath-rg2qd Found a good deal so went for the Audiolab, they told me it's made in the same factory so components should be 'more' compatible even though main reason was the streamer between these two. I do not consider myself audiophile and I think I wouldn't hear the difference here this just seemed like more practical and sustainable solution. I just bought an A11 Tribute amp after hearing it in an audio store and being wowed by the sound it produced when paired with the speakers I am planning to get (but haven't bought yet) - B&W 607 S2 for inside zone and B&W AM1 for outside zone. While I'm waiting to get the new speakers, I tried pairing the A11 at home with some vintage B&W DM110s that I have but was disappointed that the sound was a bit flat and lacked dynamics and in fact I preferred the sound from my vintage 1st gen Arcam Alpha amp paired with these old speakers. I know these old speakers are not going to be anywhere near as good as the new ones I'm getting but I was hoping the A11 might be able to bring them to life. Is it just that old speaker technology goes better with old amp technology and I'm still going to be really impressed with the A11 once I get my new speakers?
That's system synergy in action, I can't speak for the components of the older B&W speakers but I imagine they would interact quite differently to more modern models.

Just compared driving my Dynaudio Emit10s with Rotel a11 Tribute and Hegel H190. Hegel H190 made jazz sound like it came from 10K speakers. Unbelievable. Pop and rock sounded anemic on Hegel. No midrange bass. That little Rotel absolutely killed it, when playing pop and rock. So, tried the gigantic Rotel 1592. That little tribute slayed it once more. So long expensive amps. Bye.
Hib, great interesting video, I recently bought 606s2 anniversary paired with A11 tribune , although they sound petty good l am sorry to say that my B&w 602 s3 has better sounding bass then 606, I only got these as reduced the price from £599 to £349. That’s why I bought them , however was looking at monitor audio silver 100 7g, also was looking focal chorale 806. As you know that A11 has 2 speakers output so I listen to 602 and then 606 .regards mark
Hey. I 've been in this hobby for a couple of years only, so some help would be welcome. I like the idea of having seperates. At the moment am using Rotel A11 tribute. I like the sound, but 1 would like to upgrade to something more powerful and possibly midrange focused. am looking for an integrated without a dac, but couldn't find it. At the moment 1 am using MA Gold 100 5g, Topping E50 dac, but 1 will change the dac also to something like Denafrips Ares 2, or Gesheli J2S. Any help would be apreciated. P.s. Apologies if my writing isn't so good, english is not my first language.

For 800.00 this amplifier sounds like a winner. No pun intended. I have a Rotel separate power and preamplifier from 1994. I wonder what PSB speakers would sound like with this amp. And Polk audio

I have a pair of psb xt1 tower speakers. They sound good hooked up to my old Rotel seperrates. They actually sound similar to the Bowers and Wilkins. Except the Bowers and Wilkins are slightly better in the treble. I've been hearing about these french speakers called triangle. Would like to hear them someday. No high end dealerships in Tucson anymore. Except best buy. That carries elac.
I like punch as well, that doesn’t stay around too long. What else have you reviewed that’s had this like the BW? I used to have the 685 S2 and was sort of bored with those. At higher volumes they did have some decent punch. I have the Q Acoustics 3030i right now and it’s bass is boomier. I want a quicker punch. My Sonos ones in a different room do a great job of this actually. What other affordable or semi affordable hifi speakers you’ve reviewed have nice bass punch besides BW? Thanks!
If you are looking for punchy bass I don't think you can go past Monitor Audio's Bronze and Silver series, especially 200 series floorstanders which are very fast due to their smaller drivers.
Hey 👋 I've just got the rotel tribute cd player and amplifier. I have eltax symphony 6.2 floorstanders which I've owned for years they are 4 to 8 ommes. 150 watts. sinus power 80 watts frequency response 35-22-000 will.they be suitable to use or should I change to different speaker's more suitable thanks Callum .don't want to damage anything and want best o can get out the system .any advice would be much appreciated Callum
The Hifi news review found them to have 75w into 8ohm and 105w into 4ohms. So not the doubling you would hope with hard to drive speakers but more power than quoted
Purchased the a11 bronze 100 package from you. Whenever i turn the smp on or off the speakers make a really loud pop noise. They also pop every time i turn the volume up or down. Help.
A few weeks ago I sold my Yamaha A-S2100 and B&W 603 combo, was trying to free up some money to try something new and more budget friendly. I purchased a Cambridge AXR100 and was going to just run them with my Jamo S809 towers that were on my surround system, as good as the 809 are at their price point they just were not cutting it after I had the 603 in my front room. My new speaker choice to pair with the Cambridge was either going to be the new KLH Model 5 or the Linton's with the factory stands, I chose the Wharfedale after reading and watching extensive reviews. What attracted me towards the Linton's was with what I understood about the model is they were not very finicky about the electronics that drive them, being I only had a $500 Cambridge that might be an excellent attribute to have. I have to admit there was anxiety if I had enough power to get the sound I was looking for, well two minutes after hooking the speakers up to the receiver that anxiety quickly disappeared. It's a very good pairing that exceeded my expectations and for half the price as my old system could not be anymore pleased. Before I selected the Cambridge the Rotel Tribute was in serious contention, I probably did leave some performance advantage on the table but fully appreciate the Cambridge sound signature and feature set.
Honestly, I dont know what the limitations of the Lintons are, I have a little 25w micro amp im going to try pairing them up with on the weekend just for curiousitys sake but at this point I think I can consider the Lintons to be a miracle speaker. Its great to hear you have been enjoying them with your Cambridge!
Hi I know this is not subject...But I'm little bit confused. I'm buying my first hi fi setup. Simple 2.0. I decided to buy new Rotel A11 mk2 AB amplifier 50w at 8ohms and 62w at 4ohms. Speakers Dynaudio Emit 10 and its writen in the specs 6ohms speaker IEC power handling 150w. I will put this relativly small bookshelf speakers in my bedroom with 16 square meters and I will listen from distance of 2.5meters. I will listen on moderate to low volumes, rock and metal I will cranck litle bit stronger but thats it. Is this amp enough for my speakers. I see on youtube reviewers put this rotel with much larger speakers and they said that is great sound. My seller told me that I need much more wats for this speaker to sound properly even 100w even with small volumes to give some juice to speaker. Now I'm totaly confused. If you can help me I was so happy to purchace this setup..now...thanks in advance
The A11 and Emit 10 are not a combination any of us have personally heard together, with Hi-Fi the numbers aren't as important as sitting down and hearing the components of your choice together to see how nicely they play together. Numbers are a great starting point to get you looking in that right direction, but in the end system synergy comes into play in many different ways.
Thats a good question, we haven't actually had the chance to pair it up with the previous Rotel A14 and we no longer have access to that Rotel unit. We can test them with the new A14 MKII however, maybe we will revisit speaker pairings for that amp at a later date.
Hey Daniel; nice review. i just bought a pair of Dali Oberon 5 speakers, connected with a vintage,fully recapped/restored Sansui AU-505(1978!) and it sounds amazing; clear and warm. Looking for something new(bluetooth,remote control ect), i think of the Iotavx SA-PA-3 combo,or Emotiva(TA-100 and..?.) combo. Or this Rotel,or Rega Brio,Audiolab... so many choices. Not more than about €1000,- Okay depends on somebody's taste and the room where the audio is located. Music style; jazz/rock/fusion,blues,rock,reggae,soul,funk,grunge,South American.
That's a bit list of products you have listed there! If you are looking at pairing the new amp with the Dali as well (bi-wiring I assume?) I feel like the Audiolab is the safest bet. I can't speak for the other brands but I have never had synergy issues with the 6000A.

@@louisdefunes8952 A good recording will always sound better on an average system than a bad recording will sound on a high end one, recording is everything!
We would have to find some time to dedicate to pairing them up but based on our experiences with the NR1200 can sound a little muddy at times (when it comes to music playback at least). Some speakers like the Dentons mask this well but I have a feeling the 607's might enhance that muddiness (though there's also a chance they might clear it up as well). Impossible to say without testing but it might be a while before we have the chance to test this specific combination.

@@mshiladitya86 Honestly not the biggest fan of B&W on Marantz (although the 700 series does sound superb with Model 30 which we have a video coming out about soon). I wouldn't say they sound bright but in our listening tests the clarity you would expect from B&W doesn't come through in a way that you would buy the brand for. We much prefer pairing them up with the likes of Hegel. Marantz pairs better with the likes of Monitor Audio Bronze/Silver and Wharfedales Diamond/Evo range to our ears.

Absolutely, sonically the two amplifiers perform VERY similarly, the Lintons really do have a sort of house sound that amplifiers dont seem to have much of an effect on, however, the Audiolab 6000a has a wider and more detailed sound stage/imaging when paired with the Lintons, atleast when using a digital source.
@@ing.enuity3392 The Marantz 6007 sounds alright on the Lintons tonally but you dont get the level of detail/clarity/seperation from that pairing that you get with the Audiolab or the A11 Tribute.
Would B&W 603 S2 AE go along with this Rotel A11 tribute?? Would the amp have enough power to brings out, especially the bass of a floor standing? Or otherwise, what would you recommend to go along with the B&W 603 S2???
We would have to find the time to test and really find out, based on our experience with the A14 MKII though we didn't find that the 603 S2 Floorstanders had much more bass than the 606 S2 when it comes to pairings with new Rotels. We don't think it's so much to do with power as it is with system synergy.

What do you think about the performances different between Linton and evo 4.4, pairing with the amp Audiolab 6000A in particular??? Mainly for classical music, (orchestral, chamber, strings, choir, Opera), movie soundtracka alongside some Jazz/ Audiophile Vocal
@@lucianohighC We love the Lintons with the Audiolab 6000A, though the Evo 4.4 prefer more power and we would recommend the Audiolab 8300 series for them. The Evo 4.24.3 pair up much nicer with the 6000A with a much more spacious sound than the Lintons which sound more robust and full.
Nice review, but I'm missing the descriptions of how it sounds with different music they were tested with. If I listen to Metallica and Cradle Of Filth, are the Lintons still lush and smooth? Maybe the electric guitars sounds like mush, buried in a V-shaped EQ-character. Is the speakers/amp a good paring to metal, pop, techno, or 70's disco? And which songs did you listen to, anything I can use as a reference would be nice, an album, song or artist that I know or at least have heard previously. I don't listen to hardware, I listen to music :)
But yet your statements make it seem like you really do listen to hardware. You can listen to music on just about anything, and when you really enjoy it, it doesn't matter if it's on a less than ideal audio system :)
@@RennieAsh Agreed. It's the hardware producing the music and how it sounds, so it can't be overlooked of course. Just about this time last year I listened to a few speakers at a HiFi dealer, playing the music I listen to. There were a couple of speakers more tailored to home cinema and it wasn't really to my taste and the music I listen to. I ended up buying a couple of JBL 3600 floorstanders after having listened to the bookshelf variant. The bookshelf speakers were made for my type of music I can tell ya. So I said "If I want more of that, will the floorstanders deliver?" They sure did! Never looking back now... 😀

Do you think the amplifier will work decently with this speakers? frequency response: 32-23,000 Hz (±3dB) sensitivity: 91 dB. impedance: 6 ohms. recommended power: 20-200 watts. Nice review, Thanks I am pretty sure that I would like to have the Wharfedale Linton... and would like to know what do you think about the sounds different or specifications between pairing them with Audiolab 6000, Leak and Rotel 11 tribute (CD + AMP) Which system you would prefer and why? Which setting would be more suitable for Classical, Jazz and which one more for Rock, R&B, folk/ country or which one is most all rounded?? And the balance between analytical detail sounds VS warm, rich, smooth flavor...etc??
Yea... I think those 3 would be main choice, unless other combinations that you've tried and given a good twist that you wanna mention/ recommend... (Marantz 6006/ 6007, Cambridge Audio AXR100, Yamaha, Denon...etc??)
The Wharfedale Lintons sound largely the same on most amplifiers to our ears, the biggest differences come in soundstage detail and bass control, and in that regard I put the Audiolab 6000A in the lead. The Leak Stereo 130 has a very similar wide soundstage to the Audiolab but the bass isnt quite as punchy, though it perhaps a little more body. The Rotel A11 doesnt have the Soundstage of the Leak or Audiolab but it does have a punchier bass than the Leak. These differences are very subtle however and I think you would need to spend a fair amount of time with all of these combinations to be able to pick them. Honestly when pairing these specific 3 amplifiers together with the Lintons you can probably just pick the amplifier you like the look of most and you will be gold. When it comes to Marantz with the Lintons I find that the sound can be perhaps a little dull as your feeding a warmer sounding signal from the Marantz into a warm speaker. We do not have access to Cambridge, Yamaha or Denon so unfortunately we cant make an informed decision here. We will however be trying the new Roksan Attessa range with the speakers when they release in September, pricepoint wise this system are very close to parity with the Audiolab.

Or how do you think about the Audiolab 6000 CD slipping in design, in terms of "demaging" CD and user friendly...etc???
@@lucianohighC The Rotel CD11 Tribute is a great little CD Player. You can use it as a transport like the 6000CDT or you can use the RCA outputs with the built in DAC which will give you a different sound as the Rotel has its own personality. Either system will give you a great experience.
Im probably a little late for comment , but i own the 85 Dentons and do find them stingy, ARCAM A39,,,a handy upgrade is to Single wire them (No Bi Wire) and take + link out and fit a 1ohm resistor in place of the link,,,Smoother treble and a all round Fatter sound,,,,costs about 50c and is noticeable improvement 😂
@@yippie6862 The two offer a very similar audio experiences, aesthetically however I think the Leak looks nicer with the Dentons. BUT in terms of sound the Leak and the Audiolab are so close that for most people they could be interchangeable, in this set up atleast.
Hola, tuve el Audiolab 6000a + MA silver 100 7G y suena excelente la combinación. Bajos profundos y controlados y altos detallados. Lo unico q no me gustó es q al 6000a se queda corto en potencia. Tengo q subir mucho el volumen para disfrutar a un volumen bueno y mi sala es mediana.
We haven't tested those speakers specifically but based on our experiences with other speakers in the Monitor Audio range we think they would sound pretty great!

Main reason is, Musiccast sucks... and I miss gapless playback and using just Tidal app instead... Monitor 200's sound great for what they are (specially at 630 special I got them for). DAMN rabbit holes...

@@seenechetty3669 You have given yourself a fanastic starting point! The SVS Micro 3000 is a fantastic little subwoofer for your sort of set up and in terms of Turntables the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon is a good match for your system as well.

@@seenechetty3669 Only on amplifiers with an LFE output. Set up correctly it will pull out any presence that was missing from the original speaker pairing.
We haven't tried the Dentons on the PM8006 but we have enjoyed them on the PM6006 so the extra power of the PM8006 should only improve their performance.

Wharfedale Linton = in Germany I`ve seen them for 1,100 EUROS = 1,130 USD as a pair + stands as a regular offer, elsewhere in the "EURO" area I see this combo for up to max 1,400 EUROS = 1,438 USD ( all in mid 2022) more than words can say = "Wharfedale Linton Heritage HiFi Speakers Sound Demo REVIEW Video £10k Sound for £999" by "Pursuit Perfect System"
It's the presentation of the sound coming out of the speakers. An image is considered good if the performers' location or acoustic material can be clearly located in space. If you were to close your eyes, how realistic does the stage that the instruments are performing on look to you? Do you get the sense that the singer is in the centre at the front, and the bass guitar is to the left? Is it 3D? Or does it all sound flat. Like a 2D image?
Can I just double check which b&w speaker you are referring to? 607 ‘s are mentioned but the video links say 606. As they look identical to me I can’t tell for sure. Can you please confirm? I have listened to the 606 s2’s with a few different amps and I like them. Marantz 6006 and NAD 328 we’re both good. Can you give any comparisons? My only concern is treble harshness which I experienced with the marantz 5005 and that was a bad mix.
Apologies, in the video we used the 606 S2, I misspoke, though we have also tested these with the 607 S2 since filming and found the results to be largely identical (the 607 S2 being smaller were a little lighter on bass due to the smaller driver and cabinet). I definitely wouldn't describe them as harsh, just a little forward in the treble department. The sound with the Tribute isn't all that far off from that with the Marantz 6006, but give them a listen if you can!
Lintons have uncanny ability to make things sound better and with dignity. I tested Lintons with Rotel A14, which is nearly 2x as powerful as A11 Tribute, and A14 lacked juice in some tracks and types of music, and the stage could still be improved upon. I wouldn't drive Lintons with anything less than 2 x 120W or 2 x 150W.
Yes we have, assuming you mean the RA1572 MKII! Tonally they are nice together but the combination didn't have the bass authority we are used to from the Lintons when paired with other amps of similar power.
@@living_entertainment very interesting comment. I did critical listening A/B tests with Yamaha As-1200, Technics SU-G700 mk2, Marantz 30n and I chose the Rotel 1572 mk2 for bass authority. It had more attack, deep bass and excitment and the snare drums came alive way more than any other amp tested.
When you do these test are you streaming wireless via bluetooth? When I stream via bluetooth It never reads past 44khz. How can I stream up to the advertised 192khz? Thanks!
Not an audiophile playing stuff on UA-cam in echo rooms but I have the rotel a11 tribute paired with a pair of mission qx2 mk2..the warmest sounding musically detailed pairing I've heard to date..I come from the dj era of the 90s..we like warm punch with energetic detail but not overly bright...I'll do a test of that one day and blow these speakers away clean... And why do these so called audiophile dudes spending grands set up systems in echo Chambers with no soft furnishings to soften the ever impending brightness echo..I can't work it out..why demo in a sterile environment with no dampening..go into any studio and its dampened..these UA-cam guys have no clue of true sound demonstration,period!!!!!
Sound demos on youtube are pretty useless, between the recording space, the mic, the A/D conversion, the EQ in editing, the videos codec and compression, UA-cams FURTHER compression, and then the viewers DAC and Speakers/Headphones there's next to no useful information left. We try to explain our experiences, and while that's not as instantly gratifying as a "sound demo" for more people we think it's a much more useful tool.
B&W is a very divisive speaker brand and for good reason, their characteristics are very specific and aren't for everyone, or for every genre of music for that matter. We believe what they do they do well, and that's why they have the cult following they do.
the problem of this amp is the wattage, you can't pilot speakers well. I mean, you can pilot ELac Debut reference b6.2, sure, but you'll have NEVER the best of sound they can offer you. You can't pair two known audio tools just for the hype, you need to pair them with rationality
Will never buy bowers again i live in Worthing one of their factories here , had 601 for years but now their speakers are no longer so good Wharfedale all the way.

I’m using the Rotel a11 with a pair of Wharfdale Denton’s 85th A. and am deeply impressed with the audio quality. Superb soundstage and realistic sound delivery. I’m using Tone bypass and haven’t noticed any overt treble. They are very new and I believe that bass becomes more pronounced as the speakers get some ‘exercise’.

Hope you do the same with a couple of floorstanders and this amp. I like standmounters, but you have to keep in mind that you have to pay for the stands the mount them on. Sometimes floorstanders make more sense in terms of bang for your bucks.

I am just breaking in my new A11 Tribute and B&W 607s (not l606s), which I chose because I got them for a SCREAMING deal! Not broken in yet, but I'm very pleased. I hope too upgrade speakers one day, but from what I'm hearing now, I'm not in as much of a hurry as I thought I'd be.

Love my lintons, nice warm bath after a long day at work type sound.
We find a lot of audio professionals gravitating towards the Lintons and other speakers with a mid-range bump for pleasure listening in order to get away from the detailed sound of audio engineering and mixing.

These videos are a number of years old now and unfortunately we are no longer in the position to do a side by side comparison. Your best bet would be to test them at your nearest dealer.
You are absolutely right about the Denton 85th. Being familiar with the Lintons, I too was very surprised when I first got the Dentons. I did not expect them to have this forward treble. However, the Dentons have a bi-wiring option. How did you connect them? I found out that if you only use a single wire and connect that to the LF connectors of the Dentons, the treble becomes more civilized. Wharfedale recommends a cross connection (black into LF and red into HF) but then the treble tends to overwhelm.
I have the Denton 80th, seems Wharfedale went brighter with the 85th.
I'm trying to follow what you said. What do you mean "single wire to the LF". Is that in bi-wiring or are you referring to the jumper cables. Where does the red + and black -go?
@@jc6993 Yes, leave the brass plates in place or use jumper cables. 1) Normal single wire: red goes into 'LF+', black goes into 'LF-'. 2) Single wire 'cross' connection: black goes into 'LF-', red goes into 'HF+'. I see that you have put together the three systems that I am trying to decide between - Rotel A11 Tribute, AudioLab 6000A and Marantz PM6007 together with their matching CD players (in this particular order of preference without being able to hear them in real life). I suppose that you have an personal preference after testing them side by side. Could you please share with us your opinion and why would you chose one after the other? A lot of it will come down to the speakers you are pairing with them in the end. Personally, I prefer the Audiolab combo, in my experience its the easiest to pair with speakers and it has the best balance between ease and engagement. The Tribute pack is a fantastic budget system that sounds very energetic and exciting, the Marantz is the most laid back in its presentation. I don't think one system is better than the either in most regards, they are all offering very different musical presentations though tonally.

To my ears the Marantz is the more energetic amp, tried both and I find the Rotel more laid back with a smaller soundstage, tried on diferent pairs of speakers.

@@Nath-rg2qd Found a good deal so went for the Audiolab, they told me it's made in the same factory so components should be 'more' compatible even though main reason was the streamer between these two. I do not consider myself audiophile and I think I wouldn't hear the difference here this just seemed like more practical and sustainable solution. I just bought an A11 Tribute amp after hearing it in an audio store and being wowed by the sound it produced when paired with the speakers I am planning to get (but haven't bought yet) - B&W 607 S2 for inside zone and B&W AM1 for outside zone. While I'm waiting to get the new speakers, I tried pairing the A11 at home with some vintage B&W DM110s that I have but was disappointed that the sound was a bit flat and lacked dynamics and in fact I preferred the sound from my vintage 1st gen Arcam Alpha amp paired with these old speakers. I know these old speakers are not going to be anywhere near as good as the new ones I'm getting but I was hoping the A11 might be able to bring them to life. Is it just that old speaker technology goes better with old amp technology and I'm still going to be really impressed with the A11 once I get my new speakers?
That's system synergy in action, I can't speak for the components of the older B&W speakers but I imagine they would interact quite differently to more modern models.

Just compared driving my Dynaudio Emit10s with Rotel a11 Tribute and Hegel H190. Hegel H190 made jazz sound like it came from 10K speakers. Unbelievable. Pop and rock sounded anemic on Hegel. No midrange bass. That little Rotel absolutely killed it, when playing pop and rock. So, tried the gigantic Rotel 1592. That little tribute slayed it once more. So long expensive amps. Bye.
Hib, great interesting video, I recently bought 606s2 anniversary paired with A11 tribune , although they sound petty good l am sorry to say that my B&w 602 s3 has better sounding bass then 606, I only got these as reduced the price from £599 to £349. That’s why I bought them , however was looking at monitor audio silver 100 7g, also was looking focal chorale 806. As you know that A11 has 2 speakers output so I listen to 602 and then 606 .regards mark

Hey. I 've been in this hobby for a couple of years only, so some help would be welcome. I like the idea of having seperates. At the moment am using Rotel A11 tribute. I like the sound, but 1 would like to upgrade to something more powerful and possibly midrange focused. am looking for an integrated without a dac, but couldn't find it. At the moment 1 am using MA Gold 100 5g, Topping E50 dac, but 1 will change the dac also to something like Denafrips Ares 2, or Gesheli J2S. Any help would be apreciated. P.s. I have a pair of psb xt1 tower speakers. They sound good hooked up to my old Rotel seperrates. They actually sound similar to the Bowers and Wilkins. Except the Bowers and Wilkins are slightly better in the treble. I've been hearing about these french speakers called triangle. Would like to hear them someday. No high end dealerships in Tucson anymore. Except best buy. That carries elac.

I like punch as well, that doesn’t stay around too long. What else have you reviewed that’s had this like the BW? I used to have the 685 S2 and was sort of bored with those. At higher volumes they did have some decent punch. I have the Q Acoustics 3030i right now and it’s bass is boomier. I want a quicker punch. My Sonos ones in a different room do a great job of this actually. What other affordable or semi affordable hifi speakers you’ve reviewed have nice bass punch besides BW? Thanks!
If you are looking for punchy bass I don't think you can go past Monitor Audio's Bronze and Silver series, especially 200 series floorstanders which are very fast due to their smaller drivers.

I have eltax symphony 6.2 floorstanders which I've owned for years they are 4 to 8 ommes. 150 watts. sinus power 80 watts frequency response 35-22-000 will.they be suitable to use or should I change to different speaker's more suitable thanks Callum .don't want to damage anything and want best o can get out the system .any advice would be much appreciated Callum
Hard to know for sure, throw them on and see how they sound! I don't think you have to worry about blowing them.
Does that amp have enough Current to drive The B&W and Monitor Audio's? The specs seem to indicate the amp could be a little lacking in power.
The Hifi news review found them to have 75w into 8ohm and 105w into 4ohms. So not the doubling you would hope with hard to drive speakers but more power than quoted

Purchased the a11 bronze 100 package from you. Whenever i turn the smp on or off the speakers make a really loud pop noise. They also pop every time i turn the volume up or down. Help.

A few weeks ago I sold my Yamaha A-S2100 and B&W 603 combo, was trying to free up some money to try something new and more budget friendly. I purchased a Cambridge AXR100 and was going to just run them with my Jamo S809 towers that were on my surround system, as good as the 809 are at their price point they just were not cutting it after I had the 603 in my front room. My new speaker choice to pair with the Cambridge was either going to be the new KLH Model 5 or the Linton's with the factory stands, I chose the Wharfedale after reading and watching extensive reviews. What attracted me towards the Linton's was with what I understood about the model is they were not very finicky about the electronics that drive them, being I only had a $500 Cambridge that might be an excellent attribute to have. I have to admit there was anxiety if I had enough power to get the sound I was looking for, well two minutes after hooking the speakers up to the receiver that anxiety quickly disappeared. It's a very good pairing that exceeded my expectations and for half the price as my old system could not be anymore pleased. Before I selected the Cambridge the Rotel Tribute was in serious contention, I probably did leave some performance advantage on the table but fully appreciate the Cambridge sound signature and feature set.
Honestly, I dont know what the limitations of the Lintons are, I have a little 25w micro amp im going to try pairing them up with on the weekend just for curiousitys sake but at this point I think I can consider the Lintons to be a miracle speaker. Its great to hear you have been enjoying them with your Cambridge!
Laid back sound or neutral or slightly forward sound?
Hi I know this is not subject...But I'm little bit confused. I'm buying my first hi fi setup. Simple 2.0. I decided to buy new Rotel A11 mk2 AB amplifier 50w at 8ohms and 62w at 4ohms. Speakers Dynaudio Emit 10 and its writen in the specs 6ohms speaker IEC power handling 150w. I will put this relativly small bookshelf speakers in my bedroom with 16 square meters and I will listen from distance of 2.5meters. I will listen on moderate to low volumes, rock and metal I will cranck litle bit stronger but thats it. Is this amp enough for my speakers. I see on youtube reviewers put this rotel with much larger speakers and they said that is great sound. My seller told me that I need much more wats for this speaker to sound properly even 100w even with small volumes to give some juice to speaker. Now I'm totaly confused. If you can help me I was so happy to purchace this setup..now...thanks in advance
The A11 and Emit 10 are not a combination any of us have personally heard together, with Hi-Fi the numbers aren't as important as sitting down and hearing the components of your choice together to see how nicely they play together. Numbers are a great starting point to get you looking in that right direction, but in the end system synergy comes into play in many different ways.
Whats your opinion about pairing Linton with Rotel A14
Thats a good question, we haven't actually had the chance to pair it up with the previous Rotel A14 and we no longer have access to that Rotel unit. We can test them with the new A14 MKII however, maybe we will revisit speaker pairings for that amp at a later date.

Or this Rotel,or Rega Brio,Audiolab... so many choices. Not more than about €1000,-

That's a bit list of products you have listed there! If you are looking at pairing the new amp with the Dali as well (bi-wiring I assume?) I feel like the Audiolab is the safest bet. I can't speak for the other brands but I have never had synergy issues with the 6000A.

We would have to find some time to dedicate to pairing them up but based on our experiences with the NR1200 can sound a little muddy at times (when it comes to music playback at least). Some speakers like the Dentons mask this well but I have a feeling the 607's might enhance that muddiness (though there's also a chance they might clear it up as well). Impossible to say without testing but it might be a while before we have the chance to test this specific combination.

@@mshiladitya86 Honestly not the biggest fan of B&W on Marantz (although the 700 series does sound superb with Model 30 which we have a video coming out about soon). I wouldn't say they sound bright but in our listening tests the clarity you would expect from B&W doesn't come through in a way that you would buy the brand for. We much prefer pairing them up with the likes of Hegel. Marantz pairs better with the likes of Monitor Audio Bronze/Silver and Wharfedales Diamond/Evo range to our ears.

Absolutely, sonically the two amplifiers perform VERY similarly, the Lintons really do have a sort of house sound that amplifiers dont seem to have much of an effect on, however, the Audiolab 6000a has a wider and more detailed sound stage/imaging when paired with the Lintons, atleast when using a digital source.

We would have to find the time to test and really find out, based on our experience with the A14 MKII though we didn't find that the 603 S2 Floorstanders had much more bass than the 606 S2 when it comes to pairings with new Rotels. We don't think it's so much to do with power as it is with system synergy.

@@lucianohighC We love the Lintons with the Audiolab 6000A, though the Evo 4.4 prefer more power and we would recommend the Audiolab 8300 series for them. The Evo 4.24.3 pair up much nicer with the 6000A with a much more spacious sound than the Lintons which sound more robust and full.

Nice review, but I'm missing the descriptions of how it sounds with different music they were tested with. If I listen to Metallica and Cradle Of Filth, are the Lintons still lush and smooth? Maybe the electric guitars sounds like mush, buried in a V-shaped EQ-character. Is the speakers/amp a good paring to metal, pop, techno, or 70's disco? And which songs did you listen to, anything I can use as a reference would be nice, an album, song or artist that I know or at least have heard previously. I don't listen to hardware, I listen to music :)
But yet your statements make it seem like you really do listen to hardware. You can listen to music on just about anything, and when you really enjoy it, it doesn't matter if it's on a less than ideal audio system :)

Just about this time last year I listened to a few speakers at a HiFi dealer, playing the music I listen to. There were a couple of speakers more tailored to home cinema and it wasn't really to my taste and the music I listen to. I ended up buying a couple of JBL 3600 floorstanders after having listened to the bookshelf variant. The bookshelf speakers were made for my type of music I can tell ya. So I said "If I want more of that, will the floorstanders deliver?" They sure did! Never looking back now... 😀

I've heard the Rotel A11, does not have enough power sometimes, I have a tower speakers, PSB Image T6. Do you think the amplifier will work decently with this speakers?

Which system you would prefer and why?

The Wharfedale Lintons sound largely the same on most amplifiers to our ears, the biggest differences come in soundstage detail and bass control, and in that regard I put the Audiolab 6000A in the lead. The Leak Stereo 130 has a very similar wide soundstage to the Audiolab but the bass isnt quite as punchy, though it perhaps a little more body. The Rotel A11 doesnt have the Soundstage of the Leak or Audiolab but it does have a punchier bass than the Leak. These differences are very subtle however and I think you would need to spend a fair amount of time with all of these combinations to be able to pick them. Honestly when pairing these specific 3 amplifiers together with the Lintons you can probably just pick the amplifier you like the look of most and you will be gold.
When it comes to Marantz with the Lintons I find that the sound can be perhaps a little dull as your feeding a warmer sounding signal from the Marantz into a warm speaker. We do not have access to Cambridge, Yamaha or Denon so unfortunately we cant make an informed decision here. We will however be trying the new Roksan Attessa range with the speakers when they release in September, pricepoint wise this system are very close to parity with the Audiolab.

@@lucianohighC The Rotel CD11 Tribute is a great little CD Player. You can use it as a transport like the 6000CDT or you can use the RCA outputs with the built in DAC which will give you a different sound as the Rotel has its own personality. Either system will give you a great experience.
Im probably a little late for comment , but i own the 85 Dentons and do find them stingy, ARCAM A39,,,a handy upgrade is to Single wire them (No Bi Wire) and take + link out and fit a 1ohm resistor in place of the link,,,Smoother treble and a all round Fatter sound,,,,costs about 50c and is noticeable improvement 😂
What is your favorite amp to use with the Denton's?
At the moment its the Audiolab 6000A/6000A Play. :)

@@yippie6862 The two offer a very similar audio experiences, aesthetically however I think the Leak looks nicer with the Dentons. BUT in terms of sound the Leak and the Audiolab are so close that for most people they could be interchangeable, in this set up atleast.

How does it pair with B&w 706 s2? Will it give you the same dynamic and punchy bass like 606 s2? Any other amplifier do you recommend for 706 s2?
The 706S2 works okay with the A11 Tribute but you get far better performance from the Rotel A14 MKII.

Hola, tuve el Audiolab 6000a + MA silver 100 7G y suena excelente la combinación. Bajos profundos y controlados y altos detallados. Lo unico q no me gustó es q al 6000a se queda corto en potencia. Tengo q subir mucho el volumen para disfrutar a un volumen bueno y mi sala es mediana.

We haven't tested those speakers specifically but based on our experiences with other speakers in the Monitor Audio range we think they would sound pretty great!

Main reason is, Musiccast sucks... and I miss gapless playback and using just Tidal app instead... Monitor 200's sound great for what they are (specially at 630 special I got them for).

@@seenechetty3669 You have given yourself a fanastic starting point! The SVS Micro 3000 is a fantastic little subwoofer for your sort of set up and in terms of Turntables the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon is a good match for your system as well.

@@seenechetty3669 Only on amplifiers with an LFE output. Set up correctly it will pull out any presence that was missing from the original speaker pairing.
Would denton + PM8006 a good match?
We haven't tried the Dentons on the PM8006 but we have enjoyed them on the PM6006 so the extra power of the PM8006 should only improve their performance.
The wharfedale dentons 80th anniversary had more soft treble/less fatiguing than the 85th.
That's interesting, we have never had the opportunity to hear the 80th anniversary model.

Wharfedale Linton = in Germany I`ve seen them for 1,100 EUROS = 1,130 USD as a pair + stands as a regular offer, elsewhere in the "EURO" area I see this combo for up to max 1,400 EUROS = 1,438 USD ( all in mid 2022)

Can someone explain what imaging means?
It's the presentation of the sound coming out of the speakers. An image is considered good if the performers' location or acoustic material can be clearly located in space. If you were to close your eyes, how realistic does the stage that the instruments are performing on look to you?
Do you get the sense that the singer is in the centre at the front, and the bass guitar is to the left? Is it 3D? Or does it all sound flat. Like a 2D image?

Can I just double check which b&w speaker you are referring to? 607 ‘s are mentioned but the video links say 606. As they look identical to me I can’t tell for sure. Can you please confirm?
I have listened to the 606 s2’s with a few different amps and I like them. Marantz 6006 and NAD 328 we’re both good. Can you give any comparisons? My only concern is treble harshness which I experienced with the marantz 5005 and that was a bad mix.
Apologies, in the video we used the 606 S2, I misspoke, though we have also tested these with the 607 S2 since filming and found the results to be largely identical (the 607 S2 being smaller were a little lighter on bass due to the smaller driver and cabinet). I definitely wouldn't describe them as harsh, just a little forward in the treble department. The sound with the Tribute isn't all that far off from that with the Marantz 6006, but give them a listen if you can!

Lintons have uncanny ability to make things sound better and with dignity.
I tested Lintons with Rotel A14, which is nearly 2x as powerful as A11 Tribute, and A14 lacked juice in some tracks and types of music, and the stage could still be improved upon. I wouldn't drive Lintons with anything less than 2 x 120W or 2 x 150W.
Have you had a chance to match Rotel RA1572 with Linton? Do you think they also match well?
Yes we have, assuming you mean the RA1572 MKII! Tonally they are nice together but the combination didn't have the bass authority we are used to from the Lintons when paired with other amps of similar power.
@@living_entertainment very interesting comment. I did critical listening A/B tests with Yamaha As-1200, Technics SU-G700 mk2, Marantz 30n and I chose the Rotel 1572 mk2 for bass authority. It had more attack, deep bass and excitment and the snare drums came alive way more than any other amp tested.

When you do these test are you streaming wireless via bluetooth? When I stream via bluetooth It never reads past 44khz. How can I stream up to the advertised 192khz? Thanks!
Not an audiophile playing stuff on UA-cam in echo rooms but I have the rotel a11 tribute paired with a pair of mission qx2 mk2..the warmest sounding musically detailed pairing I've heard to date..I come from the dj era of the 90s..we like warm punch with energetic detail but not overly bright...I'll do a test of that one day and blow these speakers away clean...
And why do these so called audiophile dudes spending grands set up systems in echo Chambers with no soft furnishings to soften the ever impending brightness echo..I can't work it out..why demo in a sterile environment with no dampening..go into any studio and its dampened..these UA-cam guys have no clue of true sound demonstration,period!!!!!
Sound demos on youtube are pretty useless, between the recording space, the mic, the A/D conversion, the EQ in editing, the videos codec and compression, UA-cams FURTHER compression, and then the viewers DAC and Speakers/Headphones there's next to no useful information left.
We try to explain our experiences, and while that's not as instantly gratifying as a "sound demo" for more people we think it's a much more useful tool.
Any time someone says a pair of B&W speakers sounds good, I instantly can't trust them.. I've never heard a good sounding pair of B&W speakers.
B&W is a very divisive speaker brand and for good reason, their characteristics are very specific and aren't for everyone, or for every genre of music for that matter. We believe what they do they do well, and that's why they have the cult following they do.
You've obviously not heard a 51 yr old pair of B+W DM70 electrostatic speakers.....

Because I wasn't a fan of the sound on the Dentons on the Rotel, the Dentons and Lintons tend to have very similar characteristics generally speaking.
the problem of this amp is the wattage, you can't pilot speakers well. I mean, you can pilot ELac Debut reference b6.2, sure, but you'll have NEVER the best of sound they can offer you. You can't pair two known audio tools just for the hype, you need to pair them with rationality
