We personally felt that Baku is quite safe. Did not encounter any such incident.. About the travel from airport, we booked a cab directly on the application 'Grab'.. The taxi prices are very reasonable. Pro tip : you can download the app right away and create account using your local number. And also add a forex card, Niyo, Scapia or any credit card which younplan to use for international transactions. So that you dont need cash. You can directly book the cab by the airport WiFi. And you can do the money exchange once you reach the hotel.

How did you travel from the airport to the hotel? I'm travelling solo to Baku from UAE..for the first time...Is Azerbaijan safe for solo travellers?
