Not just a saint, Joan of Arc is France’s patron saint - which is one of the highest honors given to saints.

The Wolf Princess Yes, exactly. It’s the saint that (supposedly) protects a certain country. For France that’s Saint Joan d’Arc, for Italy Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Catherine of Siena and so on.

Joan of Arc was also a very smart and clever woman. During her trial she was asked a trick question.
“Do you know whether or not you are in Gods’s Grace?”
The problem was that if she answered yes she would have been guilty of Heresy, and if she said no then she would be admitting her guilt. Either was was lose lose.
Instead she responded, “If I am not, may God put me there; and if I am, may God so keep me.”
This was the only correct answer, and it stumped and amazed all those in attendance at her trial. In fact she convinced almost everyone that she was in fact innocent. Only the Bishop wasn’t convinced and He was the one that gave the order to burn her which was unpopular. Ironically enough, the Bishop did not have the power or permission to hold such a trail or give such a verdict, only the Pope did at that time. Had the Pope caught wind of it at the time, he would have been the one in a heresy trial not Joan.

A better example of Spanish American women breaking stereotypes ahead of their time and being even hailed as geniuses on a certain field would be Sor Juana Inés De La Cruz, poet and one of the leading intellectuals of the colonial period. To defend her passion for learning and literature, she even defied Catholic Church authorities when they repeatedly tried to shut her up (under the pretense of "saving her soul"). While eventually she did renunciate to her wordly endeavours, her works survived and, in Mexico, her date of birth is also celebrated as Book Day (to promote reading).

Even though her mission and causes were completely different from the list of women here, I would arguably include Mother Theresa as an honorable mention at least. She didn't fight wars, help destroy nations, or fight for equally to a degree. But she was still a "badass" of sorts for doing something that no one else had the courage to do. She devoted her entire life to helping the poor and the destitute of humanity giving them hope, courage, and love - giving of herself and whatever she had, even though she had nothing. She was enigmatic and completely devoted to her mission, despite her own hardships.

Historians have pointed out that Joan of Arc didn't "lead" directly: she denied calling herself a commander, and the Royal military records and eyewitness accounts show that there was always a nobleman in command. Some of the nobles said they asked her for advice because they believed she was Divinely inspired, but she didn't have a command position. And she didn't "defy convention": there were many medieval mystics and religious visionaries who were consulted for advice by leaders in that era, and that's the role she held. She wasn't a "rebel" for the same reason: her stated goal was to place her king on his throne.

@@waynej2608she was a part of the eugenics movement and is a controversial subject that Planned Parenthood of Greater New York announced it will remove Sanger's name from its Manhattan abortion vendor location because of her “harmful connections to the eugenics movement.”

Excellent video 📹 👏 again Mojo 👏 very informative and educational thank you 😎. I really like the story of Joan of Ark got to play her once in H.S. she was awesome, strong 💪 both in heart ❤ and mind 🧠, intelligent and the real kick a.s.s. type you know?? However, I also believed she might of had a (Mental Illness such as sychophia which is sad) 😔 because she heard angels 😇 that helped her with the War in France 🇫🇷. Also, she was brave and clever 🤔 🤔 💭 transforming herself into a male with her clothing and armor which, back then could of had her murdered right away! That I sometimes wonder if the Disney movie 🎬 Mulan got some of it inspiration from?? The story of Joan of Ark also gets you really thinking 🤔 💭 of what ppl with this sychophia illness can really see 👀 and hear that we can not?? I mean what if there is some truth behind this illness we do not quite understand yet?? Some of the other ladies 🚺 I know about and admired were Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Ida B. Wells, and of course Boudica they all really stood up for what they believed in... good 👍 for them I say. However, I would have loved 😍 ❤ 💕 to see 👀 and hear 🎶 😌 about some of the Hispanic, Spanish, Irish, Native American 🇺🇸 ladies 🚺 Asian, Middle Eastern ladies 🚺 too. Maybe you could find some?? Once again thanks for an excellent video 📹 👍 again Mojo well done 👏 ✔ 👍.

Claudette Colvin was first one to do that, not Rosa Parks!
She did it 9 months before Rosa, she was just 15 years old.
But NAACP did not want to use her to represent their organization because she was young and pregnant.
