The small spider logo on the hoodie is technically accurate, just not for the 90’s version of Scarlet Spider. The smaller logo is actually from the more recent 2017 run of the character (that’s also what the head with the smallest/regular eyes is in reference to).
Since you’ve been doing more Mafex lately, I’d love to see you do their Magneto (the classic one, not AoA) if at all possible. Great review though! Want to pick this guy up eventually. Always loved the Scarlet Spider look
@@alejandrovaldez9848 to be fair, he made that for an entire soft goods suit for the first ML Scarlett spider. It wasn’t specifically for the mafex. Since the Mafex was announced he pushed it harder
The rods are for doing simple standing poses to not have the arm taking up too much space if you’re not doing a complex pose. The rod holds the claw when you snap it in.
Out of all my mafex figures(magneto, storm, Ben Reilly, azbat, hush batman) this scarlet spider has had the smoothest joints out of all of them and really makes it that more enjoyable
I've had a few, and they're nice but VERY fragile. Both this and Black Suit had a problem where the left hip seized up and seem to fuze the joints together, and my Spider-Man pretty much falls apart if you touch it.
If you’re looking for a nice tattered hoodie for scarlet spider, I’d recommend the battle damagd hoodie by BestLee Studios. It’s made out of a nice material with a couple large spiders on the front and back of the hoodie. Arguably I think it looks better on the marvel legends figure because of the increased bulk in the torso. I actually wound up making a kitbashed version out of the recent cel shaded Daredevil figure with the scarlet spider parts mashed on top, the cloth hoodie and the Mafex head, but repainted with some additional cel shading to make it look more cohesive. It was literally a quick 25 minute custom and it looks great
Pretty much my thoughts exactly on this guy. He's more slender than I'd like, but it's a Spider-Man so it's not too bad. I have a much harder time overlooking the skinniness of the MAFEX Hush Batman than I do this one. I don't hate the soft goods, but can concede that the sculped hoodie on the Legends Scarlet Spider looks better. And it's too expensive, because it's MAFEX, but it's the sort of figure that kind of makes you forget the cost because it poses pretty well and has all of the hands and web lines you could want. And it has so many web lines that buying this basically upgrades any Legends Spider-Man you have hanging around since there will be extras to share. If they do a properly shaded version with the bigger logo I'll probably double-dip because I just have a fondness for the cleanness of the Scarlet Spider design.
I actually really like the soft goods shirt. Hides articulation without limiting too much, and looks like a natural fit in the world. I do think the logo should be bigger and more prominent in the front, but to me, its the best aspect of the figure. Could be better, sure, but its still a strength of the figure in my opinoin
I liked him a lot when I got him, the only issue I’m having is the fit of the hood when it’s up, I just can’t get it to look good, but I’m happy with the figure
the small spider is the recent modern look. there are a lot of variations in the original design as well, some drew him with hood rip off and somewhat intact shoulders, others with the hood but shouldesr rip off, some full chest cover, others mid riff rip off
Poses great... but I prefer the Marvel Legends Scarlet Spider because he is thicker, a better sculpted vest, poses pretty good, and costs way less. I prefer a larger spider logo on the best too.
As much as I don't like Hasbro, I think they were onto something with their first release of Scarlet Spider; the torso was sculpted as a hoodie. But for me, the hoodie being an overlay looks nicer. The ToyBiz version was soft goods, had the v-taper, and the flared out sleeves, but the collar was too loose, and it was debatably too short. I wonder how that hoodie would look on the Mafex
It's a solid poser but man it's waaay too skinny. some shadows would have helped considering that is a just a generic red body with a hoodie. Black Spiderman got some shading and looks dope as hell, same mold. I know Anthony doesn't like the new Spiderman molds from Marvel Legends with the small shoulders but the new Scarlet got a lot more muscle.
This guy is either buff or not so buff so I don't really mind this figure, I enjoy mine a lot, if they did a Kaine scarlet spider I would understand be more mad about him being skinny
Where did drop down hips even originate from anyway? Gundam models started including including similar joints in the 00’s, they were mostly horizontal swings but I’m sure a few of them had the vertical swing.
I was nervous about mine when I saw displaying model behavior had one of his legs break in the video. So i immediately put shock oil on the knee joints lol
To me it looks like his torso is a bit long, at least in some angles. But it may be due to how blocky it is. I don't have any problems with the shading and cloth, but man he really is skinny. Bigger arms and a V shaped torso would've done wonders
I bought a custom hoodie with a large logo and ripped fringes from China for about $8. Now I can hoodie swap whenever I feel like looking at a different aesthetic of Scarlet Spider. Can't do that with the fugly Marvel Legends.
I love this figure as i do with the other mafex spider figures i got it displayed with some custom made bendy webs, can get some nice poses with these figures.
Can we get a Mafex Jim Lee Magneto review? He’s pretty much perfect imo but of course I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on the figure if u can get him.
The only good version of this spiderman I have seen. Tbf I don’t even like most spiderman comics though so I’m probably just going to be watching for fun😂
Hey Anothony nice review! Btw I know it’s old but will you review the Spider-Man version of Ben Reilly? I feel it’s their best Spider-Man by far. The quality feels way better in hand and the only weakness their Spider-Man has is fixed. The waist is made by softer plastic and so you can push the legs into the position you need and he can reallyyyy get those nice poses every Spider-Man should. I think he is a 9!
Anthony you should by the EMMI figma from Metroid dread just like the samus figmas before you might get a surprise of the Emmi figma if you heard the game or played it.
I was under the impression. This was the superior way to do hips/thighs. I’m not a fan of the marvel legends thigh swivel. And your opinion, which is the best ?
I just turned this on and I’ll tell you his review. Too expensive, wrong logo on hoodie and some weird stuff about his muscle groups and how his toy that will never come out is gonna be better! Was I right?
They had one chance to do this version justice and it flopped imo. They based the design on the modern remake of the comic suit which is why so many of the classic design elements are off . I took thr heads and kitbashed them onto the recent legends 🫰 definitely the ideal version to me now
The small spider logo on the hoodie is technically accurate, just not for the 90’s version of Scarlet Spider. The smaller logo is actually from the more recent 2017 run of the character (that’s also what the head with the smallest/regular eyes is in reference to).
Oooh. I thought the smaller eyes were a video game reference
I expected Anthony to tear the figure apart due to lack of substantial shading lol
The cel-shaded Mafex Spidey was called the Comic Paint Ver. and the original was just called the Comic Ver. like Scarlet Spider here
Since you’ve been doing more Mafex lately, I’d love to see you do their Magneto (the classic one, not AoA) if at all possible. Great review though! Want to pick this guy up eventually. Always loved the Scarlet Spider look
I think I like the ML, the most recent one.. a little better.
I put a custom hoodie on him and it’s just stellar lol.
There’s a really good 3rd party soft goods hoodie from bestlee studio I bought for him and swapped out. Definitely changes the whole dynamic of him
I hate how this fig look with that hoodie but the bestlee hoodie makes it a whole lot better
@@CasualPoser I did too. The second I came across that from Instagram I preordered the mafex haha
Damn there’s already custom parts! Alright then thanks!
@@alejandrovaldez9848 to be fair, he made that for an entire soft goods suit for the first ML Scarlett spider. It wasn’t specifically for the mafex. Since the Mafex was announced he pushed it harder
I wanted to buy that but i can almost buy another mafex scarlet spider with the steep price.
I am so happy that you started reviewing the Mafex figure again. Your videos are great as always
Glad you like them!
Honestly wasn't expecting you to review this guy
Great review and figure
The rods are for doing simple standing poses to not have the arm taking up too much space if you’re not doing a complex pose. The rod holds the claw when you snap it in.
He also had no unmasked head .. Had to have the other Ben Riley for that
glad you started to review Spideys or Mafexs again!
Great figure, except for the paint job. Could be a dark red with shading.
Out of all my mafex figures(magneto, storm, Ben Reilly, azbat, hush batman) this scarlet spider has had the smoothest joints out of all of them and really makes it that more enjoyable
This one could definitely do with the comic shading. I've been tempted to give the Mafex spiderman figures a shot for a while now

Don't know why, but to my eyes, this Spider-Man looks slimmer than Peter's Spider-Man even though it seems this version uses the same mold as Peter's

I think bandai started this style in shf

Hi Mr Anthony. Thank You For The Comment.
Do reviews on GI Joe's and Valaverse figures
I like this way better than the ML version
The first 10 seconds of the video my first thoughts were..Where the hell's the dark shading???? Looks nothing like from the comic artwork on the box

yes comic paint version
I’d like to see what the hoodie from the recent Legends scarlet spider looks on it, not a fan of the soft goods here
It wouldn't fit properly at all
Went with the Legends version and saved some $. Did you order the Metroid Dread EMMI for a review ?
Does the ankle belts and waste belt come off?
Hopefully the articulation for up coming mafex no way home spider man the articulation will be on par or better than this !
Not Me. I Didn't Ask. I Like It
I was under the impression. This was the superior way to do hips/thighs.
I’m not a fan of the marvel legends thigh swivel.
And your opinion, which is the best ?
Neither really. These are closer but with a hard, fixed pelvis, the hips have no where to go. This style need extra range to be good
@@AnthonysCustoms that makes sense.
But, I meant of all the options that exist, and your opinion, which is best?
Ball socket with soft or floating crotch
Spider-Man is awesome 😎
The one time I think legends one looks better than the mafex
Yep. I do too.
are you gonna get the vegeta 24000? im still on the fence about getting it, waiting for an actual review 😅
Yes
How much did you buy this toy?
Irony Scarlt Spider.
Honestly, I actually like the ML version (with major neck modification) better then this one. He’s way too scrawny for me.
Did you make the notch in the neck bigger? I heard that the best neck is the one with the biggest notch. Hasbro told me.
@@AnthonysCustoms no, but I did put one on each side and then one in the front for good measure. I’m sure Hasbro will be adopting my designs soon.
now you're on to something
Legs look really out of proportion
