Its from her scavanger time, it prevents her arms from getting exposed to anything that can hurt them, such as live wiring or small sharp bits of metal, plus they could hold odd tools when moving around in tight spaces
Disney isnt that bad at Star Wars considering their entire goal was to alienate the male audience, and turn another male hobby into another princess girl's brand.
I would argue Kathleen Kennedy and Disney are very good at Star Wars considering they achieved what they sought from the beginning.
Remember, 2014 'the force is female'. Also, Force Awakens 2015, 'let the past die, kill it if you have to,' is another piece of evidence this was Disney's goal from the very beginning was to remake the wheel. They never hid their intentions.
I blame the fans who took 5, 7, even 10+ years to accept reality and quit living in denial that Disney was intentionally breaking Star Wars. Every sequel trilogy movie made massive profit despite every sequel trilogy movie being absolute trashfire, then and now. Andor, Mando, and the cartoons are all mediocre slop that I wouldnt feed my worst enemy.
They took the most sucessful boy brand of all time and turn it into a failing girl brand!
Not accidental, Rey calls the Falcon garbage because Luke called it a piece of junk in Star Wars in 1977. They wanted her to be the new Luke. Do you think it was accidental that she grew up a desert planet, or they based her look on McQuarrie designs for female Luke. That they even toyed with the idea that she was Luke Skywalker's daughter and then changed their mind. The Disney trilogy are three nice looking failures of film. That fit what Disney wanted to do with Star Wars, it's too bad Luke, Han and Leia had to suffer.
you can't hire writers who hate men, hate star wars, hate Luke Skywalker, don't know the source material and don't care about the source and expect good results.

I thought Solo, The Bad Batch were good and to be brutally honest - The Mandalorian, Episode 1 of Season 1 was excellent... then it went downhill with the introduction of Grogu and was good up until Season 2 finale.

This is in essence wrong with the franchise, far too much drama behind s the svenes.
It's not that the content is necessarily bad, it's that these projects lack focus, lack synergy...lack coherence.
Instead, chaos seems to reign because fans are fed up. It didn't help that The Acolyte advocates are still stoking the hatred when they should let it go, move on.
Instead, it's broken.
Woke Disney should have kept their word to Creator George Lucas and used his treatment to make an actual Sequel to Return of the Jedi

chose not to fight it.
