A Fun Day at the Field of Dreams Movie Site! ||| Dyersville, Iowa

- Field of Dreams has always been one of my favorite movies, and getting to explore where they filmed the movie was a lot of fun! It is located just outside the town of Dyersville, Iowa. Obviously the playing field and the corn field is iconic. The house still sits nearby. And there is a great gift shop full of things to help remember the trip. I was lucky enough to play around on the field, hit a home run, and have a catch! What a great day at the Field of Dreams!

By far my favorite video. Beautifully done. ⚾️
Wow, thank you!
Fantastic! I watched the movie but assumed it was a prop, not an actual place. Beautiful area and beautifully kept. Thanks for showing this, you always find the most amazing places. ❤ Safe travels and GOD bless
Thank you very much! Wonderful place to visit!
Loved that movie!! That's awesome that they maintained it and people can go visit!
They’ve done a great job with it!
Another great video! Keep ‘‘em coming! 🏆
Thanks! Will do! Appreciate the nice comment!
Feels great to be back in Iowa, even if it was only through watching your video! I lived in Louisa County, which is down the Mississippi River past Muscatine. Never made the trip up to see the Field of Dreams even though I had wanted to. Thank you for taking us along once again. Someone was manufacturing license plate frames with the line from the movie, "Is this heaven? No it's Iowa" on it. Never put it on my car, but have it framing a 1958 Iowa license plate numbered 58-1890. Grandpa Fullerton was born in 1890, and had that plate for many years. The 58 was Louisa County's designation number. One game we played on a trip was seeing how many of Iowa's 99 counties we could see on the trip. We never found all 99 on one trip. But by starting out in Louisa County, we automatically had Iowa's smallest county.
Thanks once more for another wonderful video!
Wow 58 is a lot - great game! More Iowa to come Sunday. A LOT more 😊
@@TravelwithaWiseguy I'll be there! See you Sunday!
Great movie! One of my all time favorites.

All I can say is “Thanks for making and sharing this video”.
Glad you enjoyed it!
My mothers family is from Cascade, just down 136 from Dyersville. Beautiful part of the country. Thanks for giving Iowa some love, John!
Thank you! More Iowa to come!
I was there about two decades ago. We got into a pickup softball game. It was a great time.
It was such a great movie. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Yes it was! Thank you!!
Hope, forgiveness, redemption, closure, family. It’s all there in the movie. Thank you for taking us along. 💕
You are so welcome! Appreciate the comment!
Great video!!! Loved it!!!

Goodness, what a pretty place. Getting ready for Winter here, look at all the windows, stuff to the basement all those things.... and more (lol). Exceptional video, really is. Be good, be safe !
Thank you very much! It was a great place to visit!
All kidding aside, it really did look fun. Be good, be safe !@@TravelwithaWiseguy
Haven't touched a baseball since I was a teenager. Both my girls were swimmers. But I do remember playing catch with my pop in my youth. Nice nostalgic video John, good editing and great presentation.
Thank you! That was my first catch in a long time as well!
Loved this video and the personal reflection was awesome! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you very much! 😊❤️
Loved this video John Great job!

Great piece. Love it. Been there; one of the extras in the movie gave us a narrative.
Your video skills keep getting better and better! Love this.
Thank you so much!! 😊
oooh, the ghost of Wiseguy emerges from the corn field 🤭
😂😂😂 running from Theorosa!
What a lovely video, honestly one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Not gonna lie, it brought a tear to my eye. I haven't even seen the film, but perhaps I should.
😊🥲
Definitely one of my stops next year
Worth it!
Thank you for the video, I truly enjoyed it 😎
Glad you enjoyed it! Fun for me too!
I seen the movie. Great video ❤
Thank you!
Beautiful area and home. Experience are great memories with family and strangers encounterd along your adventures. I don't know the story about Field of dreams but will search . Nice video.
Great movie!
One of my all-time favorite movies. One of the best guy cry movies ever. While I have not been to the Field of Dreams site I have been to Galena, Illinois which is about 40 miles to the east of Dyersville on U.S. 20. Not only is Galena a very interesting town with a very interesting history in its own right, it is also where the Chisholm, MN scenes of the movie were filmed when Ray and Terrence Mann were searching for and initially met Doc Graham. I think you would enjoy a visit to Galena if you're up that way again.
Others have talked about Galena too. I’ll definitely add it to my list!
It's been a long time since I seen the movie!
Awesome video!!! Was up that way in early 2000s and saw signs pointing the way to this area. Really had no interest in visiting but figured what the heck, at least I can say I visited the place where the movie was filmed. Arrived site and only planned on about a 15-minute visit. Nope, about 2.5 hours later was still exploring the field. Nice to see there is a good-sized visitor's center/gift shop now. When I visited it was just a little shack large enough for about 5 people to enter sort of comfortably. Also, that larger field did not exist back then.
If you ever get up to Devil's Tower, WY, the KOA Campground is where part of the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" was filmed. If you ever seen the movie, it is where the Army base was with the helicopters. Also, if you take the 3-mile hiking trail, you can see areas where the movie was filmed as well when the army dismounted troops were searching for people. Also, also, the campground will play the movie ever night as well.
Thanks for the info! Devil's Tower is definitely on my list! :)
Nice video, means nothing to me, never seen the movie or baseball tbh. Glad you enjoyed the visit. Thanks Steve.
Definitely need to see the movie for this video to make sense or have significant meaning. Kids and dads and baseball 😊
Hello from Madison county New York
Hello 👋🏼
If you want a bonus, the guys that do the show American PIckers? Their store is based in LeClaire, Iowa. I have been there too with my brother and mom, but to be honest that place was pretty disappointing at least to me. Just thought I'd throw it out there if you had an interest.
I’d definitely like to check it out someday!
I personally don't recommend except only if you're a fan of the show and want to say you were there. That's really the only reason. Don't go there expecting to see some grand place or even the guys from the show. @@TravelwithaWiseguy
I definitely hear ya. And I’ve heard that before too. 👍🏼
@@TravelwithaWiseguy oh you have heard of that before then, never mind then, lol
"Cold and windy" hasn't been like that for a couple weeks now. Today's high supposed to be 68. Friday though a cool front and highs in the upper 40s but for the last couple weeks highs in the 60s to near 70! Was wondering what happened to fall!
If Iowa is like Kansas you never know what you're going to get.
I grew up in Kansas so know it well @@darrelyoung3485
We didn't take the tour either of the house
after what we discussed here in the comments about both of our fathers, your comments in this video is poignant.
