Video info:
Brian Eno is an artist who’s impossible to put into a pigeonhole. He’s produced and worked with some of rock and pop music’s biggest names such as David Bowie, Talking Heads and Genesis. He coined the term ambient music and was one of the pioneers of the genre. And last but not least he explored a myriad of other art forms such as film, generative music and commercial music. To put his career and legacy into perspective, producer and film composer Jon Brion once said: "I think he's the most influential artist since the Beatles." So what exactly is it that makes him as influential as The Beatles? In this video we’re exploring Brian Eno.

What band or artist should be next? 🎸🎶
I'd love to see you do a video on George Clinton and P-Funk
Ozzy Osborne
Mike patton
Jackson C Frank or Nick Drake 🖤
Pleaseee
The Colorization Channel I totally agree with this. So much great material
"The cross between sports and improvised piano noise didn't exactly strike a chord"
Nice one
Hugo Grubbytoes Thanks. That's an original.
We’re always one step behind him, he’s Brian Eno!
MGMT
What happened come back
Been a while since you last uploaded hope your ok
Where are you man? You ok? Hope you return soon!
Where did he go tho?
We need more videos!!
I like your old style of videos tbh, it was more of a polyphonic video essay style with all the moving images which really fit the topics of these videos.
I appreciate you changing stuff up, but to me the the animated character frames while you talk doesn’t really fit this style of video as much as the old one.
I cannot recommend evening star enough, one of my fave albums
Possibly the most important musician of the 20th century
I mean, the century was long, and John Cage and Duke Ellington were a part of it, but Eno is up there
Are you okay?
no
i like your vids but its nicer when theres pictures/videos of the subject instead of animation
Too bad he’s tracing Saberspark and others
Where have you gone?
I've been waiting for this video for years. THANK YOU
He also produced for Coldplay, creating IMO their best album Viva La Vida, u should totally do a video on coldplay they get a bad wrap i feel these days
Agreed! It's my favourite! He also worked a lot with U2, which is another wonderful, yet unfairly misunderstood band. Gotta love this man
I heard it started like a meme in a movie and or telly show. Went to a concert, and it’s the best experience yet. Also they’re good guys
Yes! Been waiting for this one - BAAS is one of my favourite albums
Thanks for the patience. Enjoy!
That album is just absolutely great from start to finish. Especially finish, I can't put Spider and I into words.
I've been listening to Eno for almost a year, and this feels like a personal gift from you to me, Lie.
Great inspiration!!
I grew up on brian eno. was a childhood of wonder and bliss.
Thank you for the video. Excellent intro to him and his work.
doing my college essay on eno and this really helped!
I love Brian Eno his album "Music For Installations" is my all time favorite when I need to focus! It is good to see a little bit about him!
No lie, my mom got my a Brian Eno shirt yesterday for my birthday. It reads "Ambient 1975 England."
Omg this is perfect! I just discovered Brian Eno. I didn't realized how much he has created. Thanks!
Check out Roxy Music's 1st and 2nd albums
Dude I just found your channel !!! You and your channel are amazing and I’m also definitely becoming a patron which I’ve never done before with anyone , lol. You are teaching me a ton about music. Thanks:)
Eno has created some of my favorite ambient music still love ON LAND!!!
I’m really pleased to see a vid about Eno, the man who inspires me the most in life. I also think this video is very helpful for people who’d like to get into him. You did a great job!! I can tell that you did a good amount of research for this :-)
You should check out Tim hecker, he had some great ambient/drone works this decade like Virgins, one of my favourite albums ever.
There is a lot of pre-Eno electronic works that are as "ambient" as anything he ever did.
The likes of Steve Reich, Tangerine Dream [ *ZEIT* in particular], Cluster, Bruce Haack, Daphne Oram, Klaus Shultze, Eliane Radigue were each at it too. The first two recorded some of their first comps in the '60s.
The Eno BROTHERS tho. Together they're amazing too. Brian and his bro Roger. 🤯💓
I shall listen to his first works tho... havent checked them out.
Awesome video, loved the "harp music" part
Yes he's got a few cool stories. Cheers
Brian Eno is amazing. Thank you for giving love to ambient music. Next vid should be Coheed & Cambria
I have Apollo, which ive always really enjoyed, and Neroli...i think thats all! Wow i need to listen to way more Brian Eno!
his first solo 4 albums are essential.
they're even better than the 'strictly ambient' ones that followed, imho
I'm a huge fan of Brian Eno. He made one of the greatest albums ever in music history and I love how a lot of the music have a sound of their own and that is one of the things why Brian Eno is one of my favourite musicians of all time. His discography and artistry is incredible, meditative, unique, inspiring and beautiful. Love his work
I'd say Another Green World but Ambient 1: Music For Airports is my main favourite, I love others that are one of my all time favourites as well, some that are underrated too and others that people love too.
@@TheStrongBoyz19 my favorite is Discreet Music. That album had a profound impact on how I perceived ambient music.
And what a very nice and soothing record along with the other gems
fantastic video, though I've got to say, at 0:58 Suffolk is in the East of England, not up in Scotland.
Mate I really wish you had more followers, I think you are a great music historian
Brian Eno is amazing
exploring David sylvian please!
I love Apollo. Great album
Warm Jets and Another Green World are two of the greatest albums ever recorded.. Just start there!
Mike patton pls
Soon my precious. Soon
@@LieLikesMusic thanks
This is why I shouldn't sleep
Missed the got dang notification, epic vid tho man
You should do a video of understanding Prince
Brian Eno is the godfather of Lofi Ambient music. He doesn't make art. He makes sounds that speak to your soul. His Ambient sounds helped me when studying for my exams and I can't thank him enough (although I don't like the vocal sound effects in his pieces that much)
How cool. His music helped me too when i was editing the video. Especially the calmer music that is. From what i've explored so far, it seems he's been creating music related to many kinds of genres outside of ambient too.
@@LieLikesMusic thanks
Lie Likes Music? More like Saberspark Likes Music. lol! nice Sona drawing tho. Brian Eno is a legend.
What's a sona drawing? I just drew some line work and filled in the tones.
@@LieLikesMusic sona (or persona) is a cartoon character that represents you.
I'm not gonna lie, the saberspark poses and exact clothes were pretty distracting to me 😅
He produced the debut album by Ultravox!
Make one about (Quasi) please. I love there music, and I can't find any videos about them anywhere on UA-cam or online.
Ti would be great to learn more about the band.
Love your videos btw.
Pionieer of pretty much everything alternative.
Residents next plz
Residents Yes! Love them eyeballs and tophat suit-wearing freaks that look like a fancy dressed Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls.
I agree, Residents would be fantastic
Exelente vídeo
You should try Understanding Brother Ali. Brother Ali is one my favorite MCs
I encourage everyone to listen to the album Everything That Happens Could Happen Today, David Byrne and Brian Eno that he made in 2008. Its fantastic!
Totally bout to spring off this and reach Jupiter boisssssss
Where’s the Spotify playlist? Am I being dumb?
Whoops. Forgot to add it. But it's in the description now.
Please make a video about Neil Young
As penance for not mentioning 'My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts' you clearly need to do a whole video about that (rather significant) album. If you want. :D
or how about Wrong Way Up with John Cale!
PROLIFIC
Understanding Mastadon
I already made one about Crack The Skye. It's in my videos section on the channel. Fantastic band btw
@@LieLikesMusic OH YAY GLAD YOU LIKE THEM :)
@@LieLikesMusic wait where are u
No mention of U2?
Brian Eno....One Brain
He inspired aphex twin, autechre and boards of canada! And tons of other artists that make music that sounds like if they dont belong to this planet
Cool vid man love brian eno. Btw saberspark much?! Lol
Would love to see a hawkwind video. Possibly the greatest stoner rock band ever and they are still making music
His work with Jon Hopkins is my favorite
Can you do Arcade Fire
No mention of U2? The U2 portion of his career is his most prolific. How could you leave that out?
Didn't he also produce The Joshua Tree and Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends?
Could you do one about Devin Townsend?
i only know this guy because my brother showed me the mgmt song named after him a couple of days ago
I don't think i've heard it. Which album is it on?
@@LieLikesMusic Congratulations
@@LieLikesMusic it's on congratulations. it's a pretty good track but i prefer flash delirium.
Please do Sneaker Pimps or IAMX, there really interesting but their story is almost unknown. (Definetly try Bloodsports)
Please do one on Yoko Ono or Stevie Nicks!
Nice vid, thanks....David Bennett recommended the channel.
Do a video for Sigur Rós!!
Lol the only reason I found out about this guy is from that one MGMT song
Hah I love that. MGMT are great too
Pls Understanding blur
Can you pretty please do an “Understanding Acid Bath” or at least Dax Riggs
The Berlin treeology
can you do aphex twin?
SONIC YOUTH MAN
I enjoyed the approachability of the feature for know nothings. I do agree that the cartoons are a bit detracting to the quality of your vid but cool stuff all and all ✌🏻
Can u do a video about pavement
Am I missing something or is this Saberspark’s character and identical poses?
He was born in Suffolk, why is the point in Scotland? Completely threw me off.
And there I was, thinking that I was the only one annoyed by it.
@@AviViljoen As a Scotsman, yeah, pretty annoying.
Great video, but the tracing for your character is a tad obvious. Saberspark viewer?
8:38 *except Lodger
understanding the 13th floor elevators
Do something on Pearl Jam!
Tamino Amir nxt?
I fucks Wit the animation
Pleaaase do Joy Division next!!!
Why is there suddenly a bunch of character stills identical to SaberSparks?
I'm high
One of my favorite uninhibited artists. A lot you didn't even touch on, which adds to Brian's amazing scope of talent. Ironically, Brian Eno has stated he's not a musician which he actually isn't (for the most part). He rally just climbs in to create. If it veeres off into something else, so be it .Something I enjoy doing as well.
jamesconradtucker.bandcamp.com
Albums also available on all music distribution sites. Search: "James Conrad Tucker music".
Poor Erick, he doesn't have food
"The Hellers"
Saberspark? Is that you?
Sport1022 thinking the same thing
I kept hearing earports.
Plz do a pavement video
It feels kinda weird watching SaberSpark's animation ripped-off. (Maybe SS ripped it off from somewhere else too.)
Agreed!!
Eno is the reason U2 have a career
Yeah I'm gonna be honest, the blatant Saberspark rip-off came off as annoying.
So basically all ambient can be called "eno music"?
