- Intimate Engagements Concert: Yehudi Menuhin School Trio of Trios: Journey Over Time
Strings and piano trios, Yehudi Menuhin School
Saturday 15th May, 7:30pm
Three ensembles from the renowned Yehudi Menuhin School filmed at the Menuhin Hall will take us through a 150 years-long journey for trios using strings and piano. Presented by Ashley Wass, Musical Director of the School, and pianist Professor David Dolan (Life Member of Clare Hall), the programme opens with Haydn’s G major string trio followed by the second of Schubert’s B flat major trio. Moving on from Haydn’s role in shaping the Classical era’s chamber music as we know it and his influence on Schubert, we come to Frank Bridge’s piano trio - written a century later - which pushes expressive boundaries and relations between the instruments into new territories.

Intimate Engagements is a concert series which started in 2008 and has since established itself as a uniquely enjoyable and stimulating contribution to musical life in Cambridge. Over the years the series has welcomed prominent artists who’ve covered a wide range of repertoire and topics. We’re grateful to the Music Angels who support the series and ensure its continuation for the benefit of Clare Hall members and Cambridge-wide audiences alike.
Where are the names of the performers? Why are they disrespected and not given credits?
If you watch it they introduce each of them.
