There's disagreement over whether that actually happened, or if the reports are a myth or misunderstanding. Unfortunately a post apparently by the stunt coordinator(who reportedly said there was no injury) isn't viewable any more (the joys of temporary 'social media' posts)

all the comments be like: sam, spencer, freddie, gibby are the best characters, but nobody mentions freddie's mom, nevel, t-bo, norma or any of the weird characters that made the show 10X funnier than it already was
I heard that during recording of a certain stunt, jennette (sam) was supposed to do it, but the director didn’t want her to do it. Jennette was into doing her own stunts, and was against it, but ultimately they got a stunt double for her. It was after shooting that jennette lost confidence in her acting talents.
it was a male stunt double for her.. that's why she lost her confidence
They is so dirty for doing Jennette like that.. Just because she's female doesn't mean they have to do that to her..
@@user-vj5bj5jl8q Do you not realize insurance is the main reason why they are told no. Insurance is literally briefed on a scene and if they say no to an actress doing the stunt then they get a stunt actor. Jeanette does not have formal stunt training which makes it a bigger liability if she landed wrong and got hurt which leads to delays in production and leads to either the character gets written out or cancelling the show. Gender doesn't have merit when the elephant in the room is insurance.
Jeannette would know full well its insurance that tells them whether they can take a hit or not. If insurance says no then its a no. The director may have been forced by insurance. Even as enthusiastic as you are to do a stunt; its the medical department that EVERYONE has to listen to
@@imsadalotngl Fun fact male stunt actors are used in media more often I can link you the laundry list of shows in the US and internationally that utilized male stunt actors for females. I mean the Japanese show Sentai has always used male for females because there were not a lot of female stunt actors. Also Power Rangers used male stunt actors and guess what they know how to convey the actress through it?
