- Tempeh today started with the production of tempeh in Bangalore. Tempeh is made in a fermentation room, in which the conditions can be set to the ideal circumstances for the fungus to grow. Lately we have developed a fridge-sized micro fermentation unit, a so-called MFU. With this unique concept one person can earn a fair income by producing tempeh at home. The MFU and all other needed equipment will be financed by a microcredit.
Everyone that wants to start producing tempeh with an MFU will have to do a training and pass andexam to learn about the production of tempeh and quality aspects. With this training anyone can learn how to make tempeh and through this will get a stable income.
In summary….Tempeh today will develop factories all over India, where the tempeh, produced with the MFU’s, will be sliced, marinated, pasteurized and packed. We have started the first two locations in Bangalore and Pune. In de the coming years 20 factories will be developed all over India. Around each factory 50 to 100 women will start to produce tempeh with the Micro Fermentation Unit and supply this to the Tempeh Today factories.
