I stayed in a Chambres d’Hôtes a 1 minute walk from Buttes-Chaumont and got to explore the park and the arrondissement thoroughly. It was one of my favorite visits to Paris. I’d highly recommend it if you’ve already seen the major sites.

In the 19th arrondissement you live the real life of Parisians. Not the tourist fake life.

The canal (up there, not lower down!) is one of my favorite spots in Paris.... well done for (re)doing that one.... It is truly the summer getaway area for Parisians, and has really gentrified in the last 10 years....

    Cool series !
The 19th has been my home briefly in the late 90's and again for the last 10 years even though I'm now close to the border with the 20th, next to Belleville.
One area I'd recommend visiting in the 19th is the Mouzaïa neighborhood, it's a village with little houses and charming alleys. But it's in Paris proper and it remains pretty dense, a really surprising place.
Not far South, down the canal (not in the 19th anymore though) is the underground part of the canal and it is fantastic. You feel like in the metro but on a boat, it is surreal ! And at the end you resurface at Bastille.
    You're a great guide Jay !

I stayed at an airbnb place right between the Jordan church and Mardi!!! My absolute fav cafe. Going back again in two weeks to stay in 19arr but this time near Bolivar. Great videos!!!

We stayed for a week at the Holiday Inn next to Paname last June (had points for free stay). Paname was great and so was a nice little place just down the block (Le Bastringue). Loved watching the drunks driving the boat from our hotel room window....and the firemen doing training and jumping into the canal....it was a horribly hot week..mid 90s and one day was 101

You hit all the good spots! That area was home for four years, I got married in the gorgeous Mairie, and I’m thankful I got to go to the Buttes Chaumont on the daily. I really enjoyed shopping on Av Sécrétan also. The two movie theaters on the Quai de Loire and Quai de Seine are great, too, if you want to catch a VO English film. I miss it daily, even though it’s 11 years next month since I’ve been back. It’s nice to see it through your lens. ❤

Our visit to the canal (and Paname) was the highlight of our recent Paris trip. We walked all the way back to Bastille along with canal (with a few detours). It was a Tuesday evening and there were hip young people socializing with beer and wine sitting all the way along the canal. So glad I saw this side of Paris away from the tourist hoards.

I remember the 19th & La Villette from many (many, many) years ago. All I can say is WOW. At that time I went to a Biennale exhibition & the Science museum was there. Mostly it was a sort of down at the heels area where the former abattoir was located. I cannot wait to get back & explore it now. My home was the 6th, but this looks very interesting to me in a very different way than the 6th. Thank you for showing so much even in a very short video. I would love to see more of what is happening in this area.
