Wow. I watched you do a Cars song and thought, "not bad". Then a Journey cover and thought, "pretty impressive". Then, this one blew me away. I hope it is as fun as it looks.
We’ve improved a bit since beginning our picnic shows in 2006. Some of the very early shows were not video recorded. Again originally it was all for fun, we weren’t as serious as we’ve become. With the addition of John Ryan we’ve pushed it up a notch ! Thanks John.
I've heard that "for fun" line before, and it sounds like an excuse for something. Has the fun been lost at some point and replaced with some other type of emotion?

@@MrJohnnyDistortion absolutely, it’s actually more fun because we’re all prouder of the results. Originally it was just a jam really, like someone throwing out a song suggestion and most just winging it, but it’s more fun when we don’t hear all these mistakes before we took it more seriously.
@MrJohnnyDistortion REM started out as a College band, they said they were just playing gigs to make beer money.

I came here to see how this cover was going to turn out....boy am I impressed. Awesome job...great choice of songs and performed VERY well. The recording is surprisingly good. Outdoors in not an easy place to capture a recording. Great job....this made my day!

The drummer's not being shown enough, only a random fills, but not when he's actually just grooving, everybody else is getting constant camera time
And Dan VanSchindel the drummer provides many of the high harmonies in many of the songs, you have to watch him back there to see him moving his lips ...yep he sings harmonies, he's got a great ear, but many times we work out who's better suited for certain harmony vocals

You have to wonder how many times these guys played these songs when they were in cover bands. Especially John Ryan seems to have the lead guitar parts memorized. What a talent!!!
We actually probably practiced this only about 20 times before this show, and only two takes with the full band the day beforehand. Every year it’s a new setlist, so we all do our homework and try to bring our A game the day of!

I’ve subscribed now and watched several of these videos. Some songs are better than others. All very good. This song is awesome. The lead singer is just crazy good. He is always great. Wow. Any band would kill for him. Great harmonies here too. Always Solid bass and drums on every video. The lead guitarist has not let me down yet. Wow. So impressed.

Thanks Bob, On any given night in out of the way saloons you can catch a great music act . Just last night I caught an excellent Grateful Dead cover band and was thouroughly impressed and I was never a huge fan of “the Dead”. Thanks for supporting live entertainment inn whatever venue you choose.

The last few years there have been some originals worked in and 2023 there were at least 3-4 originals Ray McCurdy had two, Mark and Matty Baker contributed and Scott Jensen all had originals on the last Neighborhood picnic show .
