For Honor Y5S4 Hero Reveal: Raven's LIVE Reaction!

- We've waited...we've waited a whole season and then a half of another one for this. When I saw the ship on the map...when I heard the beautiful season music...I made the early prediction that this new hero would be a Chinese pirate queen based on the legendary Ching Sheh. I hope and I pray that I'm right...but we'll know soon enough!
Join me, brothers and sisters! Let's behold the new hero together in this fantastic live reaction! - Ігри
Well, on the bright side there's no limit to who they can add to the Outlanders.
Can’t wait until they add a space cowboy
@@burninghotdogs4876 Lmao
@@burninghotdogs4876
Hopefully they'll call him Maurice.
....Egyptian hero?!
There's definitely an Egyptian coming
47:22 "I WAS RIGHT! NOT LEFT! BUT RIGHT!" - and other various things from the yelling Raven Knight
I absolutely love it when he's screaming
😭😭🤣🤣 my sides 🤣
I was laughing for a good 2mins
I have found that usually things arent as broken as they appear to be, I think she will definitely be a little too strong to start off, but not as bad as we are thinking when she is actually added
Yeah, people forget that 4 stack Shugokis, Gryphons, Jorms, any other characters with large aoe or unbalancing elements, exist
We said that about kyoshin but then he only needed tiny tweaks like strong but not raider level or orochi level
She has undodeable lights, she can't be interupted in heavy finisher, a bash, a unblockable that can feint into a gb, and she had dodge recoveries, plus a dodge attack. She really does have everything.
Pretty much, except a neutral bash maybe.
@@puzzleheaded6195 true
They should give her flip too lmao
She doesn't have hyperarmor
She doesn't have hyperarmor
Lol I had the same reaction
YOOOOOO is that mr big slander.
I am loving this new hero!
So happy with the outlanders, we can finally get much more varied heros, we aren't restricted to strictly knight or viking but with magic stick, we now can get middle easterners, Africans, native Americans etc,
Sadly it's likely just be a of each group so jut a Middle Eastern Hero, A African Hero, or a Native Amercian hero. Though time will tell how the Outlanders will be. For me at least games where that word is used has always went downhill for whatever reason.
Then there's also the gender locking to think about
@@Haos51 Yes? Ofc were only getting 1 hero per culture so we can "visit" as many cultures as possible
@@OGGrubKill3r that would happen with and without the outlanders
46:21 “I’ve got 57 more goddamn rounds in these single round magazines!”
That I found a bit funny and unrealistic, were they lazy to do a reload animation?
@@wealthybone2990 Not about laziness; You'd have to speed it up tenfold as flintlocks were NOT quick to reload.
I really don’t think this is a cop-out, I think it’s really good idea that opens the door for new characters and ideas
Can we get a new map with the new hero. Going pirate theme I would love to see duels or brawls fighting on the pirate ship.
Going by their logic, Gryphon should have been part of the Outsider faction. He did after all walk the Earth getting all of those different armors.
I disagree on the Outlanders being a cop-out, they might have wanted to add more heroes, but didn't have enough martial arts to fit 4 heroes and stay relatively unique.
I suppose that’s true. Especially since we can get previews of other cultures that either they can’t do a full faction due to political reasons or they cannot really do a full faction.
Yeah I thought the same too, the thing I don't understand is why they didn't just add the pirate to the wulin, other then that I'm cool with it
@@gundamlupuzrex4246 Ya I know, Pirate doesn't work for the faction they're introducing because they're from the Wu LIn.
I called it a cop out because this new hero is CLEARLY Chinese. All of her armor is Chinese in origin and design. They had NO REASON to make her an Outlander instead of a Wu Lin, other than to just kick off the Outlander faction. Why not wait until next year to start that?
@@RavenKnightYT They made her part of the Outlanders since her fighting style isn't necessarily Chinese, anyone with a saber and a gun can fight like her. The closest thing tying her to the Wu Lin is her ethnicity. Her sword is in the shape of a butterfly sword, but the blade is much larger, so can't use that for the Wu Lin. I would have loved it if she was, but just cause she is Chinese doesn't mean she necessarily fits the Wu Lin faction.
The reason she wasn’t Wulin was because of the Lore they mentioned. They said her parents (I think) got killed during a Wulin Civil war and her becoming a pirate/outlander was a response to become a free person that wouldn’t get dragged into killing/dying from any faction or covenant other than herself 👌
Because she is so tied to Wulin is a great stepladder to breaking this ”cycle” of covenants. To remind warriors to fight for themselves. To become wolves, not sheep 🐺 🐑
“She’s not in a good guard stance” Has gun
Shen sheathe the sword. Just hold out the gun and shoot. Don't tease me with a sword out and waiting.
@@RavenKnightYT “parry this you filthy casual.”
Way I see it, this whole update is a w, even the mildly broken hero
53:52 "It is BTS" Bruh, I can't unsee that now XD
You're not the only one
See people say this stuff broken but you also gotta realize he's doing this a person that isn't even defending themselves. Once in the game fighting someone that plays the game alot it shouldn't be as bad as everyone is building it up.
I never heard raven knight this excited before.
50:42 bruh she should totally count as wulin lmao
even says shes from chinese origin
Clearly, you don’t pay attention
Probably a last minute change.
@@wealthybone2990 yeah thats proabably it
Yeah it’s rather odd that is the case. Though of this mean we’ll likely get a Islamic Barbary Corsair as a potential hero for this Naval based faction, I’m down for it!
@@mkdemigodzillawarrior yoo that'd be sick asf
W hero
Wow I can't wait to play the fire out of this character before she gets nerfed
Why do people enjoy playing broken characters? There’s no skill to prove other than telling the world that you enjoy stealing candy from children or let other men lay with your missus.
So are they not going to change the "war" thing on the map? Even though that there are two more faction now.
See personally I prefer helmets and full face coverings. Don’t get me wrong, I like being able to see they’re face in the customize menu but I’ll always choose the headgear that covers up as much as possible same with armor.
Man i personally hope they add some kinda Janissary or mongolian type hero
He was indeed right not left
Come on guys. We all know how this goes by now. New hero comes out, no one knows how to defend against them, the community complains, and she gets nerfed down 1 month after release.
Did I miss anything?
Tbh i think the only thing she'll need is some damage tweaking. Everything seems to be pretty gladiator-ish. I bet when we see her in action we'll see some solid tech to interrupt combos and such. And with her dodge heavys only coming from one direction means the dodge attack baiting will be easy to punish and her dodge recoveries might be annoying but manageable. The only thing I think that might be tough to deal with is the forward dodge heavy being both armored and unblockable
@@adenjones749 I feel like she'll get a small tweaks here and there overtime. I agree hyper armor and it being unblockable seems like it's kind of pushing it. If it was a dash heavy alone, that would be alright.
That one person who predicted a new faction right now.
she’s not too broken
Poggies
42:20 I think they said skins for current heroes, not character if im not mistaken
Edit: someone corrected you mid stream. I take that back.
So a new faction the outlander
News chief. Pks straight outa assassin's creed so I don't think we ever have to worry bout them doing another crossover
Oh really? Sorry about that. I missed seeing her in any of the AC games. My fault.
Yea
Outlanders are already my new favorite faction
[in regards to the new hero] I would only be ok with this new hero & faction if they had already included other factions, heroes, and cultures, (middle-eastern, Byzantine, perhaps something Eastern European). Because this clearly isn’t the case, I view this more as laziness and a cop-out rather than something new and interesting, especially in regards to the medieval/partial renaissance theme that the game was originally going for.
Games branch out in scope, especially for a live service game that is one of a kind. I wouldn't call this laziness or that they lost sight of the original game.
You do realise the world of Heathmoor was created by the separation and merging of different continents? We have no idea what happened to the other landmasses because face it; Heathmoor is a very small place compared to the earth during that era.
Hell, she even came by boat. We already knew the Wulin came from another land by sea.
Yeah, I guess they could've started out with at least 4 heroes like they did with Wu Lin but too late for that now
@@dannejoon I know, that why I’m disappointed that their focus has yet to shift to the remnant of any other cultures from other parts of the world, like the ones I previously mentioned.
@@Meltdownlv100 I am certainly happy that the game is getting content (I know times are tough right now), and I looking forward to seeing what they do with this new faction. At the same time, however, I feel like introducing what is essentially a mercenary faction will allow them to just throw random heroes and content into the game without as much of an overarching connection both to in game factions, and cultures and civilizations.
I would like to note that this is just my first impression based on both how the character was introduced and how Ubisoft has handled For Honor in recent years, time will either prove me right or wrong, and I would love to be proven wrong.
She isn't wu lin tho. She can be from somewhere but not a part of. You were talking over some important details.
That was something they legit just came up with, and I can't help but feel that is a cop out to have Pirate not be a Wu Lin hero.
They explained she was from China but her parents were killed in the Wu Lin war. So she IS Wu Lin, she just doesn't side with their faction in the war.
53:17 wtf is that a cowboy pirate
Seems like kioshin to me was hoping for something more unique
@@BoltYT_ ouch jorm jeez
How is she like Kyoshin?
@@RavenKnightYT animations that’s all
Jack of all trades master of none… yeah right.
Do pirates have allegiance to a country or its faction? How could she be Wu Lin?
Do the Gladiators and Romans have allegiance to Ashfeld, or to Rome? Do the Highlanders have Allegiance to Valkenheim or to Scotland?
Plus, before they became pirates, many pirates were privateers, soo....
@@RavenKnightYT
Wasn't Rome falling so they were forced to go to the most similarly minded in the land, which were the Knights? And the highlanders are serving Valkenheim under military favors?
@@RavenKnightYT had for honor broadened their scope I'm sure the Romans and highlanders would've been introduced as a mercenary faction or something similar to this alt faction.
@@Meltdownlv100 mmm…maybe. But that’s speculation.
@@RavenKnightYT also if im not mistaken, were privateers just pirates with "legal documents" giving them permission to do what they do within the confines of the document? That's not neccesarily and allegiance towards anything. If I get sponsored by a company, I dont neccesarily have a sworn allegiance to that company

So the gender is locked for this character??
@@BoltYT_ ahh ok
@@BoltYT_ Even then they did it poorly. And if she was inspired by Chiang Shih, why should that make the hero genderlocked? What's wrong with having a male pirate?
@@FloridaManDio How did they do it poorly? Also why do you act like the next priste character won't be male? Though it's not end of the world if it's gender locked, you're gonna be wearing gear anyways, you're not gonna focus on the gender.
@@FloridaManDio Because Cheng I Sao was a woman. Duh! I don't ever recall reading in the history book that the pirate Queen had the ability to change her gender. If you're going to base your character off of an actual person who lived, it's best that you keep to their likeness so people can recognize the inspiration. Having a male variant would be cool but then it wouldn't be faithful to the person anymore.
@@camrendavis6650 if breaking faith of the hero's inspiration is the problem, then the vast majority of the FH cast has no faith to their inspirations. I don't recall the majority of Vikings charging into battle half-naked in real life, or there being so many female knights among the men in medieval western Europe. You can take inspiration from a historical figure and give it a bit of a twist, there's nothing wrong with that. The inspiration behind the new hero is really cool; I'm not saying it's lame, but I'd just like to have more options in customization because making a Chinese Blackbeard would be fun.
In the end, it isn't that big of a deal. I'm still going to play her, and I'm gonna make a beeline for the redhead helm, but seeing ubi back out of their promise of not making more genderlocked characters is annoying.
“Our second hero this year”
No, ubi that ship sailed. It is the next year and you failed to deliver. They should’ve just called it year 6 season 1 since there is more in 2022 then in 2021
Year 5 started March 11, 2021. Technically we are still in the same year. They are not operating on the January to December calendar.
@@RavenKnightYT damn, I’ve been outplayed
Idk if I want to play for honor anymore
Sorry to hear that.
@@RavenKnightYT just watched ur newer video and u gave me hope and I'm going to keep playing for honor
The new hero has me so... mixed. Like, I have never felt this divisive about a hero.
On the one hand, I like the idea of her background. Since she had her life ruined by the Wu Lin it would make sense that she wouldn't want to ally with them.
On the other hand, the fact that it's not a wulin hero not only throws out narrative potential for the character, but also snubs the Wu Lin of a hero once again.
On one hand, I love the new idea of the Outlanders, allowing more diverse cultures and types of heroes to be added to the game, bringing to light the ideas of Persian warriors or the Zulu or any of the likes.
On the other hand... why add a new faction when the others feel incomplete now? Seriously, Vikings are REALLY snuffed of a new hero now and the Wu Lin, again, really needed that new hero.
On one hand, I dig the aesthetic of the new hero. It's not perfect but I appreciate not only making it a callback to a famous pirate in history but also that she's probably the chonkiest female hero.
On the other hand, why genderlock her if you want the outlanders to be really and truly diverse? If she was a Wu Lin I'd understand the choice but it just doesn't sit well with this new faction I feel.
CTTO
(This review really sums up my initial feelings for this new hero and facfion lore wise, but then again its a smart move for Ubi cuz they'll have more freedom when creating new heroes but come on man the knights have way too many heroes on their roster and I feel Gryphon fits better as an outlander rather than the knights cuz he travelled the world etc yada yada...I just have this uneasy feeling when I look at the Vikings and specially Wulin incomplete rosterwise we havent have any hero for them ever since Year 3.)
They could add jack sparrow
Disappointed with the gender lock. I thought that with the recent heroes and the color changes that they learned we liked more options. I so wanted the feathered cap and braided beard aesthetic.
Edit: I still like it though. Especially the other types of heroes we could get now. If they're bringing her in then surely they can adapt warriors outside of the "roughly medieval" period we're used to. Bring in some landschneckts, american indians, maori, celts, slavic sabres? (can't think of the name for the life of me), mamluks, hoplites, conquistadors... I had to stop myself because I could go on forever. Just compile them into a mercenary faction from a collection of vassal or otherwise independent states. Adapt them accordingly and I'll be happy.
Are you really complaining about gender locked characters? Who cares grow up, the gender isn't important and plus she's inspired from a person, though probably the next character is gonna be male and you're gonna be focused on the gear.
@@wealthybone2990 why are you mad that he just wanted more variety?
@@wealthybone2990 Its clear you're just looking for an argument with someone.
I am male. I prefer male characters. This is my preference. I in no way have ever forced this on anyone. I would love a male spear/shield viking like valk much like the people requesting sword and shield shieldmaidens would like a female warlord. I think both is a great idea. Its about customization. Why is it a problem that I want non-genderlocked characters moving forward? Why are you so mad I want a male version? I suspect it has something to do with me being a ist or some s*. If not, then you're just being childish over my comment that was purely constructive criticism. Quit being a keyboard warrior and clean your room.
@@wealthybone2990
The "she's inspired from a person" argument is bs too. If we're going based on what was real
-Women would be almost non-existent in the game
-Vikings would wear armor/shoes
-Black vikings/samurai/knights would not be an option
-Lawdaddy OP
-Duel wielding wouldn't happen
-Highlander/shaman would not be a viking
-Glad is nonsensical and Cent would have a shield
The game is not historically accurate. It is historically inspired. The game has adapted interesting parts of what was real into a kickass fantasy fighting game. If you want to be an a* then learn to make better arguments.
UA-cam is being really screwy with my reply and deleted my entire argument multiple times. Ignore typos or weird spelling because I have no idea what it could be causing it.
I still hate the gender-lock and I wish they'd stop doing this 'let's base the hero off of a single person' thing they seem to love, but I can understand why the hero is genderlocked, and I can't deny that's mostly some damn fine fashion. Especially those sword-and-pistol combos.
And an edit as an addendum, I can see where some of themore vocal people are coming from, *to a certain extent,* in regards to watching news for something they've started to fall out of, for two reasons. 1, I was in a similar situation where I was unhappy with Jormungandr's fashion after it became apparent her best-looking chest pieces lacked SHOES, followed by Zhanhu who I considered somewhat meh, followed by two genderlocked heroes the year after they basically said they were done with gender lock--even if they MEANT they weren't genderlocking /that year/, they knew what they were doing, they knew their wording would mislead, and that angered me to the point that by both Warmonger and Gryphon's reveals, I was unironically considering leaving, and, for a while, actually did. Even now, I play significantly less than I used to, because it still FEELS like a betrayal.
The second reason is probably even more relevant, however. I cannot stand how World of Warcraft has been going since Warlords of Draenor. I despise the borrowed power, I *personally* hate whoever decided to turn shadow priests into the Twilight Hammer cultists and replace all of the effects that actually drew people TO THE SPEC, then actually decided to hold onto that despite it becoming very obvious within the first two full expansions with that being its path that it was near-universally HATED, with all of my being, and I despise how awful Blizzard has been about preserving beloved effects/cosmetics, in general, and how awful they've been with transmog, consistently. On top of the fact that every last time Blizzard adds something it's like they're trying to balance the scales of salt by removing something else beloved to compensate.
Even still, even despite ALL of that, and despite the fact that every single time I look in on news relating to WoW and to Blizzard, I come to hate it even more, I still just cannot draw myself from looking into it because it was--is--a series near and dear to my heart, and as vain as it is, and unlikely it is to actually improve, I can't help myself but just to hope. I was the same way with Halo. I promised myself after 5 I wouldn't even *look at* whatever came next, yet that fell through.
"Shes in a bad gaurd stance"
Well to be fair ....shes got a gun xD
Jokes aside I love the concept but come on shes as wulin as it gets.
They are aleast for now making wulin a dead faction. Not literaly dead but they will only get less interesting as new heros come out
