In this video I give you a tour of the equipment in my 2013 Prius V which I use to travel the country, attend dog sports, camp, and more! I show you the items I use to make it a comfortable and safe experience for both me and my dogs. This is a dog-focused car tour so I'll be showing you how I keep it clean, the crates I use, my travel gear, as well as how I modified the car (seat delete!) to give me even more space for dog travel and adventure. And I'll show you all of this so that you can do the same with your car, SUV or van!

👉🏽What vehicle do you use as your dog adventure vehicle right now? Do you have a dream dog vehicle that you'd like someday?
I use a 2014 Toyota Highlander. My XXL Impact dog crate fits in it.
We bought a 4 runner and the dogs love the roll down back window
I just got a new dog van, one of those little Ram Promaster City's, so now Dextre and I both have dog vans. Like a his and hers set. We just finished insulating and installing a fan, but other than that, keeping it simple this time. No solar, just a hackery type battery, no interior build to speak of. But such a roomy place for crates/small office/bed!! Love it.
LOVE IT!! I'll have to check it out sometime
I've spent many years hiking & camping with my dogs, & I'm now starting car-camping adventures in a 2016 CR-V. I'm so excited to see the smaller fridge/freezers since I also feed raw...and they run off a Jackery!! I'm struggling to come up with a comfortable sleep system & would appreciate learning more about what you're using if possible. Thanks again for your videos. I've learned so much!
Okay so I know this mattress isn't cheap, but if you can swing it, this mattress is sooo comfortable! It's awesome too because it packs up fairly small to save space so it doesn't need to stay in bed mode all day, especially with the dogs. Seriously though, I've slept on this mattress for up to a month at a time and I love it: amzn.to/3nKwnHM
And yes! The smaller fridge/freezer is working out soo well, and really cheap. I was hesitant to buy something so inexpensive after having the Dometics but so far, so good! It's a great addition to the car, even to hold dinner for the dogs when i'm out for a longer day!
Love this video so much. I'm in the market for a commuter. I put 20,000 miles a year on a car. So I'd rather run an old Prius into the ground than a newer car. Plus I'll do a seat delete thanks to you. I have a 110 lb wolfdog so hopefully he fits🙏
Note for bug netting - Get small strong magnets to seal and hold bottom of netting to car or it rides up and you get bugs in
Thanks Shae! Great tip! I actually have rare earth magnets in the car.
I haven't had that problem when the car isn't moving but I could imagine it would be a big issue if you kept them on while driving for sure!
I have a Great Pyrenees, 2:toy Chi, a couple cats, 1 Pontiac Sunfire that i am planning on living in until i find a place to live. Any advice on organizing would help, I'm only carrying 2 portable sewing machines, some fabric, thread, as that is how I make $$, so they are a must, some cast iron pans, extra blankets, quilts, limited clothing, pet foods,. I have some ideas, I am a very tiny person, so I'm comfortable in tiny spaces, we all sleep together so that's no problem. Thank you! God Bless!
Hey, I’ve just discovered your channel and subscribed!. You have a lot of really great content, thanks for putting all the effort into your what are you doing. A lot of us out here truly appreciate it. Sending good vibes from Winnipeg! 😎 🐶 💪
Okay I said the last comment made my day, but this one really did! Appreciate the feedback so much
@@DoggyU hey I appreciate that reply! Hope you’re having an amazing night! 😎
Ive been in the hospital all week, my service dog had to stay home but i had a friend take of her Dori stayed here in her home he came in twice a day for her oh i missed her horribly. It was bad enough not having my phone with or tablet going through IT Withdrawal was murder, 🤗
Hope you're out of there and feeling better soon!
Curious what you do for tick prevention with your dogs? And, for the spot checks you mention in the video, do you check the main spots (ears, paws, armpits) or the whole dog? Thank you!
I live with 400 acres of woods behind us and the ticks are terrible. We use Vectra or Nexguard and then I also use a natural spray when we walk and sometimes they still come back with ticks!
I check the whole front of the body and the back legs too. Jake tends to get them on his face and legs so I run my hands over everything. Whip seems to attract them much less so I just check the main spots.
@@DoggyU Thank you for responding!
@@HugotheDawg Welcome :)
5 standard poodles in a prius v?
That might be a bit tight. It's certainly not fitting 5 crates. If you're looking for something bigger but still with great gas, I just upgraded to a Grand Highland and I'm loving it! You could probably fit 4 large crates in there - not sure about the 5th. Here's a tour of the new dog hauler: ua-cam.com/video/6tkvWWsHVuE/v-deo.html
@@DoggyU i ended up with a highlander but thank you i learned a lot of good info from you
Great choice! @@janelahmeyer2014
Why do you just not leave the car in and run the air. I have the exact same car. I put on a roof rack and carry a cargo box.
It's possible the AC could fail (if I were to leave my dog in it) and depending on the situation, I might want fresh air instead. If I had a temperature monitor then I might consider it for sure! I have slept in it with the AC on all night a few times.

Because I have never lived full-time in the Prius, I would recommend checking out the channel "Cheap RV Living" for inspiration. They have some great videos on living tiny!
