    Fanny packs are awesome. The only thing I would put in the pockets for my dog is a medical card and possibly a bottle of medication. But this little guy is nine weeks old so we don’t have to worry about that for a little while.

    Can you do a video on how to train them to get used to the boots? I'm guessing it's just put them on and treat then and distract them with doing known behaviours but it would be good to know if I'm right.
    I've been told you need the boots on their back feet if you use the escalator as they are less aware of back feet than the front. Heard it's also possible that the boots can make the dog overheat quicker in hot weather as they can't sweat through their paws. Is that right?

    I travel drawing caricatures with my PSA and mobility german shepherd. I have found that the k9 storm vest without balistics is the best. Keeps people from trying to pet my dog and has a handle to help me get up, and or carry the dog in case she got injury on the job. We also bought the maxpedition tote. She can help carry groceries and the small bag folds up and is durable enough to be held in the mouth with weight. Being a veteran and miss thrills of being out at sea the vest is also positive bouyancy. I can also do bucket list items with her like hot air balloon rides. For a leash i use the dyneema leash modified with a kong frog carabiner. Is loops back around her neck when not in use.

      @@DoggyU I have a question for you I don’t need any help. I already have a trainer for my dog she’s in training to be a service dog if she were to go to the bathroom in public and in any store does that mean she could not be a service dog anymore?

    • @DoggyU
      @DoggyU  7 місяців тому

      @@faithfix6013 If your dog is not potty trained and has accidents in stores, they are not currently ready for service dog work. if your dog gets sick and has an accident, you need to clean it up and can be asked to leave the store. But if it's a one-time thing where your dog is legitimately ill, that would not disqualify them long-term from being a service dog, just from working until they are not longer feeling unwell. But, in general, dogs that aren't trained to eliminate outside only can not be service dogs.

    • @DoggyU
      @DoggyU  5 місяців тому

      Glad you're enjoying the channel! I don't have one specifically on boots but I do have one on vests. The overarching concept is the same. Slow intro, and then with boots specifically, don't let them just panic and walk around in them like you see on tiktok. Put them in them, feed feed feed, take them off without them moving anywhere. Then in your next session, put them in the boots and then immediately engage them in something fun like a walk. Hope that helps! ua-cam.com/video/UY5ch2FY_jU/v-deo.html

    I live about a 5 minutes' drive from Bold Lead Designs so when it comes time for my SDiT to get his mobility harness, I'll be able to bring him in for his measurements so I know they will be accurate. • @DoggyU

      I think a nylon martingale can be a great safety measure for dogs that may back out of a collar or whose head is smaller than their neck. Alternatively, you could use a double strap harness to prevent backing out, while you're working on training your dog to be able to feel comfortable in their harness or collar.
      I don't use them as corrective tools.
