A man who used to live by my nan brought a VW split screen brand new in the late 50s early 60s drove it home. When he passed away VW offered to buy it back as it was all completely standard with only 11 miles on the clock from new.
Never go anywhere without my jump pack. NOCO Boost HD GB70 2000A been priceless used it twice for storage when I've not moved for a while and the vechicle battery has gone too low and for my previous which was a Toyota hybrid that the aux battery was not man enough for winter when short journeys just depleted the battery too quickly.
Ken you need to trickle charge Toyo Hybrids wont charge driving them as they don't have a common alternator ! So when we pop off in the moho for a long weekend we charge it then, else the battery will deteriorate quickly.
@@tradecarsdirectltd2344 Toyota's advice is to drive 500 miles a month to keep the vehicle battery charged, they've just put too small a battery on the Yaris Cross, it's a very common problem, hence why I got rid of the car after the first winter. It's only winter when the cars suffers as the battery is stressed more.
I don't know how your lithium/ inverter is wired but I'm able to run my sargent built in charger if needed on the inverter which can charge/ boost the cab battery from the lithium, in theory that should provide enough current to help jump the cab battery.
Heard this so many times about AA and RAC falling short. A lot of the insurance provided recovery services arent much better. For this reason we never travel in Europe without Red Pennant from CAMC. Having needed to use them the service was amazing.
G'day Steve, I have both a jump pack and a "trickle feed charger" (NOCO Genius 5) that I connect to the vehicle battery and plug in to the house battery. This maintains a small amount of charge from the solar to the vehicle battery. There is a plug you can attach to the battery and leave under the passenger seat where you plug the charger into so you do not have to access the battery all the time. Haven't needed my jump pack since I started using this. Glad to see you're all doing well and back together
An old motorhome kept well is much less prone to breakdowns and easier to fix ...that aside always carry a mini lithium Jump kit they can also double as mini power station.
I wouldn’t exclude the possibility you have an alternator problem. It would be unusual for a battery to fail on such a new vehicle. Fitting a new battery would resolve the problem short term.
If it was the alternator it would have discharged and died a long time ago. A faulty battery will keep on going as long as vehicle running. Lead acid will deteriorate quickly if they keep running low on charge. Mine charges off the solar when standing. Also Steve if the stop/start not working it means your agm battery is not at 100% which it need's to be.
Do you not have some way to start the engine from your large hab batteries? I have jump leads and would start the engine by jumping the engine battery from the leisure.
Have you checked the voltage going back to the battery? Maybe it is an alternator fault? Or you have a loose negative connection between battery and body of the vehicle

Is the new battery working properly? Seems an odd fault on such a new van used regularly. Sad your summer trip has brought such unwelcome dramas for you all. You usually have a wonderful summer. Main thing is you are all ok. Glad to see your lovely Eddie back. It’s been lovely watching him blossom in front of the camera. Because of creeping populism and the growing influence of unpleasant right wing politicians, Germany has unilaterally imposed these new border controls. Hopefully not the start of the end of Schengen! But it does underpin the value of remembering our battles against the Nazis, as well as honouring those people who risked their lives crossing the east/west border!
