  • In this video, we explore new research from the 2023 American Transplant Congress about how Vitamin K2 could help kidney transplant recipients.
Vitamin K2 is often lacking in these patients and has been linked to serious heart health problems. Dr. Daan Kremer's team conducted a study to understand if Vitamin K2 supplements could improve patient health.
Join us as we simplify this scientific research, discussing Vitamin K2's role and the study's exciting findings.

Dr. Hashmi, what dose of MK-7 would you recommend for a 44 year old male 4 years post-transplant kidney patient (living donor, never needed dialysis even though GFR was 11 at the time of transplant, never had high potassium, plant-based and low sodium since 2016)?

Perhaps the design did not consider that some individuals may need considerably higher amounts of K2 than others. I have a lengthy report from a retired military/airline pilot who had severe CAC in three of four\
arteries, one of which was the LAD artery. After four months of 400mcg K2MK7 (TID) and a few grams of Vitamin C from Acerola dissolved in water he sipped throughout the day, all but one of the arteries required a stent. The other two were clear after four months. Two friends with similar concerns consumed only 200mcg daily and their status remained the same.
If you would be interested I could find his statement and shoot it over to you. I have it in a file someplace.

Hi, Dr... I hope you could answer my question. Our 16 year old had a kidney transplant in March this year (deceased donor - a very good match and healthy). Her creatinine is not stable and is controlled by steroids ( prednisolone) Had 4 biopsies and the latest has shown some inflammation on the transplanted kidney. She is being treated by a well known children's hospital in London. They are the best in children's health care. Our daughter is also a Cystinosis patient too. The most recent creatinine level is 135, today. Appreciate your reply.

Dear professor, I have a question. Is there any blood test to replace the one you indicated that will provide us with a vitamin K2 status? At least here in Italy no laboratory carries it out, unless they are research institutes. Kind regards from Rome, Italy.

hi sir, i wanted to ask something, on 20 april my creatinine was 0.77 and trace protein in urine, then on 23 may i got an ultrasound which showed 3.5mm stone in right kidney also fatty liver grade 2 with heptamegoly, now i started to feel pain in my lower left back so i visited a urologist on 27 june, in the report my creatinine was 0.9 with nil protein in urine, also just in a matter of a month my left kidney also developed a stone of size 4.5mm, is this a sign of concern, because sometimes my urine has foam or bubbles in it, also i have stopped consuming eggs and meat after following you.( i am just 28 years old)

You mentioned chromium is not recommended for kidney disease.
Is it hexavalent chromium, the carcinogenic industrial waste product, that’s kidney damaging, or the non-toxic trivalent chromium found in food & supplements, that’s the problem? 🤔
    We need clarification! Thanks.

Dr. Hashmi thanks as always. You truly have educated me 100 times more than my regular GP, who ONLY told me watch my NSAIDS. Not a thing more than that, nothing on diet, salt, sugar, stress, nada! .I'm a stage 2 CKD no protein spilling etc at this time. Been taking MK-7 plus D3 for about a year so glad to hear about this study. My question...a bit unrelated but still in the supplement category. Would talking activated charcoal something small like a 250mgs capsule or like that, help with CKD in any way, as to giving the kidneys just a TINY bit of help in overall filtering? I am on two BP meds..both 24 hr time released, so wasn't sure if charcoal would be a bit of a help, or maybe absorb too much good stuff in the blood too... My best to you and all you do!

Thanks for video Dr. Hashmi. I am a 71 year old female with Type 1 diabetes for 8 years, borderline cholesterol, and hypertension for 6 years. Recently, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. I asked my endocrinologist about K2-MK7 and she said that vitamin K may increase blood clots and it is not recommended. My kidneys seem ok from the blood tests. Can I take vitamin MK7 to prevent kidney disease? will I be at risk for blood clot? Tthank You.
