Thanks! Appreciate the update on the "Hakone" edition. In case you're not aware, the JDM version is called "Ridge Green Limited. Only 200 units produced. Not sold in dealerships. You fill out an application through GR garage stores. Then, applications are chosen through auction. The application period is closed. So, based on the info, the JDM version will be built before the U.S. version. Except for the right-side steering, multimedia display for the Japan market, and tan stitching on the inside door panel that says "Ridge Green Limited", it's the same car. Check this out. If I was currently living in Japan, which I did a few years back, and I was able to purchase this car, it would only cost me $27000, based on the.current 146 yen to $1 dollar. I'm torn on the bronze color wheels. I like the contrast of the red brakes provided. Since the Japan financial market has been rocky lately, pricing on the U.S. version maybe unpredictable at this time.
Nice to know my '22 won't be missing any speed upgrades. It took a LONG time to get from Texas to here in the Midwest. Now I'm waiting while it's serviced and hope to go pay it off soon!
It's like they poured a bucket of aqua on top~ Unpretentious but has some pizazz. With some onion and Garlic, basil...I can live with the zesty' tomato-red calipers~ The turn signals get a bit of a zonk but not a deal breaker. (my comment got zonked with the 10 r so excuse my repeat) Have fun-be safe Thnx Lori and Oscar for the winner's Photo finish. Tan or Beige calipers would blend in with some dusty canyon runs~
I think it’ll be $35,080 msrp for the MT.The 10th anniversary was $34,360 and the trueno was $34,720 so if we keep on with that 360 dollar trend i think that’ll be the price for the hakone.
Looks great. The calipers painted silver would look good. I was thinking the same thing about the red. If I were in the market for a sports car, I think I would pay 37 or 38k for it.
I just literally bought a 2024 Neptune blue premium in auto today !!!! I can’t wait it comes in Saturday !! It’s a DD so I’m excited for a fun DD for once in my life lol.
Looks like you guys in the US are the only market badging this car as the Hakone Edition. On all the videos I've seen from Japan on this car, it does not have any Hakone badging on the vehicle. The same goes for all the promotional material in Australia, which has been allocated 86 units. Also, it appears the US market is the only country getting the extended high wing 'ducktail' spoiler.
@zipzap4706 interesting, I have not come across any media release that mentions Canada will be allocated any of the GR86 Hakone Edition cars. All I've read is that Japan has been allocated 200 cars, Australia 86 cars, and USA 860 cars.
LOL. Sounds like they're saying you're only getting one if Toyota deems they're worthy of an allocation; which sounds like a no based on how poorly they responded to you.
I personally prefer the last special edition with the Trueno edition. Still concerned about the issues on the right turns with regards to oil pressure/engine. Part of me just wants to wait for the next 86 model, which supposedly is all made by Toyota(no Subaru).
@@SuperDarkLord7 People need to talk about it. You can look up tests here where 86 owners go from 15 oil pressure on some corners to around 50 using a device called an accusump or an oil accumulater. People are still working on baffles and other fixes but its something 🤷
If the Trueno edition also had the performance pack, unique exterior/interior, and limited production run of 860 units, but MSRP starting at ~35,815, outside of just the likely yearly bump in price, what else would influence that 38k price tag? Just trying to gauge price on my end, already locked down first slot for an allocation, excited to up/down/upgrade from a BMW M240 lmao.
I had the same thought, i'm first for an allocation too. I'm guessing its gonna be a little more than the Trueno because of the actual unique paint vs decals and different coloured rims, whereas the Trueno just had the normal black, but still, in my mind it should be under $37,000... only other thing is that it will be a 2025 model year with a few upgrades that might bump up the price slightly too. If its a significant increase I probably won't bother.
@@VAN_Brady I doubt it would be anything significant outside of a nasty dealership markup. Though even if it were to start at 38k, I'd think you'd likely win out long term in terms of resale over 3+ years.
@@_Kinetic Yeah, I think the market for any special edition GR86s is going to be much bigger than it ever was for the GT86. Looking at some of the videos showing off the Ridge Green paint better, I suspect a lot of people are going to want one after they see how good the car actually looks compared to the bland marketing pictures. Luckily for me, in Canada, mark-ups aren't allowed, but then again there are only 30 allocated for Canada with nearly 300 dealerships... hopefully that means one gets allocated for my order in the first place.
I don't think it's going to be 38k. The car is basically spec'd the same way as a Trueno Edition which went for $35,855. But I would expect this to have a price adjustment considering it's a 2025. My guess is that it will come in around 36.5k range.
The only thing holding me back from buying this is the RTV oil issue, which has been evident in the FA24 engine used in this second gen GR86/BRZ. From what I've heard on the internet, this problem is occurring on the 2022 to 2024 models. Does anyone know if this has been rectified on the upcoming 2025 GR86/BRZ?
3k more fooor...different paint/wheel color and interior stripe color? The throttle mapping is a bs gimmick, any tuner can do that and then some for very little money comparatively. These prices are way out of line for what you get even for a non hakone edition.
Price point is ridiculous at 38k I can see 35k but the 38k that out of touch with consumers price. Good luck if they could pull it off but I doubt it 👍🏽
And then when the celica comes out, none of you broke enthusiasts buy it and are going to “wait for the first owner to suck up the initial price and will snag one used”
Anyone else get the idea that as long as you have an insanely high income, you can buy all of these new cars and they are ALL THE SAME? For 40 years now I hear about wheels, lights, paint jobs, fender flares and other bullshit. Other than trivial superficial bullshit, these cars are all the same. Their build quality has gotten much better over the decades, that's for damn sure. But these newer cars are ALL too damned heavy for their power and they cost too much. Other than that, they are great cars! But they're all the same--lots of looks, lots of power, but they're all too fucking heavy for their power output so when you drive one, they're unremarkable compared to an old-fart car from back in the olden days like a third-gen Mazda RX-7. Whenever people talk about "new" sports cars, all I keep hearing is the same old same old from good cars from 30 years ago. I guess I'm getting really old, I don't see how "Important" it is to have Bluetooth connectivity in a fucking car and I can't understand how people CANNOT DRIVE A CAR without it :) "Oh my GAWD, I can't drive this car!! It doesn't have Bluetooth!"
That unpainted muffler RUINS the look of the rear end. I think it's the muffler. Then again, I don't like the matte paint or the wheels either. I'm going to the Subaru dealer.
This car would be perfect if they added the supras tachometer, upgrade that shitty engine to a minimum of 350hp. Also bright yellow calipers. And a bigger infotainment screen.
Thanks!

gr86 just keeps getting sweeter. One of my dreams.
I wouldn't even modify it. It's beautiful as is.
I would only probably get a catback and nice coilovers with an inch drop
It’s wise not to ever modify a Subaru engine. There is a mode you could consider and it’s deleting the fake engine sound.
A super nice color combo; the bronze wheels with the green and drak gray is very tasteful.
I like the green and red color combination (with bronze wheels), so I may buy myself one of these for Christmas.
My 23 is black…everything. While I like it, I said from day one that green would look incredible on this car. I was right! It’s gorgeous.
It really looks good in that green and with those wheels.
