My old dryer stopped working. I bought an old GE, like this one, under $100. I had to take apart the door to make it open on the opposite side. (Should have made a video). Your excellent video walked me step by step through the process of opening the front of the dryer. I was able to clean 8 years of dirt, dust, and hardened lint out of the lint trap assembly. I was also able to see that some of the bearing slides needed to be replaced. The GE dryer is working fine for now. Now, I can take my time repairing the old dryer. Thank you.
just replaced front felt seal on dryer, could not have been easier, partselect presentation was a tremendous help to me.great job! after viewing all of the videos related to my machine i am confident that i could replace anything else that might go wrong.
Apart from removing visible lint by hand, it can be helpful to take a handheld vacuum to to the lint trap to remove anything you either can't reach or can't see. Hope that helps!
I purchased the washer dryer set around 2005. Have replaced top bearing panel and bearing several times $100 at dealer I am going to try the Amazon kit this time $34 the washer has gone by the wayside. They have been nothing but trouble. Should have spent more and gotten speedqueen. Bought locally
Our dryer got run quite a bit with a bad felt which caused the plastic to get very worn. I think I may need to replace that as well. What is the plastic that the felt fits into called? I have the gas version of the dryer in the video. A part number for the plastic that the felt fits into would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
Hi Eileen! Thanks for your question. Can you provide your model number? That way I can have a look at it specifically and see if I can be of any assistance. Thanks!
found out the dryer duct exhaust was clogged but left my dryer working over time again and has worn out my front slides and going to have to replace yet another felt seal....if this doesnt work we are just going to get a basic washer and dryer no front load crap
Steve, I have this same model and need to clean out lint in trap. Any videos on dealing with that? I clean out the filter but I get the warning message. I can see where lint is falling down the front - I'm going to follow your video on taking the front off so I can get in there and check things out.
Thanks so much for this video! My husband has used it and it helped every step of the way. I have another question: We have this same dryer as in the video, and when he removed the front panel, we saw how badly it needed to be cleaned, and the foam seal (gasket?) around the lower right lint duct? was shot. He pulled it off in pieces and now we want to replace it. He couldn't find it at Home Depot so he bought foam window seal/air sealing tape which is foam also. My question is, can we use it for this purpose in the dryer? Do you know if it's fire retardant?
+Tracy Reiner I cannot tell you whether that type of foam will withstand the temperature that it would be exposed to in the dryer. A normal dryer blower housing could reach temperatures in the range of 150 degrees Fahrenheit.
my dryer drum won't spin. and when I took the top off and looked at the panel switch the front big black fuse on the left clicks. how do I replace that
my dryer get hot but is taking too long to dry clothes.my seal came off completely after a few days of noticing this.and of course i cleaned lint catcher and replaced duct.so will this help my drying problems?
hi Sir my dryer is exact the one you have here but this is the number DCVH680GJ2WW how many seal has the dryer? every time after finishing i found black dots stain on clots they told me from seal but I want to know how many seal has and part number I appreciate
Our seal just dropped down while emptying a load. I wonder if this means it's broken? Nevertheless, your video will help once we get the part, if that's what is needed. I should look at the video again. Oh, DH just came in and said it appears the housing inside the drum that holds the seal looks cracked on both ends. Hmmmmm... this might be another repair altogether, though somewhat similar. Not good timing since unemployment hit us both!
PartSelect Thanks! I would like to explore if there's a way to tuck the seal back in all around.... surely it needs the fix you show in this UA-cam. Guess I wish it were easier. We have tried using a simple tool we have to slip it back in place. It likely won't hold since it apparently came loose from the top side. Yoy might be hearing from me before long! Thank you!
Have a look at the safety thermostat or the thermal fuse for your dryer and test and inspect that to make sure that it's working. If the fuse has blown then the dryer won't heat. Start there and let us know how you make out.
just wish these washers where good for washing towels.cause they come out soaked somtimes and nothin is wrong on my end they are just not that great this particular model

I like that the dryer lint is there exactly as it will appear in real life. Thanks for these videos.

Thank You. Very Helpful.
I could not get the spring clip to pop so I could open up the top cover of my Maytag gas dryer. Any suggestions?
You probably already know this, but the audio level is very low. Thanks for the video.
