This technique would work for a whole host of other stones. You are seriously a master of the faux! 😄 I would never know that these are not real stones... and I have collected them since I can remember! I HAVE to try this!

It's actually quite funny. We took the kids to a rock and gem festival yesterday and saw this stone. I mentioned it to my other half and said "bet I could try making this with clay". And then your video came up as a suggestion in my UA-cam feed.

A very pretty stone Deb. I’m about to turn 80 this month and hit early menopause because of surgery in my 30s - so I guess that makes me the longest grumpy person however, I’ve found that the older I get, the less often I feel impatient - Maybe that’s a by product of having grand and great grandchildren in my life. I’m hoping that’s the case anyway. Keep claying! 🐨

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  2 роки тому

You could be right about that…I wasn’t able to have children, and also hit menopause in my 30’s. Maybe if I had kids, I would be more patient, now!

Very nice, Deb! Pretty! Once again, I used one of your ideas on two gnomes that I made for Valentines Day! I used my resin/glitter to “line” the gnomes. I had used stencils so there was plenty of room to insert resin/glitter. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas with us. If I show that on my YT channel, I will tell them I learned it from you! God bless!❤️

Oh, I have no problem you using any ideas I may demonstrate. We all use the same techniques. I just had a few people literally redoing my tutorials, step by step, with literally no mention of where they got the idea from. I just think that’s in poor taste.
      Blessings to you, too 💕

I completely understand and agree with you that the older we get, the grumpier we are!! You never sound grumpy on here I must say. But it is quite funny isn't it. I even shout at the tele these days. I live alone and get annoyed with things that never used to. I will be 62 next week and often wonder how grumpy I'll be when I'm in my 70's and 80's??? Don't know about you, but I wonder if it's a British thing? I know you live in the USA, and wonder how the elderly are over there? I think you are funny and have a great sense of humour - by the sound of your voice, I thought you was in your 30's, definitely not in your 50's. Bbfn, have fun! xx :-)

Hi... beautiful... could you please tell me the colour your translucent actually is? I'm struggling to find 'translucent', I keep getting results of 'living doll' or beige. I have flesh tone, but it's not what I'd call translucent, it's solid.

I’m not sure what you mean by the ‘color it actually is.’ It’s translucent…there is no color.
Like I said in the vid, I was using Premo translucent. Premo trans is translucent, but it does bake with a yellowish tinge to it. There is also Premo white trans that bakes clearer, and I also use Cernit trans which is clearer still.
If you’ve been using Premo trans and it’s looking more beige, then it sounds like you’re scorching it. Check the accuracy of the temp on your oven by using a thermometer.
      Hope this helps.

@@clayboutique Thanks... in your vid it looks flesh tone trans.... I ended up buying a big block of Premo trans when I eventually found it at a reasonable price; there were no 57g at all. I didn't want such a big block just yet...
It was the colours that were coming up in results when I searched 'transulcent'. I also found that white translucent, so it's white but see through though I wasn't sure what result I'd get and again, no small blocks to get a feel for it...
I haven't got as far as making the items yet, so it's not baking scorch, I'm waiting for it to arrive...
      Thanks again :)

Yes, that’s what Premo trans looks like. It’s trans when baked. Cernit looks ‘whiter’ and bakes clearer.

Instead of gold leaf can to mix gold glitter or mica or will it ruin it?

    • @clayboutique

I’m pretty sure I didn’t use any gold leaf in mine. If I remember correctly, I said that was optional. A touch of gold mica instead of the pearl pink I used, would be fine.

Can you use something other than mica?

      Not for this

I wonder if corn starch or talcum powder would work. It would probably leave a milky or white cast on dark colors but as long as it doesn't burn in the oven I think it could be useful. I will give it a try as soon as I get my hands on some liquid clay.

Is that stone expensive? I wonder if it's worth the time and materials..and time to make these stones? I've seen tutorials for pricier ones like moonstone/labradorite or opals!

FYI, I’ve done tutorials for all the stones you mentioned. Matters not to me what their cost is. The cost of making one is always gonna be cheaper.
