I have just bought a second hand Qashqai and this review is refreshingly honest. I am not a car person and am not bothered so long as the car gets me from A to B. I am very happy with my new Qashqai after my 16 year old Ford Focus.
Had my +2 2.0 for five years now and has been a work horse and got my money's worth out of it and plenty of miles, the new ones can't get past 30k without big issues. Old techna still best value for money.
The head unit is no biggie. But I applaud Nissan for having an in-dash rather than the stick out of the dash touch screen that most other manufacturers have used.
Brilliant comparison. I love that you gave you're real opinion. I've got a 1.2l n connecta coming on Monday, I couldn't believe when you said "don't bother with the 1.2 😅
i've got one of these, a 2016 1.6l dci 4wd manual, it has actually surprised me, the mpg's are just amazingly low, and as elsewhere in europe lots of people around me tell the same story, it works well as the family hauler we bought it to be, we live in a snow heavy area and its fine in the snow. what has surprised me most though.. its how well the suspension is tuned, i am a gearhead myself and used to have allot of bmw's amg mercs and all kind of toys, and used to drive them like a idiot and all that, we quite often take the quashqai on a 400ish mile roadtrip between our town and the next city, and the road is a mix of all kinds of twisty b roads to mountain passes and every carnut would be surprised how well that thing can handle it self on those roads. i know i was, i bought this thing with the same intensions as i buy things like a washer machine and a fridge, its an instrument that serves the home. also its been super reliable, we have a little over 50k miles on it now and it just had its first failure, wich was repaired under warranty
The mk2 version is for me the prettiest. My wife had the mk1 for 5 years trouble free. I had the mk2 2015 for hire, and although i love the front and overall design the car broke down. I was sent a 2nd mk2 Qashqai and unbelievably that broke down aswell
We have one in Australia, Dec 2018 built. Australia adopted the Qashqui nameplate with the second generation model. We also had a 2010 Dualis. No engine choice in Australia, it’s the 2 litre only. After having a 2013 Nissan Pulsar from 2014 to 2019, I feel the Qashqui is a step down in quality, the way the doors work, the locks, the tailgate sucks if you are short. My 9 year old has been able to use the tailgate the last few years. Now we have to close it for her. The brakes went basically going out of the showroom, 4 new disc rotors under 2000 kms, no hills where we live.
Oz & Nz, both colonies, seem to be 50yrs behind European cars & especially Nz who have so many old cars from UK, they just don't like new cars, or even secondhand cars, just more third-hand bangers.
lovely review.... You need a LAV mic for better audio quality. They are cheap you can even just connect it to your phone to record audio. but will dramatically improve audio! Thanks for the comparison :)
I dont see any benefit in the parcel shelf system..space saver should still be standard on all cars on Qashqai it is approx £250 option. Tucson and Kuga have more space so Nissan should be looking to compete better with both of these. Also 1.5 diesel although economical really lacks in low down torque, gutless at low revs. Nissan should consider an auto box to match BMWs 8 speed which is a fantastic box.
sarah jane wilkinson 1.5 DCI is the most unreliable thing ever. The engine is actually made by Renault, not Nissan. It is seriously underpowered (as it is normally used in diesel Clio’s and Micra’s) as the Qashqai is way to big and heavy for it. If you want a diesel Qashqai, get the 2.0 DCI... that’s a Nissan engine, and is much better in every respect. But look at one of the turbo petrol engines if you want a bit more power, and the economy is decent enough aswell.
This is the kind of review that we should get, brilliant review.....probably the best ive seen on all the review ive seen on youtube.....Honest, true and no bar hold....Keep these reviews up.....Any chance doing one on the new Hyundai Tucson???
Getting my Qash e-Power today. Acenta Prem. so no automatic tailgate, still it's exercise. Wanted it in dark green but 4-5 months wait, so Gun Metal it is & just 8 days! wait. I'm gonna need a university course to be able to drive with it's tech.
MultiDiamond74 I have just last week bought the same N Connecta.. only a few issues, dealer forgot to tax it, and has two knocks on front offside, I think one is a sticking caliper and the other a steering/drop link/suspension bearing fault.. car is immaculate though. I drove a 2017 Tekna beforehand at different dealer which had a flat and dead battery.. the dreaded Qashqai dead battery syndrome, however it had the better leather seats and electric heated windscreen.. look up Tekna Plus aswell. Personally I would get Tekna as preference to N Connecta however having been in a Kuga with the superior 2.0tdci engine (Qashqai 1.5dci K9K engine is shit on low end torque, the sign of a bad engine) and much more rear passenger space would probably consider Kuga Titanium next time.
That is not a tekna plus. The tekna plus doesn’t have any scabby plastic on the edges. It’s all paint. I know a I have placed and order for a tekna plus this week. Still a very nice car though.

@@AJThePlayerUA-camChannel I part exchanged my qashqai +2 yesterday for a 2015 1.2 dig t qashqai. I gotta be honest it outperforms my 1.6 qashqai +2 performance wise. They also let me down on a hire car as per their breakdown set up and got lies and deceit re a courtesy cat, promised one day after it happened, never heard a thing.
Boy I hope VW did pay you good for this one. Couldn't even be bothered to write Qashqai the way it should be but has an opinion on everything. This got to be the worst review of that car out there, both in technical quality and concerning the actual content, which is nothing more that a bunch of BS from someone who obviously was determined to hate this car from the get go.
I have a 63 plate qashqai +2 1.6l which has a top speed of 112mph, the 1.2l qashqai MK2 has a speed of 115mph which I'm picking up at the weekend. The 1.2 has turbo built in which is why it can go faster, my road tax will go down from 200 to 120 with the upgrade so economical it makes sense. Also you're suggesting diesel which with all the added taxes now after #dieselgate is a ridiculous idea no one should buy a diesel unless they have money to throw away.
I cut have a 2016 1.2 tekna qashqai and the dashboard is too simple . Nothing compared with the other makes like Peugeot which has the wow dashboard looks
Arif Ramzan nothing wrong with Qashai dashboard, to be honest a simple dash is important for driver safety, more time watching the road ahead. If you want dash display gimmicks try a BMW 520D with 8 speed auto and the eco graph.. great car but your ass will be sitting low on the road!
