Fantastic playing. These days Ritchie Blackmore wouln't be considered a super guitar shredder but at the time that was serious shredding. Not many people were playing guitar like that in 1972. What a stunning interpretation, it made it sound even better.

Blackmore was way beyond his time, he felt was Purple was then and gave them that guitar sound no one had. Much respect to Sabbath, Zepelin, Hendrix etc but he single handedly created and redifined what rock/metal became and inspired so many shredders
Spent the last six minutes shadowing you on bass, wow! you really have the touch of Blackmore! I have been a great Roger Glover fan for decades and this jam fell together perfect in one take. From one white Fender man to another.. that was great fun. You should be earning big from this. Skills!
I'm a guitar tutor , and have been for many, many years...I've played Highway Star many times live too.... but, that is the best version of the solo I've heard!
It's an Eddie Van Halen thing. Still awesome how he does it. Maybe check out an EVH solo, like Live Without A Net guitar solo. He does it there! Rock on!!
Martín Rubio You must be quite newbie with guitars yourself; as I stated originally, this is an interesting TP-technique, so I have lot's of techniques to compare with. If you think this is the only one, please search TP-videos here in UA-cam and be amaized. Cheers!
It's just tremolo picking with the wrist loose, the most common way of tremolo picking. Obviously different guitarists are comfortable picking in some specific angle or having the arm in some position, but usually they aim to be the most relaxed posible while picking. The less common ways to tremolo pick would be with the wrist fixed and using the elbow, which is just really tiring and not many players do it that way; or using mainly the fingers like Takashi Ohmura or Shannon Hamm. So yeah, I'm aware that there are different ways to tremolo pick, is just that the way NeoGeo does it doesn't strikes me as unconventional, I just would say that he has a really good and consistent technique.
Thank you so much for sharing this it just proves what a genius Ritchie Blackmore was and still probably is he didn't have UA-cam to copy off of he invented this no offense to you you certainly have talent. Long live the king of guitars Ritchie Blackmore again thank you so much for sharing this
This, is how you approach a song like Highway Star! Killer tone.Very well done, mate. I just put a loaded Blackmore pickguard in a 2006 Strat. I'm loving it
Awesome, that's how you rock. Great cover, great playing and an awesome axe. This does go to remind us all just how mega Blackmore is in that he created all those awesome parts. Lord Ritchie Blackmore, for those about to rock, we most humbly salute you.
I'd love to see all the Thumbs Downers try and play what you just played bro, Efflin' Awesome from an old Deep Purple fan late 1970's, the live version of Highway Star in Japan 1972-73 tour was the best version live and extended.
Je te suis depuis maintenant pas mal d'années et je peux te dire que ton jeu a pris une autre dimension! Ta capacité à improviser des riffs a un tempo aussi soutenu c'est un truc de malade... Tu te balades grave... Respect mec !
Очень достойно! Очень! В стиле Ричи Блекмора! Для меня, любителя творчества Deep Purple, было очень приятно и интересно послушать качественную и техничную импровизацию на бессмертное соло из Highway Star. Браво!
I am a Master Stringed Instrument repair and renovation specialist with 47 years of experience and have worked on over 95,000 stringed instruments...And, I was on security teams with Hendrix and others back in the day so I believe my comment has the credibility that comes from my work and from being around the best in our industry..and I can say that you blew me away. This is a very difficult cover and with you putting your own interpretation and style into it was brilliant. What makes this industry is for all of us to make music the way we want to do it..to be free from the definitions others attempt to put on us that bind our hands so that eventually, the formula is that there is no formula. That is what made Hendrix, Page, Clapton and the rest who they were. So keep the faith and keep playing ...You did great and I really enjoyed it...Thanks so much..!!!

Lol, does my opinion sound that much detached? No, I don't do drugs and I don't intend to. And, yes, I still think that the solo doesn't sound like Ritchie. Too many extra notes, to many extra elements, bad timing in places, like of pauses, etc, etc.
You did great! I do notice a bit of EVH influence too. I, myself do this too! Keep rockin! I was thinking about getting this guitar, or the sonic blue Malmsteen one. Do you still have this guitar? Still diggin it?
he's using more modern technique. Guitar playing keeps evolving as young players build upon what they learn from those who went before - it's all good though.
Riffster59 well that’s your opinion, indeed it’s Amazing yes, but you can’t compare it to Blackmore, this guy wouldn’t have been able to cover it if Blackmore didn’t create it. Not bashing on this dude tho. He indeed has a great technique and can f**king shred!
How the fuck can anyone be better than the creator/original ? For the record , the Made In Japan version is one of the most absolute kickass rock songs ever, Blackmore on fire and beyond !
