Dionne Warwick - I Just Wanna Be Your Everything

- Dionne Warwick having a bit of fun with that infectious Andy Gibb 70s hit. Singing with the kind of funky/soulful abandon most wouldn't expect from her, Dionne features r&b singer Darlene Love (singing backup) in a daring call-and-response well into the clip. It's delightfully loose, a bit rough around the edges, and a fascinating glimpse at another side to Warwick's style. Could this serve as additional evidence to support Warwick's induction in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?
i cant get enough of this of this performance
Absolutely love this performance .. just amazing ❤️
Dionne Warwick proves her timeless classic versatility with this song. Amazing inflexions there by Miss Warwick, truly one of a kind gems!!!
Maravillosa voz la de Dionne Warwick, Todos los ritmos le quedan bien.
Damn... I just can't help myself repeat this again and again and again for 2 hours. Somehow Dionne's version suits my taste more
Ms. Darlene loved Ms. Dionne so much. There was this performance of hers where she cried when she spotted Ms. Dionne from the audience. She said, if it wasn't of Ms. Dionne, she wouldn't know where she would be today. Lovely friendship!❤
Jeeezeee! She twisted this song inside and out. Beautiful.
Mrs. Dionne could sing her bleep off in any style you wanted.
The audience become members of the congregation and Dionne and Darlene are members of the choir as they take us to church on this one.
Darlene and Dionne taking it to church. Those girls can blow!!!!
I just love this live version of this song!
EHHHHHHHH EHHHHHHHHHHHH For so looooooong
pulling out that gospel training, Dionne Warwick as great as she is , is still under rated as one of the greatest singers to ever live. Darlen Love is a killa, the great issue is how Darlene Love is in the rock and roll hall of fame and Ms Warwick isnt, thats crazy
Just amazing
dione warwick "gets her lit" in the second half.good stuff.
Amazinggggggg
WOW...mamma mia! I love this song, her version got so much improvs and soul!
This version is so inspired...
She's one of the best vocalists of the 20th century.
Wow- Darlene is on top of Dionne answering each call!!Good stuff.
If you had a quarter of the voice Dionne Warwick does THEN and ONLY THEN would I respect your opinion.
She plays so many different roles "musically" Funky, soul, gospel, pop etc. BTW, if you actually knew Dionne Warwick, she is one of the most humble artists I've ever met. She is also a UN ambassador etc. I think you get my gist.
i didn't know she was this good at singing
Yes Darlene spent 10 years on the road singing behind Dionne!! Darlene said it was great time!!
4:35- I didnt know she could do all that!!!!!!!
One can definitely hear toward the end of this clip the gospel influence that undergirds Dionne's artistry as well as the 70s funk influence of the day. Very interesting clip that shows Dionne's exceptional musicianship and stylistic range. This performance is indeed a bit "loose and rough around the edges," and that's part of what makes it fascinating and surprising.
ESPECIALLY SINCE SHE HELPED DEFINE "CLEAN, REFINED, ELEGANT" SINGING. THE BLUEPRINT FOR A BLACK CROSSOVER ARTIST. DIONNE AND DARLENE WERE PICKING UP THE PIECES!!!!!
Dionne,Dionne,Dionne! Don't Make Her Over
gimme more gimme more
Let's Get Funky with This!!!
Bravo Dionne !!
I Love YOU !! !!
(y gracias Pabli x mandarm_el video !!!)
Yes, fom Live At the Forum. The original tapes are certainly gathering dust in some archive. I'm hoping some savvy video producer will compile some of these great performances of Dionne through the years into a double DVD (with commentary by Dionne herself, friends, others) so I can enjoy Dionne at top digital quality at my leisure. I'd like the same of Nancy, Mathis, Gladys, EW&F, StevieWonder, and others.
Better than Andy Gibb's version. ❤❤❤ this version has soul in it.
DVD copies of this rare Warwick concert are being sold via Frankie's Elvis Items website.
Yes it was...Darlene sang background for Dionne for over a decade.
Dionne!!!! That wasn't a put down of us Aussies l hope. I'm sure it was meant to be an acknowledgement - in a funny sort of way. SADLY, it is exactly as we thought of ourselves in the 60s and 70s - "that no one was interested in the amazing music we were creating 'down under'
Thanks. I have an old video copy. I've just purchased the DVD online.
Nice one thanks! Live At the Forum
Let's dance
An interesting debate on this thread. I think this is typical Dionne - she was able to twist a popular modern song (at the time), to suit her diverse and complex, vocal range. You wouldn't find Aretha or Streisand doing this, they wouldn't have taken the risk and probably haven't the ability.
You won't find Aretha or Streisand "twisting a popular modern song"?????
YA GOTTA BE KIDDIN' ME!!!!! How much have you listened to either artist? ARETHA, IN PARTICULAR, is known for doing just that. Some of Aretha's biggest hits were covers of modern popular songs, including her cover of Dionne's I Say A Little Prayer.
e.g. Aretha's version of Mariah's Touch My Body
BABS YES, ARETHA NO. HER EGO WAS SUCH THAT SHE THOUGHT SHE COULD SING ANYTHING AND SHE WAS USUALLY RIGHT.
Well, if any one of us were put under an intense magnifying glass, the littlest infractions could be blown up to demonize us. And, about George Michael getting a Soul Music award...black people have a right to be protective of a genre whose roots, gospel and rhythm and blues, were theirs in good times and bad. I'm not saying GM is guilty of anything, but I don't think it's unreasonable for Dionne to react that way, either. Just my own thoughts.
Not crazy about the vocal register. She did a much better version on Solid Gold with Andy Gibb. The call and response with Darlene Love shows Dionne and Darlene's vocal prowess and taps into the roots of Dionne's gospel heritage.

tHIS LOCATION IS IN tORONTO CANADA @ THE FORUM _ONTARIO PLACE...
what is the actual site where i can purchase this and other dionne concerts. got 2. one at jubilee theatre and the 1983 one with what you won't do for love.
actually, David Nathan thought Dionne's KMBA company might have included the initials of Marie Byars, her assistant. Dionne was incredulous as the acronym really stands for "Kiss My Black Ass." David thought it was funny.
I think Dionne was joking about Diana.
it's a really great cover of Barry Gibb's song writen for Andy Gibb. I'm agree: it is more powerfull than Andy's.
What happened with Dee Dee when G.M. won an (which) R&B award? LOL
yeah dionne could not sell that tune, it was a hit because andy did it. what worked for andy just might not work for her and vice versa.
She did it on solid gold and was fabulous
That's Darlene love in the backgroud. Dionne could be a bitch. She really showed her true color when George Michael won that R&B award!
That was awful, the other bee gee song she did was good.
