- Went bike riding this weekend around Universal Studios, where there is quite a bit of traffic. So I shared some tips about cycling on the road for beginners. I am definitely one that prefers trail to road. I do ride inside my development and the neighboring one with traffic but not on roads with small bike lanes or no bike lanes. It would be helpful cause it staring to get boring riding the same few miles.
Yah, it can get boring. Maybe try to find some back roads.
My bicycle is my only wheels and sometimes I have to ride in traffic. I have ridden on sidewalks if there isn't a bike lane, but I don't really like that either as drivers come flying out of driveways too. Almost everyone knows green means go without looking even if I have the right of way. I haven't been hit yet after 10+ years of riding around Central Florida, but I have had many close calls. I really love the bike trails and your videos have shown me some new ones to check out. We would have more people riding bikes if more streets were bike friendly and we had better secured places to park and lock up. I buy most of my groceries at Publix because their bike racks are sturdy and close to the front door. Some even are protected from the rain. Most other stores don't have a bike rack or have a weak one and is in a location to give thieves more protection to work their evil low life craft. I carry 3 types locks and I still have to scout for the safest place to lock up my expensive eBike or older non electric bike. When the bicycle is seen as transportation and not just for sport or recreation we might have a chance of a bike friendly State.
I’ll be down from Indianapolis next week. Staying in Davenport. I usually ride out in the country when I’m there but might try Disney and Universal.

I live in St Pete so I’ve become very comfortable riding in traffic, but of course I look for bike lanes or trails when possible. The one thing I try not to do is ride on sidewalks, especially against traffic.

@@TheRideXperience Lol yeah Italy is the best for biking. Not easy though here in the North with the Alps and our hills. Very different to Florida.

I'm looking for bike trails and best places to cycle around Universal Studio and I'm so glad I found your channel. Do you know if your friend Felipe still cycling in the area? Great video, thanks. Hope to one day get some cycling in Florida. For sure building confidence in traffic is important as opens up so many opportunities to extend rides even if connecting trails. Recently rode around Rome where you need to be cool with traffic but also found plenty of trails around the city thanks to Komoot.
Great video! I was there in the area with my bike for the first time and, of being from out of state, was nervous riding on some of the roads. I was at Westgate resorts, so now I will check out the coffee shop, and look for that Wednesday night group ride when I return.
You should definitely try the coffee Shop. The Wednesday night ride you can find on Facebook, Rides of Windermere. If I’m not wrong they also have a Thursday ride.
