Hi Kathy! Your videos really inspire me - we female modellers are few and far between it seems. Please carry on doing your gaming and sci fi videos if you feel so inclined, they are awe inspiring 🏆
I'm enjoying your series. I have a static grass suggestion. For making clumps try taping parchment paper onto a metal baking sheet then adding the glue blotches. Connect the negative end of the Static grass applicator to the metal of the baking sheet. Then shake your longer fibers straight down, drop close, and when the grass all lifts up, slowly withdraw straight up for really tall weeds and clumps. I've been doing scenery for nearly half a century and still you've taught me a few things.
I've covered some great bushes in my recent embankment video. Sisal string covered in a 2mm static grass sprayed brown with some noch leaves.. I've dipped the protruding 2mm static grass on these bushes in a mix of woodland scenics pink & purple 'pollen' (aimed at the paper flower crafts) they make great buddleia. The pro grass box from wws is a great piece of kit to make clumps.
Hi Kathy, another superb video, the finished results are stunning, I'd like to try rubberised horse hair, but I'm not sure if rubberised horses are an endangered species, sorry, I'm being silly, anyway, stay safe, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.
Great minds think alike. This is basically what I do except sometimes I will make them directly on the layout. One thing I do tell everyone is, the more variety in color and texture, the better. Thanks for the nice tutorial.
Hi Kathy, another excellent video, and I must say great timing I've just acquired some rubberised horse hair and was wondering what to do with it. They all really do look very effective I really must have a go thank you for sharing , James
All very nicely made Kathy with the different products to add and vary the colours on the bushes. You are a inspiring talented lady in the modellers world.
Hi Kathy, I love your tutorials! A great way to make fine flock from regular ground foam is to use a coffee bean grinder. I have two bean grinders, one for grinding dirt into fine porwdered dirt and wood chip into fine sawdust. The second grinder is for foam flock. The longer the grind the finer the end results. I use polyfiber as well as steel wool for the branches of my miniature bushes. One can use cheap hairspray or spray adhesive to hold the flock onto the shaped and painted bushes. I make my own clump foliage from foam rubber. I got a huge catch of foam rubber mat that is used under carpets when the apartment next door had new carpets installed. I use the food blender technique for the initial foam folaige greation. I color it with artists acrylics.
I was starting to get really disappointed that we can't get Gaugemaster Seafoam in Australia and felt a bit lost of where to turn. Just got really excited again about having a crack at making trees and bushes! Thanks Kathy!
Hi Kathy. Lovely to see another video. I would be interested to see how you model scenery in N gauge. By the way, when will we see you again on the Great Model Railway Challenge again? Regards from Austria.
As always great hint. Have you tried using wax paper and a metal pan under the paper rather than having to touch each patch of glue, just a hint.... thanks for sharing, nice look on bushes must try👍👍👍👍👍
Hello looks great... Amazing... I have subscribe your Chanel.. Sorry my Englisch I am from Switzerland.. Alex 😊😊👍👍
You are welcome.. I have also a Chanel... Alex.. 🤔😉😉😊😊👍👍
Excellent tutorial! Thanks for sharing these scenery tips!

Thanks! I do have some model railway coming later in the summer as well but I do love my sci-fi.
Ok, time for me to dedicate some time to creating my own bushes. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks for that great tip.
Great tutorial !!
Can you use them for adding them to tree armature as leaves
Definitely! I often add polyfibre and/or static grass over trees to put on the finer branches.
Hello Kathy. Another wonderful episode in a great series. Thanks.
ahoy there Norman

Excellent stuff as always;...
My go to stuff for bushes is rubberised horse hair although hanging basket liners look promising too :)
THis was very helpful. Thanks for sharing these methods.
I wish I had found you earlier...but never mind I can still learn.

Glad I could help!
Thanks Kathy, 🐾🚂 BearCreek RR, Cov, KY.
Nice bush Kathy
Lovely bush tips
I love a good bush
Another great video
Can I ask where you get your back drops they're lovely
I use photos or screen grabs manipulated in Photoshop then printed at my local print shop.

Hi. I’ve never modelled N gauge as I tend to prefer the larger scales I’m afraid. No news on the GMRC so I suspect it’s had it’s moment.
@@KathyMillatt that’s such a shame. It was a brilliant programme. Keep the videos coming Kathy.
Turtle . ...
Thank you.
At the end, what were you applying with the dropper bottle?
Dilute matte Mod Podge and water. About 1/6 Mod Podge as it’s the same as I spray so you could go to 1/3.
As always great hint. Have you tried using wax paper and a metal pan under the paper rather than having to touch each patch of glue, just a hint.... thanks for sharing, nice look on bushes must try👍👍👍👍👍
I often use foil but it glares a bit too much for a video.
@@KathyMillatt try a baking pan.
I glue straight onto the foil.
@@KathyMillatt that's a great idea....thanks for sharing 😀
Nice video Kathy using the poly fiber that is a great alternitive if you can't get ahold of seafoam will have to try making some myself.
The price of sea foam puts me off... so I’m always trying to find other ways.
