The sellotape is a great idea, I have the white version of that strobe (or very like it) and it came with a pair of velcro pads but I can't bring myself to trust these so haven't attached it yet. At least your way gives a proper mechanical fix due to the tape wrapping around the top of the leg. I’m getting my mini 2 for Christmas and wanted you to know how much your videos have helped me, I ordered a 3 pack of the firehouse duals, had planned on putting the white one on top in strobe mode and have the red and green on steady. Also loved the cellophane idea because I have been concerned I was adding to much weight and Velcro would have added 3 more grams. I have a gimbal sunshade also which is 4 grams…. So I’m probably looking at 12 to 14g total…. I just didn’t want the payload mode to activate. I also considered mounting the red and green on either side of the sunshade, and just use rtv silicone to attach, that way that entire piece could just be removed for charging…. Anyway the only other thought was maybe using Velcro on top and bottom so I could simply switch the position of the white one depending on day flight or night flight. Thanks again, Scott

A little while back, Robert, you mentioned Flytron Cree lights (Bruiser was coming over the Atlantic for a visit), so I researched them and bought a couple. I just ordered strobe lights. I plan on using even in day time, when I look at controller I often lose track of Skye even when relatively close. Do you think there is a specific color that would be most effective in daylight?
Very good video as always Robert. The whole issue of bvlos on these sub 250g drones I believe should be looked at again by the caa. First they have the least restrictions and are basically classed as safe even to fly over built up areas and people. (Excluding congested areas) Flying these beyond line of sight in rural areas should not have this los restriction as long as the drone is kept below the legal height limit. The chances of an aircraft coming into conflict with one of these I believe to be very very small. So small that to do a blanket ban on bvlos, even for these sub 250g drones is over cautious, and completely unnecessary. I do however feel that los is very important in built up areas as the risk and chance of low flying choppers is more likely. However even in this area I believe room can be made for sub250g drones to fly safely bvlos. I'd simply suggest a much lower height limit. That said the public would soon start freaking out at the sight of drones flying 50/60m overhead "invading their privacy" ! Great video. Enjoyed it
Quick question. Do you ever NOT crash your drone or lose it in a field on any given flight? 😂 All jokes aside, great video and thanks for sharing. Thumb up.

Both. But I only use it as wifi.
There will be a few wild campers wondering what was in there drink
Oh, I've met some of the wild campers out there and already see all sorts of things at night, WITHOUT the drink! ;)
and how do you put on the strobes?
I think I explain this at the start of the video
Today, there will be messages about the appearance of a UFO over the lake.😄
I would not be surprised! :)
I just ordered strobe lights. I plan on using even in day time, when I look at controller I often lose track of Skye even when relatively close. Do you think there is a specific color that would be most effective in daylight?
I think the green is bright in daylight and so is the white one :)
FYI I have changed by handle
Hallo there Nick Shev! ;)
Very good video as always Robert.
The whole issue of bvlos on these sub 250g drones I believe should be looked at again by the caa.
First they have the least restrictions and are basically classed as safe even to fly over built up areas and people. (Excluding congested areas)
Flying these beyond line of sight in rural areas should not have this los restriction as long as the drone is kept below the legal height limit.
Enjoyed it
The CAA do use common sense to make judgements. They are not unreasonable :)
@@WindsweptRobert Please don't misunderstand.
Of that I am reassured.
However official rules say otherwise.
@@gmivisualsjason3729 Yep, you are absolutely correct :)
Quick question. Do you ever NOT crash your drone or lose it in a field on any given flight? 😂 All jokes aside, great video and thanks for sharing. Thumb up.
I have, on occasion, not crashed my drone :)
@@WindsweptRobert :-P Good job! Thanks for the excellent videos and keep up the great work!
At 14:00 you said, “8,000 FEET”. Did you mean “meters?”
No, I meant 8,000 feet :)
Most certainly very bright thats for sure. But at £15 each they are not exactly cheap for what they are, plus shipping extra Gee wizz.
15 quid on a 400 quid drone, I’d say is pretty cheap.
@@WindsweptRobert You must be making to much money auld friend. 😂
I suppose an additional question is "What does the drone weigh now with the strobe"?
In my case, 248g with 2 Cree strobes attached.
@@WindsweptRobert That's good to know.
I think I may invest in one or two.
Can you provide a link to this strobe please
I thought there was a link in the description box of the video?
Yeah, I lost it at about almost 7,000 ft. Great lights.
Pretty remarkable. Just wait til you see the White strobe test I did!
👍
🚀
2000/600m Not too scandalous at all...👏👏☘
👍
Just saying put one on the front and one on the back 🤷♂️ see both directions of flight and the way drone is facing.
Aye, that would work. I tend to use the wee arrow on the map representing the drone to see which way it’s flying if I momentarily get confused ( that happens more often than you’d think!)
@@WindsweptRobert I'm on Android and find djifly app crashes with the compass update so on the old skool version of map and not great with sausage finger's on a phone screen.😂😂
" my heed cam " - " last time I used it was on my honeymoon!! " .... I bet you don't post that footage !
Not on my drone channel! ;)
@@WindsweptRobert love what you get up to with ya wee lassie. Thanks for sharing.
Hahaha!
